my bad, there’s a misunderstanding. im not using pythagoras to solve any shape, but asking if the pythagoras works using any other little shapes rather than little squares

the normal way is to use little squares, like this

Just find the length of 2 sides doesn’t matter what unit as long as they are the same unit you will know the other side length
