#Trig Explanation

Hi my teacher didn't really explain this well and im finding it hrd to clearly visualise
can someone explain this to me pleaase?
are u familiar with angles and their link to graphs?
as in 0 to 90 is 1st quadrant, 90 to 180 is 2nd quadrant etc
yes
i'm trying to visualise it where theta is an angle above 0 and below 90degrees
use A B C to represent opposite adjacent and hypotenuse
so then tan (270 - theta) would be: -A / - B = A/B
then how would that same exact value equate to cot theta if it's gonna be B/A ?
give me a minute, lemme grab some paper and actually draw a figure so i can send it to you
alr thx
are u aware of the 90-theta rule?
or basically how all the ratios switch at 90-theta
yea i do
but tbh i've never been able to visualise it clearly
i'm in 10th grade so i think it's pretty alarming that I haven't understood this fundamental yet
wait
u just use the other angle of the triangle and it switches
exactly
go on
that means all opposite and hypotenuse values r equal right
like u imagine the same triangle
just being rotated by the angle
logically yeah but theoretically opp and hyp can never be equal
oh yea mb
where are u from btw, if i may ask
ahh i see, makes sense
nah
alr all goodies then
im happy you're not from india as ppl don't bother asking such questions here
lol cool
they just learn it and never think, anyways, should i explain again or is it cool?
uhhh i get the 90 - theta ones
but like what u do if it's 270 + theta
or like 90 + theta
or 180 - theta
ahh i see
like in an exam i'd usually just use compound angles to derive it but i want to try to visualise it asw
to save time in working
honestly these fundamentals aren't required unless u want to pursue a degree in mathematics later
oh bruh wth
i've finished hs recently and i just learnt it and use the same thingeverywhere
oh shi
the logic only matters when you're doing higher order stuff
really but this is content for the year above me
i can make a chart and send it to u if u want for easy learning
unless my tutoring teacher slipped in random stuff
huh
wait lemme just type a question in my booklet
there are like 2 or 3 tables and that basically sums up basic trigo
sure
see tan(270-x) lies in 3rd quadrant
yea
in that quad, tan and cot are +ve
positive
yeah and whenever u see 270 or 90 in the angle, blindly change tan to cot, cos to sin and vice versa
as in without thinking, just a phrase
na ik but thats annoying
ik
why can't hs's just put in the theory to understand it
i love trigo and i had to do the same shit for 2 yrs
so im being forced to just remember formulas and spam compound angles
but like this is the only proper learning part except for formulas in trigo till hs gets over
you'll have to learn those as they are crucial for calc and advanced trigo
lol our hs's get a formula sheet anyways
compond, multiples, sub multiples, transformations etc.
im from india👍
bruh
yeah ik ik
bro's probably a genius then
i love math lol
wait r u bilingual
yep
mostly yeah\
bro wtf that's crazy
i never learned formulae tho
r u doing maths in uni rn?
did u derive everything
just started solving questions and used them to know how they work and stuff
you're gonna have to grind my guy
cuz like last yr i was doing really poorly in maths
i spent hrs everyday for like 3-4 yrs
and this yr am i starting to try take it more seriously
hmm i could help u if u want
and i go to an academic hs so like i gotta clutch up
yeah sure
i have gained a lot of knowledge, might as well pass it on
to someone who likes math as much as me
bruh i really don't like maths that much tbh with u
but im starting to
lets change that then
