#need help with sinusoidal functions phase shift

I’m having trouble comprehending how to apply phase shift in graphing sinusoids functions. Im currently on the ‘Graphing sinusoidal functions: Phase shift’ area on Khan Academy. Could anyone please teach me how to do it?

a is amplitude, a = hight altitude - lower altitude, a = 6 - 2 = 4

okay so basically you need to know what type of wave it is first... it says its a cosine wave so you need to know what an ordinary cosine wave looks like then see how much of a shift is present in the points

looking at the maximum point and seeing how much its shifted it what i usually do

*** as the cosine waves max is on the y-axis seeing how much it is to the left or right

then putting it back into the equation either + or - depending on if its going to the left or to the right respectively
