do you know how to find local extrema
relative maximum and minima? yeah, but how it relates with global?
just compare all of them
whichever is the biggest is the global max
whichever is the smallest is the global min
dont forget to check endpoints as well
so you are telling me to solve the equation, then I get the relatives and compare them to the interval or how? my bad, i’m bad at math
step 1: find local extrema using first derivative test or whatever you'd like
step 2: find the output of the function at the local extrema and on the endpoints of the interval
step 3: compare these outputs. The biggest one corresponds to the global (on the given interval) maximum.
