Imagine how confusing would arithmetic be without PEMDAS
to evaluate polynomial, x^3+3x^2-6 at x=4, you would have to type 4^3+(3*(4)^2)-6
and Im not even sure if that awful expression is correct

and when you do (4+3)/4 you get 1.75

When you add fractions they need to have a common denominator. You are trying to add 4 and 3/4, but the denominator of 4 is 1 (4/1=4) and the denominator of 3/4 is 4. So when you just add them like that to get 7/4 it is incorrect. You can easily make them have common denominators, as 4 can be wrote as 16/4. Now they share a common denominator of 4. 16/4+3/4 = 19/4. From this you can simplify, to 4.75.
