maths problem i need to cover asap!
Let's say the glacier was had some h height when it started melting
And let's call the constant rate at which it is melting some k
k
Then we can express the height at time t with h - kt
And it's given that after a month the height was 100m
So we can safely say let t = 1month
And set the expression equal to 100m
Getting us h - k = 100
Alright, let's now consider the fact that after 3 months it was 20m high
So, similarly, we can let t = 3months and set the expression equal to 20m
Meaning our second equation is h - 3k = 20
ohhhhh
makes more sence
so
when you have done all of than how do you solve it
to get the origional height b4 month 1
You can multiply the first equation by 3 and subtract the equations
kk
your saying the ORIGIONAL height was 280m
im brain dead sorry
2h = 280 -> h = 140
last question can u explain how you solved this to be 2h = 280
?
pls define
(3h - 3k) - (h - 3k) = 300 - 20
3h - 3k - h + 3k = 300 - 20
2h = 280
.solved
