What have you tried already?

Someone correct me If I misunderstand here but if we strip the language out:

A + B = 8/11

which looks a lot more approachable. We currently know A, correct? A = 2/3

So, re-arranging the equation we get:

B = 8/11 - 2/3

Have you learnt about subtracting fractions? If not, we want to have the same denominator. We can find such a thing by finding a common factor between the two denominators.

11 and 3. There's a few solution here but one that jumps to mind is 33 is a shared factor. If we multiply 11 by 3 we get 33 and if we multiply 3 by 11 we get 33. We can use this information to make the denominators the same! Now, remember! What we do to the denominator, we must do to the numerator. So...

8/11 * top and bottom by 3 gives us 24/33.
2/3 * top and bottom by 11 gives us 22/33.

Which leaves us with things looking a bit nicer!

B = 24/33 - 22/33 = 2/33

We can test this by adding back B into the original equation

A + B = 8/11
2/3 + 2/33 = 8/11

Adding back the language from the original question,

The density of material B is 2/33 g/cm^(3)

Does that make sense?
