I help my cousin with his homework and I need to know how to do this to be able to explain it to him but he’s in 5th grade so i can’t solve it with equations and that kind of thing , so I don’t know how to solve it 🥲

Ask him how much 8 apples and 8 oranges cost, then ask how much 4 apples cost, then how much one apple costs, then how much one orange costs.

It's basically doing a system of equations but without calling it that because the numbers are nice enough
