You've got money in a bank account that compounds at a rate of 2% / year. You initially invest $10 000. After 2.7 years, they decide to lower the interest rate to 1.3%. How much money do you have after 5 years ?

yep, different marginal rates means that your tax computed from your taxable income is a piecewise linear function
so if you want a real life problem, try computing the tax tables on most tax returns from the way it's written in the law

just found it kinda weird that if you stay for 2.9 hours, you end up paying more than if you stay for 3 hours
but maybe you have to book in integer numbers of hours
