Yh but how did you get the value of x

they haven't yet

both terms are multiplied by x so we are able to pull an x term out in front

we then solve for the values of x by seeing how each of the individual terms can be 0

x(x+4)=0 when either x=0 or (x+4)=0

x=0 is just a solution in that of itself

and x+4=0 can be solved for by rearranging

x=-4

You can also use quadratic formula, but in this case they asked to factorise.
