^ some notes
let me get out of class and ill help you
so base from what i remember , I would usually label out my triangle first . You can see thats theres two triangles since theres an x and a y. I would seperate them first and label them.
just so you get a better picture

What step are you on?
1. I don't know where to begin.
2. I have begun but got stuck midway.
3. I got an answer but I was told that it's wrong.
4. I got an answer and would like my work checked.
5. I have a question about someone else's work/solution.
6. I have completed the problem and don't need help anymore. Thank you.
7. None of the above
I know how to solve a basic triangle but not for x and y
ok! so you first want to solve for x , because in order to find out y you need to find out what x is first.
How do I find both of them
so from what it looks like for the first shape your trying to find the opp.
of the triangle
you first want to label each side
So label them as adjacent or hypotenuse
follow along with this
make sure to seperate your triangles
your solving for two diff things
these are your formulas
depending on which side you are solving, you will be using the the type of formula.
i cant give you the exact answer , but i can help you get through it.
What does the sin cos and tan mean
your sin is the opp/hyp
the cos is the adj over the hyp
and tangent is opp over ad
so your solving for your first one opp and hyp
meaning its a sin
that your solving
sin=opp/hyp
are you doing a pythagorean theorem or value?
because if its a theorem it would be this
Pythagorean Theorem example explained step by step. http://Mathmeeting.com
if its value it would be this

if its a theorem then yes , it would be squared(powered).
