#logarithmic equation

How do I solve this logarithmic equation. It has different subscripts.
The 7 and the 2.
Do you know the change base formula for log
You mean this?
Are we trying to change to exponential form?
Should it be like (x+2)(x-1) =
But what should the other side be since the subscripts are different?
Are you allowed to use calculators on this question
I'm working on it and realizing that the change base formula is hitting a wall
I'm going to say yes because on some question on the hw it said use calculator to solve___
I know the answer to this is 1.87 but I want to know how to get there
but if also happen to find a way to solve it without one that be cool too. I don't want to overly rely on a calculator.
I didn't get 1.87 as a solution so I'm getting confused, i got ~1.386 which was what I got after just graphing it and finding the intersection
sorry 1.37 sorry about that. It was another problem
You can only find the solution by graphing it
?
That's what I am assuming right now
