for example we know the rate of gravel being dumped is 20 cubic feet per minute. if g = volume of gravel and t = minutes passed we can say dg/dt=20

So we are also given that the shape of the pile is a cone, so the formula for a cone will also be useful

Since we want dh/dt it would be useful to differentiate that formula with respect to time
to get rid of any confusion dV/dt=20 (should have used V instead of g earlier but doesnt really matter)
