yes
11y^2+24y=0
yess, now how can factor this
no just factor out a y
how
ab + ac = a(b + c)
apply the same thing with this
y(11y+24)
one of them equals zero
oh
Yeas
ok so now you have the solution y = 0, and what's the other solutoin for y?
yeah
im doing this totally wrong
no
y = 0 and x = 4 is one solution
but there's another one
11y + 24 = 0
so what is y
its zero
11(0) + 24 = 0??
yeah, isolate y
That's common lol
Y=-2.4
Oh sorry, y=2.1 smt
isolate y natures
no it doesnt.
make y by itself
okay
it's not
isolate y!!
you litearly did the same thing before
just div ide by 11
so what if it's a decimal
its wrong if its a decimal
no? remember where I got 11y + 24 from
then it's only the first solution

I’m not sure what the parallel lines are here and I tried using theorems like if two lines are cut by a transversal and Corresponding angles are congruent then the lines are parallel but I’m not sure if that’s right

When u replace x with 3, you replace all the x’s with 3’s as well. That’s what it means to plug in 3 as an input. So -x-5 becomes -3-5
Yup!
uh so
Mhm?
It’s just flat out -3-5
yeah
So do u know how to solve 5x-3=7?
YUSSSS LESGOOO
5x - 3 is 2x
WAwawait 7x=5x-3?
well, i just did
7 = 5x-3
5x - 3 is what?
2x
meaning 2x is equal to 7

I know I need to find out the area that will be covered by 185ml but i dont know how
Wait
5ml will cover 480cm2
10ml will cover 960cm2
so 1ml will cover 96cm2
96 x 185 will be 17760
So the largest area will be 17760cm2
Am i right in my thinking?
No

how do i find domain for this function
We require x^2 -2x > 0 as the thing inside log has to be positive else it’s not defined.
yes my problem is finding that inequality
x^2 -2x > 0 => x(x-2)>0
From here we sketch the graph y=x(x-2)
And find the region where it is positive ie. above the x axis

A rectangle has a perimeter of 36 cm and an area of 45 cm 2. What are the length and
the width of the rectangle?
so if you have a rectangle with length $\ell$ and width $w$, what are the formulas for area and perimeter?
MellowDramaLlama
do you know the formula for area of a square?
No
length times width
Oh
and the perimter is the measure of going around your object and ending up back where you started
so then the formula is as such
so basically what this question is saying is that, given a length of $\ell$ and a width of $w$, the area is $2\ell + 2w = 36$ and $\ell w = 45$.
MellowDramaLlama
so now you have 2 equations to play with
so solve 2l + 2w = 36 for one of the variables, say w, and then plug that into lw = 45 to find the value of l.
yep np

Something like this
@midnight haven Has your question been resolved?
hmm
well for p to be minimum q should also be minimum no?
Hmm
I think no
The answer is the 4017 which is sum of numerators
Idk how
Or y
But the thing is why
idk how to prove but that seems to be minimum
i just tried all kmown means
like am,gm etc
all were higher than 4017
numerator
me too
Now wt do we do
🤔
Ok
very insightful

so we need to prove for any a,b,c,d a/b <p/q <c/d the minimum pf p will be a+c
Yes
hmm
But couldn't p just be as small as we like?
good luck finding minimum positive real

deep.

@still forge Has your question been resolved?
That's part of the problem. IDK what's the formal definition. What's in my head is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_homophily
Network homophily refers to the theory in network science which states that, based on node attributes, similar nodes may be more likely to attach to each other than dissimilar ones. The hypothesis is linked to the model of preferential attachment and it draws from the phenomenon of homophily in social sciences and much of the scientific analys...

@grim patrol Has your question been resolved?
yea but thats R->inf, so shouldnt it be something like, there exists an R>0 such that for all |z|>R, |f'(z)|=0?
@grim patrol Has your question been resolved?
No because R does not depend on z
It's valid for whatever R>0
Hence the result
ok sry i meant
there exist a q such that |z| > q implies |f'(z)| is arbitrarily close to
R is a bad variable choice as its alr used oops
Close to what?
0
You don't even need that
@grim patrol Has your question been resolved?

can someone please explain how to do the last two parts
@gritty citrus Has your question been resolved?
the second to last part is a very clever difference of squares
recall that a^2 - b^2 = (a-b)(a+b)
so, x^2 - 4 would be (x-2)(x+2)
another one, more relevant to this problem, would be x^2 - 1 = (x+1)(x-1)
in this problem, we will pretend x^2 = n^4 + 2n^3 - n^2 - 2n + 1

During my time of reflection aka post Graduation i came to the realization that math is more then math, but its a language of the universe and somewhat of a skill, If you practice math every single day for at least 2h a day you can find patterns in everything and its honesty scary and amazing at the same time
ty for the advice i take it to heart
please do

i remember
Delay satisfaction, thats the key
tbh idk, we didnt really name the classes
When i used to play video games i would do it just to escape the real world and now that im forced to face the real world the passion of playing video games just gives me PtSD back to the times where i used to play videos games to escape life

Most of the time teachers use work sheets with the name of the unit on it
simplifying radicals
look for some relevant work sheets and google em
ye but our teachsr posts stuff much harder then whats online
so
im not gonna find anyhtung
plus
dont challenge the internet lol
i wanna know what to do from here
and also theres some Math solver website that give you the solution and also some steps to get to the solution
ik
i can get that
but i wanna know how to do it my way
like from what ive dine so far
lol i do that to, k just find the Solution for one of your problems and look at what changed from beginning to end and find the patterns in-between
i would help you but i got a exam next week and i got memorize the whole unit circle and some forumlas so i got my hands full right now

im alr confused from ur first to second step
Where
@sick bloom plus i wanna know wat im doing wrong
where do u get y^2 outside from
plus wt am i doing wrong
Cuz j have a test in 2 days
and this is how ill be doing it
With a 9 your answer should technically be correct
hmm how
y^3=y^4/y
ik
I multiplied the y in the numerator
So they want the root to only be on the top, right?
That probably means that x and y are in the numerator
@vapid trench how can you move the variables to the numerator
uhnm
well
since
they are in the same root im trying to subtract
but then
it would be negative
snd that wouldnt be allowed
so
wtf
y^-3
ye
Do that and then you can take y^6 outside
can you do it from my work to the answer and send me a pic pls
Sure
xd i was just about messge it shouldb tbe taking this long

It's blurry, ye
the class average is like a 51 percent
on rhe tests
he makes them up and just adds imaginary numbers ane stuff
U see what he did to a simple simplifying radicals right
this is from last years quiz
My maths prof is so awesome that he directly gives everyone 50%
If you got Below 50%
So that noone fails
usually he gives the class work super ez
and the tests a hundred times harder
like he would give a prob like this on the test but add like another section of multiplication and give a simple radical simplification for class
btw
i dont get
how u got that
how did the x^4 move up
ye
im confused
this dosent make sence
the x^4
should go up as
-x^4
or x^-4
how does it go up as x^2
and the y just directly transfers over
thats like not possible
it shouldnt be the same in the numberator and denominator
should be opposite signs
I
o
i seeeee
u did something
on the left side
thats brilliant ngl
i dont get the last step doe
@sick bloom
<@&286206848099549185>
@vapid trench after doing that, the answer was technically in the correct form so just putting that in the calculator should give you an acceptable answer
Your answer had 5 in the denominator
So I just multiplied by 5^6 to take that out
But I don't get the need to do that unless you absolutely hate decimals
btw for future math problems can i just dm u
You'll get (x^2(1597.2)^(1/6))/y^4
ye i got it now
That's technically in that form
i got that
but u cant have a radical
in the denomiator
So its not vorrect
at the same time
Simplify it
no i know
thats right
im saying before
the step before where u said its technically correct
Do you see a radical in the denominator here
Not here
o
I don't use discord very often I'm just here rn coz I'm not feeling well xd
oof
welp
is this good sruff for 9th grade btw?
or did u do more advanced then this in 9th grade
Don't remember
Because it's kinda entertaining at the moment
eh?
Wdym
It either has to be (x/y)/z or x/(y/z/)
Welpe
ok]
ty
wait
what math r u doing
have u done like linear algebra and multi varibale calc
Yes I have done those
I'm not great at it tho, I'm a physics major
o k
Don't wanna disclose xd

no
i dont get it
you get one 2 out of every even number
its not additions
2*4*6 = (2*1)(2*2)(2*3) =(2^3) *1*2*3

so this is the question, i got part a), but im confused about part b. i got this far, but the answer is just pi/24 and pi/8, not the other two. does anyone know why?
@midnight haven Has your question been resolved?
@midnight haven Has your question been resolved?
please...
try plugging in 3pi/8 and 11pi/24 back into the equation
@midnight haven Has your question been resolved?
ig the answer key might be wrong
Because all 4 should be right , they all satisfy the inequality
yeah
this is what it says
p is pi im guessing
teacher was lazy so didnt bother actually copying a coherent homework assignment over
afaik itr didnt work
How would 9/24pi be in the third quadrant ? 💀
Why is he considering 3theta after dividing by 6? Shouldn't he consider theta ?
i have no clue
yeah i have no clue what is going on
Idk man i suck at math , but i think the key is wrong , he should consider theta not 3theta
It would be in the third quadrant for 3theta sure because it's >pi and pi is 180° , but where tf did 3theta come from lmao
It's easy , look do u understand radian measurement?
yes
So uk that pi=180°
wait was this the reason for the 3 theta stuff
yes
So if u have 27pi/24 it will be > pi
yes
So it will be greater than 180° and 180-270° is in the third quadrant
but what do quadrants mean
like
how do i know what each of the graphical quadrants corresponds to
0 degrees is on the end of the line between the A and C
A=q1 S=q2 etc.?
Ohhh ok ok
That's where it comes from ok now it makes sense ig
so 0<x<pi/2 = quadrant 1, pi/2 <x< pi = quadrant 2, etc/?
i still dont really get it
Ye
why would you plug it back into that
shouldnt it work if you also plug it into the cos equation too
it's because at the beginning you square both sides, which means negative solutions also work when they wouldn't in the original question
if that makes sense
Because u can't take positive sq root if both quantities (sin and cos are negetive)
thats why there's answers which don't work
Ud have to take negetive
ohhhh
so you qwould plug it back into the sin3x + cos3x
it being the 4 solutions
Well what I think the mark scheme is saying is that you don't have to plug them back in to find which results are wrong
if you have your values for theta, then you know that in the original question you're looking at 3theta
that makes a lot of sense, thanks
ahh
3theta would be pi/8, 3pi/8, 9pi/8 and 11pi/8
now im ckinda confused again
if you know that between pi and 3pi/2 that both sin and cos are negative then you show that you're squaring a negative number
why wouldnt you also find what theta is for the next equation of sin
like sin6x
why wouldnt you divide the 4 sols by 6
nvm
because the original question is with 3theta. The 6theta just comes from you showing that (sin 3 theta + cos 3 theta)^2 has the same value as 1 + sin 6 theta.
i mean you can still prove the last 2 solutions don't work with sin(6theta)
one last q
but sometimes you can't
how do yo uknow that 9pi/24 is in the third quadrant
wouldnt the second start at 12pi/24
the third at 24pi/24
Ye
If ur confused about quadrants just google trigmetry unit circle
thank you
It'll make more sense if uk what a unit circle is

how do i solve by completing the square
Well by completing the sqaure
This algebra 2 video tutorial shows you how to complete the square to solve quadratic equations. This video is for high school students taking algebra 1 & 2 and college students taking introductory or college algebra. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems with solutions / answers that can help you with your next workshee...
$x^2 + 6x +9 -20=0$
Pure
You can use the 0 product principle and quadratic formula to solve this yes
Either method works
You said by completing the square so I suggested the video
