The gift together with the gift basket costs 11 EUR. The gift is 10 EUR more expensive than the gift basket. How much is the gift?
Let X the price of the gift
Let Y the price of the gift basket
Sentence 1 : X+Y=11
Sentence 2 : X = Y + 10
Now you can substitute X in (1),get Y, then substitute Y in any equation to get X.
X is the price of the gift, that's what you need

I am trying to check the isomorphism and planarity of the following graphs:
A1 = {{x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8}, {{x1, x2}, {x1, x3}, {x1, x8}, {x2, x6}, {x2, x7 }, {x3, x4}, {x3, x5}, {x3, x8}, {x4, x7}, {x5, x6}, {x5, x7}, {x5, x8}, {x6, x7}, {x6, x8}}}
A2 = {{x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8}, {{x1, x2}, {x1, x7}, {x2, x3}, {x2, x6}, {x2, x8 }, {x3, x4}, {x3, x8}, {x4, x5}, {x4, x7}, {x5, x6}, {x5, x7}, {x5, x8}, {x6, x7}, {x6, x8}}}
A3 = {{x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8}, {{x1, x2}, {x1, x5}, {x1, x8}, {x2, x3}, {x2, x7 }, {x3, x4}, {x3, x5}, {x3, x6}, {x4, x5}, {x4, x7}, {x4, x8}, {x5, x7}, {x6, x8}, {x7, x8}}}
sorry if it is hard to read
from what I am getting, A1 is isomorphic to A2, A1 is not isomorphic to A3, and A2 is not isomorphic to A3
you can draw A2 and A1 such that no edges cross i think
which mean they are planar but i am not sure about A3?
this is the graph of A3 for reference sake
<@&286206848099549185>
do I really have to !15m you
wait it wasnt 15 minutes?
oof
sorry
well
3 minutes off get me off the hook dena
6 minutes
what planarity conditions do you have
I would guess try to find a K_3,3 or K_5 ?
K_3,3 yep
but I don't see an obvious one. and I don't really wanna pull out a pen and draw stuff
undirected graphs obviously
tikz
oh actually
i think we need to remove the vertex x_6 first
and uh
i have no clue

How can I solve 5^(2x-1)=35? I keep getting stuck no matter what approach I take
have you tried logarithms?
Yes
$a^{m-n} = \frac{a^m}{a^n}$
Oh
I'm dumb
Thanks
That makes sense
Wait, when does it go from 5^2x=35(5)?
What happens after that is what i mean
LHS to RHS
U take 5 from denominator and put it on side of multiplication on other side
5^{2x} = 175
It's not gonna be a natural number, so u need to put a log ig
ye
Because there is no exponent which makes 5 to 175
Gonna be somewhere between 3-4 as a decimal
Let 2x = X
$5^{X} = 175 → \log_{5} 175 = X$
,w log base 5 of 175
Then do I do change of base so I can use a normal calculator?
Since the one I have only has log base 10 and ln
U can use whatever method u want, nothing stops u from a calculator really
Makes sense
We have bot here who can help u with calculations
X = 2x = 3.209
x = 3.209/2
,w 3.209/2
Done
Thank you for the help
x ≈ 1.6045
that method makes a lot more sense than the crap we were taught
Which method were u taught ?
I mean, I wasn't really told this method, it was just the approach that came to my mind after I saw ur problem
Perhaps if u want to, u can try it by ur told method too, so ur teacher stays happy
Now that u have answer, it will feel kinda easy
Let's try to see how correct it is
,w 5^((2×1.6045)-1)
Great

oops
try them out - see which ones give h
^
what have u tried so far
/what do you need help with exactly?
have you tried it yet?
what'd u get so far
idk where ur getting 660 from but
28 tickets
x are adult tickets
that means the remaining is child tickets
so how do u represent that ^
well
just the 28-x part
wait u wrote that wrong, u should have x +y = 28
but the didn't ask to name y to be the number of children tickets so just write the 28-x part
and b is simple, just don't overthink it
and For c, just using the answer from a and logic from b
okay so 28-x is the number of children tickets
are u comfortable with that idea?
So for part b
What’s the price of ONE adult ticket
I know
But I’m breaking it down
All the adult tickets**
it’s given to you
first sentence
Okay so one adult ticket is 30
How many is x adults tickets then?
There u go
so the price of x adult tickets is the price of one adult ticket times the number of tickets (x)
Now using this logic u solve c ^
What’s the number of children ticket?
(Part a btw)
well the price of the tickets is just the price of ONE times the number of tickets
there are 30-x children tickets
priced at 15 each
so 15(30-x) is the total price of the children tickets
the 15 gets distributed to the -x too
so 450-15x
sorry I meant 28-x so the answer is
,w 15*28
420-15x
wym
yeah
yep
and b is
this
don't write times x as xX
just keep it as 30x
and u don't need it = to anything, it's fine
so a and b is done and we just did c too
c
so we have the cost of adult tickets and the cost of the children tickets
just add them
30x + (420 - 15x)
which is just 30x + 420 - 15x
simplify
not quite
30x + 420 - 15x = 30x-15x + 420
30x-15x = 15x
so the final answer is 15x-420
as required
what
yea
+420
not -
but yeah that's where it asked us to stop
that last one now
the total cost ( so 15x+420) IS 660
That means that 660 = 15x+420
now we need the number of adult tickets
which is x
so this is really easy
30x is the price of x amount of adult tickets
but we have the total cost here
there are children tickets too so u need to account for that, that's why we use the asnwer from part ii and not ia
ia is only one part of the total cost
wym by that
yes
yup
good work!
yes
yes

I am new to abstract algebra and how modular congruence works.
In question (a) im thinking i can divide both sides by a since gcd(a,n) = 1 meaning its non-zero which should make it equivalent to what I'm trying to prove.
for question (b) I am getting lost in the syntax and would like some guidance on how to develop an answer.
thank you
@lost forge Has your question been resolved?
@lost forge Has your question been resolved?
im confused on why you included p in line 4 and how c-b = n(pw+cz-bz) implies n|c-b
p is just an integer it means a(c-b) is an integer multiple of n - because n divides a(c-b)
for the second point - pw+cz-bz is an integer since p,w,c,z and b are integers so by definition of divides, n divides c-b
okay this was a lot more complicated than i thought it would be
i follow your math and i recognize the identities you use
I just wouldnt have thought of it by myself
i initially did what i think you were going for which is basically getting to line 4 then dividing by a - but i realised i couldnt prove that p/a is an integer so i had to look for a different way - the only one i could think of was to use the gcd somehow so i made 1=aw+nz and just went from there
okay yeah that makes sense
im still getting used to what congruence actually means
the class imposes a lot of theory before providing examples so i get confused on the actual meaning of what im trying to prove
ok so (b) is saying that if the gcd is greater than 1 then this proof no longer holds
yeah pretty much
I used different variables but i just left off from when you introduced bezout's identity
Replacing 1 with d

Hello, i would like some help with a few questions relating with the properties of powers but you do not evaluate the expression.
please improve image quality, its too blurry
were those the only rules you were given?
there's an important one, power of a product that seems to be missing
$$(ab)^m = a^m\cdot b^m$$
ℝamonov
try Q2 again, with the additional rule i gave you
What do you do when there is a negative base and a positive base
Since (-1)(4) would be -4 do i use that to turn the positive 4 base into a negative so it could match with the other base
well ideally in the end result you don't want negative bases
consider $-4 = (-1)(4)$ \
and apply \
\textbf{power of a product rule:}
$$(ab)^m = a^m\cdot b^m$$
to it \
$(-4)^2 = , ?$
ℝamonov
-4 * -4 which is 16 because a negative times a negative equals a positive
true, but you fully evaluated that part which you were trying to avoid
you could convert 16 back to a base of 4 if you did that
i was trying to provide you with a route that avoids that, that you seem to be ignoring multiple times
"you could convert 16 back to a base of 4 if you did that"
It would be 2^22
the final answer, yes
-4 * -4
did you ignore the first half of that pic?
consider $\red{-4} = \blue{(-1)(4)}$ \
can you replace the $\red{-4}$ in $(\red{-4})^2$ with $\blue{(-1)(4)}$
ℝamonov
and apply \
$\textbf{power of a product rule:}$
$$(ab)^m = a^m\cdot b^m$$
to $(\underbrace{(-1)}{a}\underbrace{(4)}{b})^2$
ℝamonov

What step are you on?
1. I don't know where to begin
2. I have begun but got stuck midway
3. I got an answer but I'm told it's wrong
4. I got an answer and would like my work checked
5. I have a question about someone else's worked solution
6. None of the above
answer this
@mighty heart Has your question been resolved?
for what?
to let us know where exactly you're stuck
(If you're thinking someone would directly tell the answer that's not gonna happen)
I asked for help, I don’t see nowhere where I told them to give me the answer.
It was a general remark, some people except that. Please don't take it personally
ohh, well it says that Leila has three times the number of cards that Kayla has
so it is multiplication?
yeaah, times directly translates to multiplication but that's not what the question asks
It says Leila has 84 cards then what would be number of cards Kayla has?
Take a try at the answer
i still don’t understand.
what exactly do you not understand
the way your explaining it to me
<@&286206848099549185>
I need to get this done by 6am.
What is it about
It’s on the top.
Which grade are you in?
sorry, that does not matter right now.
It will help me find a way to explain
just explain me.
Depending on your current knowledge in grade
Ok
So
If leila has 84 cards and she has 3x more cards than kayla
so multiplication
That means that kayla has ?x less cards than leila
?
How much less cards does kayla have
oh.
Since leila has three times more, kayla has three times less
Kayla×3= Leila
No its the opposite
So if 84 cards is three times more than kayla’s cards,
Kayla has three times less cards
So you need to do a…
@mighty heart
3 times is a multiplication
What is the opposite of a multiplication?
subtraction

that’s clearly subtraction
Yes
So you see that substraction is the opposite of sum
So the what is the opposite of multiplication
Addition is already the opposite of substraction
One method is left
There is
Addition, multiplication, substraction, and?
Yes
i was abt to say that
So if leila has three TIMES the amount of cards than kayla
How do you find kaylas cards
If you did times to find leila, to find kayla you must do the opposite
So what do you do?
28
oh? that was simple.

could u show me the solution? maybe i would understand

In how many ways can you select three unique digits from six? @ripe furnace
yes
you can also think of it in another way
in how many ways can 6 people sit in 3 chairs?
i think this is called a combination
or maybe not actually
using the concept of permutation makes it easier
yeah im wrong
although combination is linked to permutation
yeah i like to think combinations as another form of permutations
ncr = npr/r!
but like if you view the question as a combination then the statement becomes "In how many ways can you select and arrange 3 digits from 6"
same thing

Is there two sets here?
Sp?
1 from 0 to .75 and .75 to 1.5?
no, there are infinite amount of sets
for every p from 0 to 1/2
for example p =0.1, 0.2, 1/3 and so on
for integer ?
p takes values of all real numbers between 0 and 1/2
there's no integer between 0 and 1/2
thats why
on the left is a union of infinite amount of sets with p from 0 to 1/2
ok, lets put it this way
for any x in the interval (0, 3/2] you can find p so that Sp contains x
and for any other value there's no p so that Sp contains x

how do i do this? ive no idea where to start
wait i may be onto something
It’s an ellipsoid
i found that (0,0,6) was a point, and thus c = 6
You can try playing with the graph and see how long is x axis, y axis and z axis to get your parameters
Well, only if you can zoom
unfortunately i cannot
points inside the ellipsoid arent part of the ellipsoid right?
ah ok
Just the same way a circle is in 2 space
gott it
(0,0,4) could be a point, i guess
im not too sure
tbh, it’s kinda hard for me only if that picture is given
yea i understand
(0,4,0) looks like a point
so ig b=4
ok so i got it partially correct
a = 1, b is not 4, and c = 5
3 maybe?
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee its right
thanks doc, appreciate the help

is cot(-x) = cot(pi - x)?
yes.
Ah, alrigjt
So we've got cot(-x) = -cot(x) = cot(π-x)
Okay

Just need help on 36. I was thinking it's the following:
for all x, y, there exists z such that x | z and y | z
x,y,z are elements of Z
I'm not entirely sure this is what you are looking for, but this might work
sorry for the spacing
AustinU
$(\forall x \in\mathbb Z)(\forall y \in\mathbb Z)(\exists z \in\mathbb Z)(z | x \land z | y)$
@daring karma
blanket
ye lolol
i was always told to separate it by variable, so i usualyl dont combine it with commas like you have in the first line
oh okay, thank you
Yah I am very rough with the notation so I am sure that is the proper way
also just a note that $x | z \neq z | x$
blanket
$x | z \equiv z = ax, z | x \equiv x = az$
blanket
right i forgot that the divisor comes first
yeah
i always jsut say it out loud to make sure lol
$a|b$ means $a$ divides $b$
blanket
that's a good of remembering actually, thank you

Given the following decimal number: -76
Convert the above number to signed 8-bit binary.
step 1. 76 in binary -> 1001100
step 2. one's complement 1001100 -> 0110011
step. 3 two's complement
0110011
-
01101001
correct?
for some reason, I see an answer of 1011 0100, but that doesn't seem correct
76 in binary
is
01001100
because its 8 bit
then apply 2s complement
10110100
it also wouldnt make sense if you had 76 represented as 1001100 because that would signify it was a negative number, assuming this is signed ints
step 1. 76 in binary -> 01001100
step 2. one's complement 01001100 -> 10110011
step. 3 two's complement
10110011
-
101101001
ok, I forgot to include the 8 bits
ty
why?
you can just go from right to left, after you see the first 1 you flip every other bit after it
so 0100
becomes 1100
and 010100
becomes
101100
alot easier to solve mentally (although computers do it using the way you are describing)
I don't see this here.
after one's complement, we have this 10110011
I, then, switch every bit after the first 1 ?
you dont have to do the 1s complement
step 1. 76 in binary -> 01001100
from there
10110100
ah, ok
after the first 1 bit (3rd place) you flip
hmm, might have to notate that
ty
and this is a trick for going from negative decimal to signed 8 bit binary?
then use this trick

i don't get the second part, "then sinks at the same rate to its end" - also sry for the repost the other channel timed me out
ok so
its saying
its gonna decrease an equal amount
like
think of a normal roof
it rises, reaches a point, then goes back to the same height it starts
right?
yeah
and normally the point is in the very centre right?
yes
so
if u rise 10 feet over the first 3 feet
then u need to decrease 10 feet over the next 3 feet
to make the point in the centre
and to make it even
right?
yep
cuz 18's technically the center
yes exactly
cuz the 0 (start) and the 36 (end) are both 12
oooooh
and if it rises equally
its gotta reach 15
like, if u started rising from either side
they would reach 15 at the same point

why do we sinx/sinx here?
presumably cause it works
when you are solving a limit you play around until you find something that works
it's not always obvious what that is
and here after some time you might notice that you have two terms of sin(x) appearing, so maybe you can try canceling them somehow
and then you get what is in the picture
they factored out sinx

Hey guys, not sure how I can explain this but im having a hard time to make a function (in java but you can make in any language you want) to clamp an angle between two other angles. So assuming that my angle is inside the two other angles he stay like that but if he passes that range he will be clamped to the nearby limit angle. In this case i draw a green line that, when an angle is outside that range it will determine what limit angle will be so could be A or B depending on the angle.
So 2 angles in degrees are given? What's the range of the given degrees [0°, 360°], [-180°, 180°] or what?
Or is it in radians?
Is in degrees, i guess we can assume that they are inside -180,180
i mean that -90 and 90 are the range?
and what is my initial angle
that i want to clamp
in this case i would need an angle that i want to clamp, a min angle and max angle
I think I kinda misunderstood your function. Could you show few input-output pairs?
I actually found a function that does what I'm looking for. It's just ridiculous because I wasted more than 1 hour looking for things with this lol but this was the expected output:
- Angle: -180.0, Min: -102.5, Max: 57.5, Result: -102.5
- Angle: -170.0, Min: -102.5, Max: 57.5, Result: -102.5
