#prove that 2 = 3

(1)² = (-1)²
1 = -1
do you think this sounds "real" to you
…no?
why not
Idk
if you know that two numbers a² = b²,
a = b is not the only way to get them to equal
you can see up here that a = -b is also a way
so a² = b² means a = b or a = -b
does that make sense so far
yes ty
the proper way to write this is to use a ±
this stands for "plus or minus"
so a² = b² square roots on both sides to be a = ±b
a² = b²
√(a²) = ±√(b²)
a = ±b
square rooting this way prevents you from running into this mistake accidentally
youd get 2 - 5/2 = ±(3 - 5/2) instead
or -0.5 = ±0.5
which resolves that you dont get 2 = 3
oh ok thank you 🙏🏼
