As long as it passes the vertical line test, it would be a function
if the circle was closed, it would no longer pass the vertical line test

The kind of person who is posting vertical line test question doesnt strike me as the smartest

I think it should be taken as a piecewise function
which is a function that jumps basically
Piecewise functions can be continuous
but only if one end is closed and the othe ris open if the ends are right ontop of each other
there's probably non-continuous non-piecewise functions
it should not been seen as a rule
