Applying the Pythagoras theorem in triangle ACD,
6² + AC² = (18.5)²
AC² = (18.5)² - 6²
AC² = 342.25 - 36
AC² = 306.25
AC = 17.5
Since AC = AD + CD,
17.5m = AD + 9.5m
AD = 8m
Applying the Pythagoras theorem in triangle BAD,
6² + 8² = BD²
BD² = 36 + 64
BD² = 100
BD = 10m
