I’m not exactly sure what the question is asking me. I tried the quadratic formula to solve for y and x, but the answers i come to are radically different from the answers at the back. Please help me with a general strategy that can be applied here. I need to get ready for a test tomorrow.

So here you got a table, a table of points to be exact, which you are supposed to fill.

Let's do the first line together:

y = -4

x+ 2(-4)² = 4(-4) + 1

Now solve for x and you got the x coordinate at y = -4
