you can post your question here as well, increases the chances of people helping you out
Okay I just wanted to give a reward to someone who helped me
Cus it might be hard
Can someone help 😣
We are looking for the perimeter of those figures
What is the perimeter of the first figure?
6
I know how to do that I just need help with writing an explicit equation and recursive equation
ok so you notice this pattern
6 * 1
6 * 3
6 * 5 ...
so the next would be 6 * 7
because we multiply with an odd number
now the question is how can we write this generally
any idea?
ok look
we can potray all even numbers as 2n for example where n is a natural number
2n = 2, 4, 6, 8...
now we want it for odd instead
so what would we need to add to the 2n term
Even numbers ?
how can we make it 1, 3, 5, 7...
knowing this: 2n = 2, 4, 6, 8...
how can we achieve this 1, 3, 5, 7...
-1 from each number so (1-)
adonhs
did you understand?
For the recursive formula ask yourself what is the difference between you n-th and your (n+1)-th term
the question states only the outside lines
oh shoot right
no problem
you just have to subtract 4n-4 from each figure.
I guess that'S why they have a table for
so yoou dont make silly mistakes and work with structure
isn't it 4(number of hexagons)+2=4(2n-1)+2=8n-2
because it's 4 sides per hexagon + the 2 from both ends
basically. its the same as saying:
okay we have 6times an uneven amount 6(2n-1) but also for 4n-4 less sides, because of the hexagons inbetween. so we have 12n-6-4n+4, so we have 8n-2
