i found the final velocity in terms of v and got that as 4v/9
but in the mark scheme i dont understand
this line
because the angle is alpha/2 anyways right? and why do you need to use cos and sin anyways why cant you use 4v/9
this is the whole mark scheme
The x component of the velocity is not affected by the wall , so we cannot directly use 4v/9
so the x component is just v?
vcos(theta)
v = vcos(theta) i + v sin(theta) j
where i and j are unit vectors along x and y

from v? like i think its the angle between the two velocities
so does that mean the i component or the j component would have to be 0
i think i almost did it right last time ill try again

it goes from 45 to parallel to x axis
