we get closer to 0?
oh
so this limit is equal to cosh(0), which is...
1
right.
lets gooo
Is there a way to easily remember graphs
I think the graphs are very useful here
specially the inverse
I can't memorize those
guess I just gotta do it

why is the 1/3 here?
eh
what u found is the direction
uve to normalise it
like /magnitude
in this case its
sqrt[(-2)^2 + 1^2 + 2^2]
= sqrt(4+1+4) = sqrt9 = 3
so when u divide by that u get
1/3
unit vector always has length 1
so that 1/3 is direction or magnitude?
this applies for all when we find through this ijk right?
i got it
np
just
dont delete ur original msg next time

Struggling to understand the intuition of dedekind cuts
For any x in the real numbers you can partition the rational numbers into two sets
Take for example root2 and root3 and it has the dedekind cuts a and b respectively
Would you then say that a is a subset of b?
And that the union of all dedekind cuts defines the real numbers?
so we have two dedekind cuts a and b. one represents the number sqrt(2) and the other the number sqrt(3). we can then define what it means that sqrt(2) < sqrt(3), namely that a is a subset of b
Why did you use the inequality sign to denote subset?
well we wanna think about sqrt(2) and sqrt(3) as numbers and not as sets
so as numbers they are smaller if the corresponding sets are subsets
@void arch Has your question been resolved?
usually A isn't allowed to have a greatest element
or at least the definitions I have seen
The question is to give an example of dedekind cuts where B1 is a subset of A1 and alpha is not strictly larger than beta
proper subset or just subset
Proper
can you give the definition of dedekind cuts you are using?
It has no maxima element in A, it’s not the empty set and finally if a is in A and b<a then b is in A aswell
Another thing I’m confused about
Do Dedekind define all real numbers, so rationals and irrationals by choosing what supremum you use as the maxima
very informally, yes
assuming I understand correctly what you mean
so you want two dedekind cuts alpha and beta, so that alpha=beta but A_1 is not the same as B_1 ?
that doesn't work. dedekind cuts are unique

Why the answer is 448? I interpret like 9 x 8 x 7 = 504, I don't understand why is 448
there aren't 9 options for the first digit
^
since it’s a 3 digit number, you don’t have 0 as a choice and you don’t have 5 as a choice
so for the hundreds, there’s 8 options
for the tens, you can’t have 5 or the number from the hundreds so there’d be 8 options again
and for the units, you can’t have 5, the number for the hundreds, and the number for the tens
so 7 options
8 x 8 x 7 choices

For the first question, unsure where teeter is.
For the second question, Not sure how to manipulate the equation further, or if I even manipulated it right to begin with. Cannot tell where does m come into play for this equation, and hence unable to continue to answer this question.
O, P and Q = 2. R and S = 4. T = 1. U = 3, V = 2. W=1, X = 2, Y = 3, Z =4.
For the third question, Have quite a weak foundation in trigonometry... Just stuck for the entirety of this question... unable to answer them at all.

hello all, i will be heading to sleep now but the questions have yet to be answered. please do not close the thread, thank you!
Upon further reading of the statement above made by Christopher I also would like to clarify, it is NOT 8 pages, but a page split into 2 due to feedback from before that if I were to post the question page by page, it would be unclear. Hence I have opted to split some questions into 2 or 3 shots to make it clearer 🙂

For 2, use the length of ac and the sin value given to work out ah. Very direct.
For 1, use the ah you got before in the classic triangle area formula 1/2 b*h
In the future, ask a specific question, not "here's the assignment sheet, i don't get it."
I see now I answered questions you already got the solution to.
For part 3 of question 1, you can form a triangle with OAH. You know the length of all 3 sides. Theta is in the corner of H. The rest should be straightforward, like part 1 and 2 were.
You may need the formula vol=1/3 height * area for pyramids.
So since H on length BC, so is OAH on like the middle of B and C?
OAH is in the third dimenson. H is between B and C, as seen in parts a and b.

Solve by “Trial and Error”.) Below is a floor plan of an art gallery.
IS it possible to take a stroll that passes through EVERY doorway WITHOUT going through the same doorway twice? HOW?
i dont think it is possible
nevermind
i counted wrong
think about what to do with the rooms with three doors
they are the problem here and also the key to a solution
there are many solutions
Its a graph with doors as vertices and edges if two doors share a room
Then you can use degree of vertex argument to say if it's possible or not

i am indeed a dumbass
where everyone
For the LCM, What will the degree of 2 and 3 be
Do you know what the lowest common multiple is?
Right so the LCM must contain 2^3 x 3^3 and 5^m
ye
mhm
Pure
$5^m = 15625$
how to find a variable exponent.
Pure
Are you allowed a calculator
ye
Then do log base 5 of 15625
ight
Or simply recognise that 125 x 125 = 15625
i got 6
Yea
so i assume thats the ans?
Yeah n must be 6

Help
i'm pretty sure there's a typo in this question. There's no need to do all of this
lim 3x is infinite
lim root(9x^2-x) is infinite
add them together.....
I mean I wouldn't state that as a general case though
Because you can still get indeterminate forms where you can transform to do l'hopital
i mean... infinity + infinity is not indeterminate
Agreed, I suspect its meant to be a -
So I did everything for nothing😔
?
Yes but that line of thinking would lead to them to think that infinity - infinity would be the same idea..
So will it be
i don't see how it should be - sqrt()
fair enough
Well the point is that inf+inf isn't indeterminate but inf-inf is
So answer is 1/6?
Yes
All that writing for nothing
correcting to 3x - root(stuff), yes the answer is 1/6
Well your method was still valid just had to flip some signs
Clarify with your teacher which they meant though
So just submit just this to my teacher?
Welp I should of used the app
Oh me and zyb have been thinking it's +inf
no you shouldn't
you should find it yourself because otherwise you don't learn
but i am confused as to why there would be a typo
so i used wolfram alpha
to check if it results in indeterminate form
So just submit this to my teacher?
Also I will repeat this over and over, if you get something of the form infinity - infinity that's NOT 0 @uncut vine
Okay got it
Thank you guys

Wondering how to get the right number since the solution is ~29.7
,w cos x=(10^2+8^2-5^2)/(2×10×8)
10^2 + 8^2 not -
Oh yeahhh
which button is that on the calculator
dont know if i have it
i see it above ur cos
yeah but it does nothing when i press it
maybe click 2nd f then cos
what do you mean
After typing cos could you use that button that I've marked by any type of function
cos^(-1) or cos -1
How do you put 2^(-1) in that calculator?
So
Type cos and do that same thing maybe it will be good
Tap
Cos
Button yx
Bracket -1
Then (139÷160)
ya dont think this calculators gonna work
😂😂😂
Use mobile
And nothin 😂

how do i proof that $\frac{\log _2\left(2 \sqrt{10}\right)}{\log _4(5)+\log {10}(5)} = \log{5}{10}$
Impractical
God
convert everything to natural logs and do some algebraic fuckery
gonna be some moderately nasty expression in terms of log(2) and log(5)
well thats kind of ugly i was hoping there was a shortcut
Ann
bc sqrt(10) = 2^(1/2) * 5^(1/2) of course
mhm
@hoary cliff with all due respect, if you don't want to or can't help, then please do not intrude in this channel.
Okk
@astral brook idt we can avoid some nested-fraction nonsense here
like the log_4(5) + log_10(5) at the bottom
i should probably ask a simpler question, whats $\frac{\log _2\left(2 \sqrt{10}\right)}{\log _5(40)}$
Impractical
thats all i need to simplify the above
wait what
yeah
log_4(5) + log_10(5) ≠ log_5(40)
no
i mean like ok hold on
i manipulated the expression to be $\frac{\log _2\left(2 \sqrt{10}\right) \log _5(4) \log _5(10)}{\log _5(40)}$
Impractical
if we can somehow proof that $\frac{\log _2\left(2 \sqrt{10}\right)}{\log _5(40)} = \log _4(5)$ then its a breeze
Impractical
so $\frac{\log_2(2\sqrt{10})}{\log_5(40)} = \frac{\frac32 + \frac12 \log_2(5)}{1 + 3 \log_5(2)}$
Ann
let $t := \log_2(5)$ then our expression is $\frac{(3+t)/2}{1 + \frac{3}{t}}$
Ann
$\frac{\frac12(3+t)}{1 + \frac{3}{t}} = \frac12 \cdot \frac{t}{t+3} \cdot (3+t)$
Ann
Ann
okay so what
aren't we done
im kinda confused could u put them in one place
Nvm i figured it out
Thanks

the centre is (-2, 2) right
oh do i find the gradient to the point
The tangent line at a point passes through that point, and has the same slope at that point as the parent equation
The center of the circle is, yes

Hi
I have a question with 4b
Why is corner E1 = corner A
Wait is it because ABC is similar with ECD
angles ADE = EDC
And E1 in ECD is similar to A in ABC
yes
use the fact that the angles of a triangle add up to 180
Yeah I got it
I wrote it down like this
Triangle ABC is similar with Triangle EDC
Corner C = corner C ( same corner )
Corner D1 = corner B ( 90°)
Therefore corner A = E1 ( angle sum triangle )
Is that correct
yup
Okay
Is there any other way of writing down
Angle C = Angle C ( same corner )
Instead of same corner is there other reasoning
no, what've you've said is correct
the angles are the same because its the same corner
yw :D

What is the probability that a regimental student is also in an engineering program?
I said 75% someone else working on this problem said 60% we don't have an answer key
I arrange this in tree diagram starting with Engineer or non-engineer
it's not 75% or 60%
suppose there's 100 students
means you pick one of 75 at random
but we arent picking at random we know the student is in the regiment
you are picking at random among those 75
ok
there are 15 engineers that you couldn't have picked
45 engineers that you could have picked
they are somewhere in those 75
I dont understand this reference
So its 60%?
yeah
how?
,calc 0.45/0.75
Result:
0.6
Im going to fail stats because I can't interpret questions
I am passing partial diff eq's and failing stats
isnt it asking P(R|E)
the other way around
ok what made you interpret it as P(E|R)
P(E given R)
probability that it's an engineer in a world where they are in the regiment
Said that way it makes more sense

gotta use PFD
It is already decomposed

i still do not really understand this then
because each portion of the limit would go to 0
so itd be 0 - 0 but that is wrong
(infinity)^(-1/2) is 0
and (infinity + 1)^(-1/2) is also 0

no but if i do that it's divide by 0

tried 13!/4!(13-4)! and tried 13!/(13-4)!
@shadow halo Has your question been resolved?
i think it might be 6x6x6x6
bc they're are 6 ways to chose the 1st colour
bc repeptitions are permitted then they're still 6 ways to chose the 2nd
i think i'm not sure
damn !
i think you are right
at least that gets me to a possible answer
but i gotta admit im still not understanding how you got there? like 6 pos. colors but ... head scratch
my thought process was
we have 6 colours
and 4 "spots" to fill them with
so if i am picking a colour for the 1st spot i have 6 colours to chose from
bc repetitions are allowed
if am picking a colour for the 2nd spot i have still 6 colours to chose from
again i'm not sure if this is correct
ok i see the thought process. and its the only option that has given me an answer thats available so im going to run with this !
thank you!!

Also don't write integrals in terms of two different variables.
Either the whole integral in terms of x or all of it in terms of u
You should simplify this first by factoring the x inside the square foot
Square ROOT
Not foot smh autocorrect
i dont understand
Try writing 3x² + 6 in terms of 2 + x²
Wasn't this pretty much exactly like the other question lol
Well, plus extra steps I guess

Hey, I need to solve the exact values of constant a. How would I go about doing that and have I done right till this point?
@flint geyser Has your question been resolved?
Solve the equation f(x) =0
What kind of expression do I make next?
can u translate what it says
I can try
the ones with additional constants like a in this case are so hard for me
so it says
a) Check with applet, with which values of a the function f(x) value at x coordinate -3 is 6
b) Solve the constant a:s exact values
applet is just a simple "game" or simulation with x and y axis
u don't have to worry about that

$\frac{1}{x} = \frac{c}{1} - \frac{b}{a}$
hmm?
Correct
im sorry im quite confused
what did u do to get that
I got D
ask them what they did or guide them on how to
Thow the b/a to the other side
they got this which is ok so far
idk where this appeared from
so to make it positive i have to swap other side also
Yes
idk before i was able to solve these for some reason im stuck here again
where did a neg even appear from
U only need 1 step to get x to tbe other side
Wait, what neg
idk
the person was saying neg x n stuff
Oh
Theg are talking about the c-b/a i think
ive no idea what is being done rn
lol
just realised thats an a
i thought its a q
like
lol
uhm
Yes it's wrong
damn i am really stuck now 😂
I forgot ti flip it
Right now the equation is
1/x = c - b/a
yea
And u want to get rid of the x from tbe bottom of the fraction
Because that is causi mg problems
true
So how do u do that
multiply by negative 1?
Btw, if u multiple something on one side, u do the same on tbe other
u can start with like making the 2 fractions 1
That works too
c-b/a?
yes
okay
Try combining the fractions
now i need to flip the nominator and denominator
Try again
How do u normally add fractions
For example, 1/5 + 3/5
What would it be
4/5
How about 1/2 + 1/4
3/4
Good
um
Now how did u add them
Yes
which would be X(a)
ca - ba idk damn its far on this exercise
Thats incorrect, lets look at it like this
Write 1/2 + 1/4 in terms of the denominator 4
2/4 + 1/4
So what did u do to the first fraction
multiply by 2 to have denominator 4
Yes, the top and bottom
Yes
okay got that part now
So what would the equation so far be
(ca- b) / a
as we flip the denominator we have to change from neative to positive no?
or opposite
Why did h flip it
That is not how h get rid of the fraction 1/x
hmm
Just write it in terms of 1/x= …
multiply by x would give us 1
so thats not whats needed
1/x is same as x to the negative power 1
If u multiple by x, what would happen on both sides
1 = x (ca-b/a)
-x + 1 = (ca-b/a)
Ni
im wrong here
X(ca-b/a)Is a fraction
Lets make an example
I dont mind
U made b the subject
1/b = x
x = -1 (ca-b/a)
No
1 = x (ca-b/a)
Make x the shbject
We said that 1 = xb is the same as 1/b = x
1 - (ca-b/a) = x
Try again
1/1 divided by ca-b/a
Nope
What happens when u need to divide a fraction
a / ca-b
because u multiply the nominator by the denominator from the other fraction
x= a/ca-b
Yes
answer A
U got there :D
i see now
C sorry
Yes
i didnt learn algebra at school and i am trying to learn it with udemy
it comes with struggles
Ic
🙃
School definitely gives a bit if a boost with the basics but as u progress, its mostly about your own studies imo
