and are their working times independent of each other
yeah, I am torn between 17 and 21
but I now think it is 21 because you can't have negative times
P1 + P2 + P3 = x/5
P1 + P3 = x/7
P1 + P2 = x/15
ye this is what I thought
wait, x?
I thought of that but x = 1
X doesnt matter
anyway where are you getting 21
using this, I get P1 = 1/105
3 = -10 minutes if you take eq 1 from eq 3
you sure?
hm
well, 3 of us got 3 different answers lol
are you sure you can just add the times up?
lets say A does a task in 5 min
B does a task in 5 min
does that mean, when A and B does the task, it is done in 0 min?
That can't be right, and I think that's what ur doing
well if the equations are correct, yes
hm
full set of solutions: person1 = 17, person2 = -2, person3 = -10
yeah, I feel really unconvinced by the negative times
prob just a badly made question
you can't finish a task that you started 2 minutes in the past
I very much doubt it
can you explain this approach?
ok put your solutions into the equations and see if they give the correct ans
ykw, I'm just gonna tag a helper as it's been 15 minutes xD
We can x as the whole task
It gives P1 = 1/105
So each minute the three of them do a x/5 amount of task
okay
it could be that person 2 and 3 speed up the task hence the negatives
and that person 1 is base rate
if you add all these together you get 5, the ans to equation 1
Yeah I actually got 105 minutes lol
21 + 1.4 + 15 doesnt equal 5
Maybe P1 is not very productive and got help from P2 and P3
I'm now 99% sure you can't just add them like that
I solved something similar last night in this server
They just use days instead of minutes
how are you getting 105 not 1/105?
I used your method
It’s actually x/105
P1 completes x/105 amount of work in 1 minutes
So it should take them 105 minutes to complete x
It worked last night so it should work now
where are you getting 105
Does your question come with an answer
😐
@azure shoal
why x/15
Should we ping a helper because you two are getting different answers?
Here
sure go for it
ping me when you get the ans
aight
@tough lion Has your question been resolved?
<@&286206848099549185>
Hey! I need help with this question. We think the answer is 105 but someone else says it is 17.
Person 1, 2, 3 complete a task in 5 minutes
Person 1, 3 complete a task in 7 minutes
Person 1, 2 complete a task in 15 minutes
How long does it take Person 1 to complete a task?
yeah thats the right ans but they dont really believe it, idk
but it shouldn't have negative answers
it really depends on how having more people affects the time to complete the task
like does have that person there just reduce a certain amount of time from the total time?
or do they all contribute together
it could be 105 as well
If A does a task in 5 minutes
and if B does a task in 5 minutes
A+B does the task in 0 minutes or 2.5min?
I guess it's this
they will do it faster
in that case its 105
yeah, thought so
but never 0
anyways, tysm for all the help
I finally understand this frustrating question lmao

I am stuck because from what I understand
"What is the formula for calculating load?
Multiply the mass of the object by the gravitational acceleration of the earth (9.8 m/sec2), and the height in meters."

hi
I want a help...here we have two curves (A) and (B) , I want to know if curve (A) is an derivative to (B) or the curve (B) in an derivative to (A).
and why?
You need to show the specifics of those functions or else we can't help
Please mention me when anyone back!!!
@charred orbit
hi
?
wait
Is the task to describe it in general?
do you want all the question ?
The derivative is the slope of a point
Which of the curves represents the slope of the other?
You mean that A is the derivative of B?
yes
That's correct
You know what a derivative is?
A
No, in general
But you learned about it in class, right?
no
since I was sick
and tomorrow have an exam
@torn jolt
please
this is the last question
I won't be able to teach you all about derivatives like this
Go watch a course or something
Derivatives is a huge topic
noo
just I want a justification that I should write it
if you can't help me no problem
It says that one function is the derivative of th other and as B is negative on the interval from -5 to 0 but the graph of A is clearly rising we can say that B is not the derivative of A
So it has to be the other way around

Hello, Solve the following problem: Several people gathered to celebrate Christmas. Each person brought three gifts to each of the other people. Knowing that in total 468 gifts were deposited near the Christmas tree, how many people were there?
is the answer 156 ? or does i'm getting baited and i need to use power ?
n = 156
``` it feels too easy so i guess i'm getting baited
but when i try to schematise it feels like i don't need power
if there are 4 people, it means each person brought 9 gifts, (3 for each other person)
so total 36 gifts
how can I find the inverse of this function
y = x+sqrt(x)
I tried to square both sides, couldn't go further
One method to finding inverses is swapping x and y's (so it would be x = y + √y and then solve for y.
I know but how can I do that?
How can you do what? Solve for y?
yes
x = y + sqrt(y)
how to solve for y
squaring both sides and trying to factor stuff out didn't work for me
Help me
Slope is change in y divided by change in x
Change in y is -5 and change in x is 2.5 so the gradient is -2
Find the slope of the line that contains (−1, −9) and (−5, 9).
so this is 4.5
right?
Um I don't think so
-4.5?
It's $\frac{-9-9}{-1+5}$
Munazza
Does it make sense
this is wrong
Why
My one is the same thing but multiplied the numerator and denominator by -1
Which cancels out
Basically I swapped the coordinates but the gradient(or slope) is still the same
I don't get the question
k
$$\frac{-9}{2} = -4.5$$
If it's calculator permited you can always type "integral calculator" on google and dump it in there.
It looks like integration by parts to get the anti derivative
we actually just learned that today
ill see what i can do
hmm
so far wolfram was the only one that didnt give me an error
ill keep working on doing it by hand and see what happens
use the fact the U is the centre of the circle
Yes so uhh can i answer triange zyu is congruent to triangle xwu?
And the reason is SAS
Is it correct?
And then the reason is SAS?
yes
The format is like statement and reason
I need 7 statements
Or something
Enlo
Anyone
Anyone
<@&286206848099549185>
Its more than 15min anyone please??
Ah no i have 3 statements
- YW and XZ are diameters
- UY,UZ,UX,UW are radii
- Angle YZU = Angle WXU - angle in same segmet are equal
And i need a minimum of 7 statements to prove
Anyone
Have you learn inscribed angles yet?
No
Tearcher gave us homework even tho he didnt discuss yet
Deadline is in 1hr and i cant-
Do you know what inscribed angles is??
Yeah
Okay
It form from?
Interior
YUZ is an inscribed angle
Well uhh i need statements for proving please
Ohh
ZUW is an inscribed angle too
Copy that
And since they are equal, YZ=XW
Okay okay
Can you do the second one?
What do || mean?
Parallel
Oh okay okay
Since they are equal and congruent?
Since it form by two equal inscribed angles
You can either prove YUZ triangle and XUW triangle are equal or using inscribed angles.
It can be SSS
Can i put SAS as the reason for this?
What does it mean for sets to be linearly independent?
I dont get why any additional assumption is necessary
First explain to me
Cause i dont get it
Why you even need any more assumptions
Then those that are already stated
Oh i see now
I actually though it was true at first wow
I found this interesting discussion
https://mathoverflow.net/questions/17740/is-there-a-version-of-inclusion-exclusion-for-vector-spaces
Seems like its a common mistake
I don’t think the “linearly independent” part is necessary
Just the (W1+W2) intersection W3=W1 intersection W3+W2 intersection W3 should be fine
How do you translate each verbal sentence to mathematical sentence?
There's no single method
Eh worth it
Wdym by that
there isn’t a math symbol for every word
Sometimes converting thought into a mathematical form is the hardest part of math haha
Like, we invent entire mathematical fields to help us do this.
I'm not quite sure how to do this problem using U substitution
I have turned u = 2+x^3
but i dont know how to get rid of the X in the top
yes
yes
hm
now move the du/dx to the other side
what do you get on the right hand side?
well right now I have dy/dx = 4 dudx/ sqrt(u)
then I have dydu/dx?
no
ah that makes sense
so i suppose you know how to go further with this
I think so
ok then, close the channel if you have no further question
yes
would integrating both sides with respect to U remove the du on the bottom
well no
dy/du is the derivative of y wrt to u
so when you integrate it wrt u
it becomes y
Not here zuyu
Cuz T is silent
But as a number itd be written as 0=0?
for him
its Chewy
Yes thats why whatever x you chose LHL=RHL
This is like saying x=x
lol
lol, thanks
That's 9x-12 on right not 9×-12
So does this as a response make sense?
mathematically yes
if I have x R y (R for relation) where x is a multiple of y, how can I test if it is transitive?
You want to set up a case where
xRy and yRz
If x is a multiple of y
and y is a multiple of z
is x a multiple of z?
if I set x=2, y=4, z=8 I can make it happen
I think it'll work for all cases if I set x=2
Hmm, actually it seems true
Even if x=5, y=15, z=30 it workls
so I think it is transitive
x=cy and y=dz
so x=dz * y
and q (the common multiple of x and z?) would be d*y here
I think i get it but still feel confsued so im going to think about it thank you~
oops actually
x= c * dz
so q= cd
what does closed mean?
Product and sum right?
In my case, rather than jk it would be cd?
so basically closed under multiplication means that it will return something in the same universe as long as it is multiplication?
I see, thank you! Glad to learn something new ( term:closed)
I am having a hard time figuring out what I need to do to start this?
Yea
You'll have to give me a sec it is 2 am
What is that
It just popped up
I pressed on it and it showed up
While I was typing
Wym by this
Oh
Oh yeah yeah yeah right angle triangle
Pythagorean theorem
?
It can't be that easy
Is it really 41 = 9 + x
Wait
No
Sorry
Yeah
Y=Ax+b?
Aaah
Im sorry I'm overthinking
Yeah A^2+B^2=C^2
9^2+40^2?
so 9^2+x^2?
instead of just plugging in 40 have it written like that
yeah
since it's coming closer would 7ft/s be negative or no?
alright
so dx/dt is -7
so 9^2-7^2?
or would I multiply -7 with 40 first
i don't
prof just gave us a basic idea but I should've studied and hammered in on it more
f(x)=9^2+x^2 right?
oh ook ok
square root it?
then 9+x ?
alright alright so if I need o do chain rule
since x squared would be my g
@velvet latch Has your question been resolved?
again i'm sorry being really slow rn
y=Sqrt(9^2+x^2)
chain rule is f'(g(x) * g'(x)
so i apply chain rule
(dy/dx'(dx/dt))(dx/dt')
which would look like that?
I know and I'm honest to God trying
I'm really sorry
I am just blank rn
Could someone help please ?
i think the answer is that it is inverted
if u factor out the 2 in the power for f(x) and square 3/2 u get 9/4
to power of x-1
rather than 1-x like g(x)
therefore it is put to power of -1 which is inverting it
this was the correct answer
this was solved because since the integral squares r you can calculate that region as being the quadrant of pi/2 to pi
but they say it can be negative
when I graphed this on desmos I got
why is it when I integrate the region in quadrant 2 I get the result for integrating quadrant 4.
I get that when you square r the negative and positives both evaluate to the same results.
but why is the key for the values im integrating corresponding to the negative graph?
thank you
Why did you ping mods? Because if you're looking for help, you don't ping mods for that
I thought you ping people for help
Not the mods
The mods aren't here to help, they can help if they want to but they're here to keep an eye on things
my bad wont happen again
Also, stop ping replying
like dont ping the helpers?
I mean stop ping replying to me
ah my bad again I dont use discord often
Yes, I don't know why it is using -r graph instead of r for the region im integrating
so area is always positive, but an integral gives you signed area
like if the curve goes below 0, then it'll add negative numbers
so you can add a negative to get the positive area you want
but why does integrating pi/2 to pi give the area of 3pi/4 to 2pi?
um if you draw the function with a pencil you'll see that's where the function goes after it leaves the 1st quadrant
it's more like a negative r value in the 2nd quadrant
sorry I am confused
like here are arrows for the path
and remember going along the path just means increasing theta
so this bottom right part has to be for theta from pi/2 to pi
since it comes right after pi/2
you just take the negative operations
like i can help you with part a
so the principal value is tan^-1(-0.824)
,w arctan(-0.824)
but the question says -360<theta<360
so u need to convert to degrees
,w arctan(-0.824) degrees
this is the principal value
