When we have an equation in the form a/b = 0 , when can multiply both sides by b , so we get ab/b = b*0 , cancelling b we get a = 0

#

or you can think in another way, a fraction can only be zero when the numerator is 0 ( we'll ignore the case of the denominator tending to infinity).
