It's the same as saying y=x
So if you are at 0 on your x-axis, then you must be at 0 on the y-axis as well.
what do I do with 4?
The same goes for x=1, x=0.5, x=2, etc.

In other words, you slide f(x)=x four units up.

just so im 100% clear im going to explain all the details so forgive me if you know some of this already, so in the image you got the two lines at the center, up and down and left and right, the line that goes up and down is the y-axis and left to right is x-axis
thats just termonology so dont worry too much

so essentially your given the equation x+4
and all its asking you to do is plot it which means put a line through some points
to find those points all you have to do is plug in some values for x
so lets say x=1
then x+4 = 1+4
so we know that somewhere something will relate to the number 5 on this graph, not sure where yet

yeah so he is refering to x=0 where 0+4=4, and the verticle part is the key idea, which i will explain
so essentiall think about the x-axis and y-axis as number lines
at the number 0 on the x numberline the y numberline will also have a value
that value of the y number line when x=0 or the number 0 on the x numberline can be found with the equation x+4, where we just plug in our number, ie 0
that might be confusing but does that make sense?

so here i have put a dot at the 0 position on the x numberline
being at position 0 on the x-axis means that we will also be at another position on the y axis

and then put them on the same graph

you need to draw a line through all the points you plot
so once you have put down all the points for 1 equation
draw a line that goes through all of them
and once you plot the other equation, draw a line that goes through all the points for the other equation
