do you know about least common multiple?
Right hand side
Solving fractions ?
I mean adding them ?
Like whats 1/2+1/4 ?
oh ye i think i know that
Noice
Try bringing all the x terms to the right hand side
So that constant terms are in one side
And the variable terms are in another side
=X
5+ 22/24 × X = X
yes
Now move 22X/24 to the right hand side so that only 5 is on the left side of the equal to sign
Whats the new expression now
5 = X + 22/24X?
YAY
Now 5 =x (1-22/24)
Do u get it
so then 5= 2/24 x
Yep
thank you, I started to get it with your help
btw
ur muslim right?
Uhh
Yah
But my username "Muhammad Sumbul" is an internet meme
Oh

@quiet glade Has your question been resolved?
Hey
Can I help
What way
You have to write it in polar form
It is simple
Ok let.me show your way
You expand it ??
By polar form you can do that in 3 steps just
Ya then
I think polar form is much helpful you should try it
May I explain it

I'm struggling understanding division. It's a magical operation that I use all of the time without really understanding its usefulness. I've been using this example to understand multiplication:
For every 1 group, there are 4 flowers. The ratio from flowers to groups is: 4:1
If multiplication is the process of repeatedly adding a number to itself, then:
4 flowers * 3 groups = for every 1 group, add 4 flowers (until there are 3 groups)
3 groups can be broken down into individual units: 1 group + 1 group + 1 group. So, this is a process of iteration.
likewise, when we divide 12 flowers by 3 groups ( 12 / 3 = 4) . What exactly is going on here?
12 flowers / 3 groups = for every 1 group, do what??
12 flowers / 3 groups = each group has 4 flowers
Division is intrinsically a more complicated thing than multiplication
It is the inverse process
If every group has 7 flowers and there are 6 groups, there are 7*6=42 flowers in total
And if there are 42 flowers in total and there are 6 groups, each group must have 42/6=7 flowers
is there a concrete or iterative process to get 7 flowers
I get long division
but when you add units it gets confusing
Imagine your example, 12 flowers and 3 groups.
You can subtract 6 from 42 repeatedly until you are left with zero
Give 1 flower to group 1, another flower to group 2, and another flower to group 3
You have one flower to each group, so now you have 9 flowers
42-6=36
36-6=30
30-6=24
24-6=18
18-6=12
12-6=6
6-6=0
So 6+6+6+6+6+6+6=42, therefore 6*7=42 and 6=42/7
You repeat this loop while you have flowers
Every time you finish the loop, you count as one iteration
When you are done with the flowers, the number of iterations is the answer
You can do it just by adding 1 by 1
Okay this makes sense
I can think of the phrase "divide by" or the division symbol as allocating 1 unit of the divisor to each group
Yes
Every operation can be done with addition
By operation you mean the other arithmetic operators?
Subtraction, multiplication, power, logarithms, etc..
Subtraction*
How do you do subtraction with addition
unless you mean by making an algebra problem out of it?
isn't the objective to isolate the variable by continuously doing the inverse operation
To represent the subtraction with an addition, you take the opposite of the number
Of example if you want to subtract 5 to 8
You add to 8 the opposite of 5, which is -5
So you would have 8 + opp(5)
If you can put in a fraction, it’s like normal multiplication
For example 2/3 times 3/4
You know how to multiply 2 and 3 with addition
2+2+2
And also the denominator
If it’s impossible to write with one single fraction
You will need to use infinite sums of fractions
To get an approximation
But every number with decimals that is not irrational can be written in fraction form
That way you can multiply by using additions

@stuck field Sorry for the ping but again i am not entirely sure, again the original function is sin(cy) ignoring the constant U_o, shouldnt we use the chain rule here? otherwise how is the answer cUcos(cy)?

@leaden plover Has your question been resolved?
This is wrong.
Chain rule doesn't get unnecessary 0s.
I'm not sure what is it that's confusing you, truth be told.
You've written something, that's what you think should be correct, or is it something that's given to you and you think it's incorrect? Or what?
As you've written, that statement is incorrect.
-dU/dy is not U_0 * c * cos(cy)
(if the channel closes, then don't ping me after you reopen it or open another)
The second line is what i think the answer is
The answer in the text book is -c * U * cos(cy)

Ak parrallel to the paralllogram plane?
yes
I even turned to the neural network, she was talking about some vertical angles there
Angle AOK= angle COK as vertical
аnd based on this, therefore, that OK is perpendicular to this plane

hi
so I get that sin(pi-x) = sinx
but i want to know if there are similar rules for tan and cos?
I'm assuming you mean these
yeah
oh
cool
thanks
@smoky nimbus but it works for all 0 theta right?
like any angle?
not him but it should, but for tangent, make sure that theta is in the domain of tangent
im just saying beware of angles that are coterminal to $\pm \frac {\pi} 2$
znsn
because $\tan \frac {\pi} 2$ doesnt exist
znsn
don't you just mean anny angle between two line sthat is 90 degrees?
@crystal drift
basically
and the coterminal angles to theta = pi is 0=90 degree and 0=270 degree
and x should not be those values
because tan 90 or tan270 dont exist
@crystal drift correct?

In number 4 im not sure how to even start, the only info i have gathered is one side equals two which is already given
you can start by finding each of the shown angles
i found that angle P3=108 and P1 and P5 = 36
this is a dodecagon not a decagon
oh crap
i read it wrong
so P3=120 and P1 and P5=30
i was thinking of a 30-60-90 like this
but i dont know if thats the way
i still have no idea on how to start
it helps to know the 15-75-90 triangle relation
sorry i kept searching the internet and i couldnt get a precise answer
i think its somehting about cos15 and then the 75 angle being sin(15)
im not sure how to plug that it in since cos15 is an irrational number i think

99y + 198y + 204 = 0
step by step solution please
combine like terms
we have two y terms here
99y and 198y
so add them together
u get 297y
so 297y +204=0
No sorry
subtract 204 from both sides
I meant
y^2?
99y^2 + 198y + 204 = 0
ok so use quadratic formula
Juke | ping me if no response
that's the quadratic formula btw
What is next?
So we have 2 solutions?
I can’t solve it
u have two roots, yea
,w solve 99y^2 + 198y + 204 = 0
u should have gotten these
What does it mean?
it means that this equation will equal 0 when the y is equal to either one of those
in this case, they have to be imaginary. bc imagine this eqn is in terms of x and u graph it, it never crosses the x-axis, so it doesn't have real roots
but there are imaginary ones
which is what these are here
do u know what imaginary numbers are yet?

Hi
I want some help in making a choice
So, I'm going to buy a CAS, either mathematica or maple
but i cant decide which one
some people praise one while completely denying the other is good
isn't maple mostly for engineers?
heck both mathematica and maple has a comparison site where they boast about themselves
well, im not an engineer but ill use it for checking if computations (numeric and symbolic) are right or not
@zenith vortex Has your question been resolved?
<@&286206848099549185> has anyone tried any one of them?

Hi
So basically why must 2 be added before the piXr^2
When I’m asked to divide abcd by the circles
The areas of abcd by area of circles
are u saying why its 2 pi r^2 and now pi r^2 ?
area of circle = pi r^2
the shape u have has 2 circles so the total area of the circles would be
area of first circle + second circle
pi r^2 + pi r^2
2(pi r^2)
I confused myself
How do I go about to get the area of the rectangle
The remaining
So is it 4r x 2r
yeah thats the area of the whole rectangle
So 8r - the circles area
what are u to find?
The area of the places not covered by the circles
ah ok
then this is correct but its 8r^2
4r * 2r = 8r^2
$$4r \cdot 2r = 8r^{2}$$
JustToPro
Ah
i mean thats basic algebra
yeah
if u want , u could factor out the 2r^2 term
$8r^{2} - 2(\pi r^2) = 2r^2(4-\pi)$

Please don't occupy multiple help channels.
Let $n$ be odd, $n\ge 3$. Show that the edges of the complete graph $K_n$ cannot be partitioned into blocks such that each block consists of the edges of a Hamiltonian graph
So a Hamiltonian path has n -1 edges
the total number of edges of K_n should be n choose 2
so the number of paths is n/2, which isnt an integer for odd n's
so this cannot be partitioned
is my logic fine?

Correct solution for A!
ty
Idk about B tho, that one seems pretty cut and dry and idk how they got their ans
if your point is in quadrants 2-3 (i.e. the x is negative) you have to add π = 180° to the given angle from arctan (since it can only give angles in quadrants 1 & 4)
I did tan^-1 (-4/-1) and tan^-1 (| -4/-1 |) and both marked wrong
is this prior or after
like would I do
(-1, -4) (given coordinates)
arctan(-4/-1) + 2pi
just arctan(-4/-1) + π. the angle is exactly opposite what it should be so adding a half-rotation flips it over

Where should i plug rv+sw to show that this is linear transformation?
Having trouble reading the upper coordinate of f((x y z))
Should I do Something like this?
What should f(0 0 0) be?
(1,0)
Yes, is f a linear transformation?
hm
can i tell it from just this?
ou yes you are right never noticed this
nice that eases thing up a lot
but using my method how could i do that?
well you could for example set v=(x,y,z) and w=(a,b,c). then what is rv+sw?
but for example when we have transformation $f:P_4(x,\mathbb{R}) \rightarrow \mathbb{R},f(p(x))=p(3)$ this condition with zero does not hold does it? and it is linear transformation
Slowaq
the zero polynomial evaluated at 3 is zero
wait how do you write out this zero polynomial?
0
first degree would mean it has an x in it
depending on definition the zero polynomial either has degree 0 or degree -infty
hm so then 1 is what degree polynomial?
still degree 0
there is no unique zero degree polynomial
there are lots of polynomials with degree 0
is it like zero degree polynomial is equal to some constant? P(x)=c?
yes
alright now it makes sense
Zero degree polynomials are P(x) = c with c not zero
ugh but how P(3) is equal to zero then? here
its still the polynomial that is constant zero
its zero everywhere
no matter what you plug in
but why did he write c ≠ 0?
like I said before, depending on defintion the zero polynomial has degree -infty. not degree zero
here when i plug zero matrix its determinant is zero but this isnt linear transformation how come?
but that doesnt change that it is also a constant polynomial
ah alight i think i get it now
well mapping zero to zero is a very mild requirement
not everything that satisfies it is linear
f(x)=x^17-x also maps zero to zero
but its not linear
yes i figured
it seems its good requirement for quick first elimination
alright i think thats all thx for help

assuming you publish a video on youtube , 30 days before your video got 300 views and 60 likes. find the probability of getting 4 like tomorrow
This is what I did:
P kf getting a like when you get a view is 60/300
So p of getting 4 likes would be 4 power of thay
But my ta said it's like n=10, p =0.2 and x =4 so just use binomial
But I am still not able to convince myself so can someone please explain

May I please have help with both questions
we know that AB = BC, so ABC is an isosceles triangle
and BC = 4y + 1
4y + 1 + 4y + 1 + 2y - 5 + 5y + 1 = 178 (perimeter)
15y - 2 = 178
15y = 180
y = 12
,w 19^2 + 61^2 = x^2

when writing the cos, sin, etc for a coterminal angle that is negative, do i write is as the negative or where the angle is on the unit circle
ex:
do i write
sin -pi/2 =
or
sin 3pi/2
I would do 3pi/2 but it depends on the domain also
!original
Please show the original problem, exactly as it was stated to you, with the entire original context. A picture or screenshot is best. If the original problem is not in English, then post it anyway! The additional context might still be helpful. Do your best to provide a translation.
Regular unit circle I would use 3pi/2 but -pi/2 isn’t wrong either
they asked for -30º so you should say -30º

can anyone help me with this graph theory proof?
I have something down, and I think its on the right track, but I am using almost no mathematical language
What I have right now:
proof by contradiction: Assume that no such j > 3 exists. This means that for every vertex Vj with j > 3 for which {v2, vj} E E(G) we also have {V3, Vj} E E(G). Now consider the degree of V2 & V3. The problem statement says that deg(V2) > deg(v3), but if every neighbor of v2 (except possibly V1) is also a neighbor of v3, then v3 would have at least as many neighbors as v2, which contradicts our assumption that deg(v2) > deg(v3), thus there must exist j > 3 such that {v3, vj} is not in E(G)
I guess there is some mathematical language in there, but is it enough? (forgive me, for I know not what I am doing)
I think that's pretty good, one thing you could maybe do is note that because {v1,v2} not in E(G) and {v1,v3} in E(G) that the degree of v3 is bigger than deg(v2) if there's no neighbours j > 3
And I think you're using a fine amount of math language

a question on the degree and order of a differential eqn
but for the following
i figure the order is 3
but for degree do i have to choose to classify the t or y?
i understnad the rule of homogeneity
but im not sure how to tie that in with linear/nonlinear degree
y is important, its order of the derivative
ok
but coefficients are not constants, be ware of it
got it
cos is "ugly" element here 🙂
so it IS linear?
no
combines t and y as its input
yes
perfect

do you know how to find the surface area of each of the faces of the shape?
the area of a triangle is (base length times height) / 2
the the area of a rectangle is the base length times height
once you find the area of every side you add them together to get the surface area

hello i need help with a proof
P1 = (x1, y1) and P2 = (x2, y2) such that y > 0 and x1 < x2. C is a circle that contains the points P1 and P2, and is tangent to the x-axis at the point (x3, 0). Prove that the condition x1< x3< x2 cannot always be fulfilled for a circle C given any two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2).
I need some intuition as to where to start
i would think youd have to find a way to construct x3 to break the condition
you can use geogebra to get some intuition
how would i use geogebra
i will make one for you
alright

to find the vector SR i did <3-2, 3-0, 0-0>=<1,3,0> and for RQ <1-3, 2-3, 2-0>=<-2,-1,2>
for SR x RQ i got 6i -2j +5k
you should do (SR x RQ) / 2

Do you know snell’s law?
Presumably you’ve seen this??
in any case, Snell’s Law gives the relationship between the refractive indices of two media and the incident/refracted angles
Now you just have to identify what your variables are
And then you can solve for the unknown one
ok
wait but like
is n1 multiplied by sin of 1? or is sin1 like a variable of the first number
i don't really get it
would the equation be 1.5(sin45) = n2(sin65)
just simple algebra?
theta_1 is a variable, namely the incident angle
Yeah it is
but theta is the angle, so
ok
thanks
lemme solve real quick and get back to you
ok
so
i got n2 = 1.544
yo dude, i need some helo with #1 on the bottom part of the same page
use the table to get your variables
well i did
and i got to hte point of 0.5 = 1.523(sin())
and so Im thinking, right
if i divide 0.5
by 1.523
do i just get sin (1.523)?
sorry no
sin(0.322)?
I don’t follow what you’re doing
ill send a pic
kk
GMDennis
where is this coming from
$0.5/1.523 = 1.523/1.523$
GMDennis
listen just look at the pic
no but how are you getting sin(0.328)?
right ok im really sorry we need to step back, i was under the delusion that the sin of 30 was 0.5, it's 0.988
Sin(30) is 0.5
you were correct the first time
You should have 0.328 = sin(theta_2)
well yes, that's what i have
but what do i do with that?
is that simply my final answer?
use the arcsin on both sides of the equation
but it isn't, we still need to find theta 2
ok
i got 19.147 degrees
is that correct?
looks fine to me
so I have to apply arcsin to both sides, so sin^-1(0.328) = 19.147
while the sin(theta_2) cancels out
ok
wow, this is insane
im in 10th grade and never would have dreamt of doing this kind of math
in pHYSICS class
WOAH
WOAH
2?
I think Snell’s Law is a fairly standard 10th grade thing isn’t it?
idk math class hasn't taught it yet, i learned sohcahtoa in 8th grade but not in 9th, teacher had to reteach it
listen
how do i do number 2
it has like exponents and shit
terrifying
I mean it’s a number lol
yeah but
Use the refractive index formula
it doesn't make sense compared to the others
snells law, but how do I use it here? is 2.7 * 10^8 the n1 or n2?
it is not
it is a “slowed” speed of light
i presume you were taught that the speed of light is c = 3.0*10^8 m/s?
To calculate the refractive index of a material, we are essentially asking about how much it slows light
teacher didn't want to go into the bs of 299------------ so he just said 300000000 m/s
The question says you have a slowed speed of 2.7*10^8 m/s
correct
Well yeah it’s 299,792,458 m/s for reasons
so do we just divide 270000000/300000000?
But 300,000,000 is way nicer
is this what we do
Other way around actually
If a refractice index has value of 1.5, that means that light moves 1.5x slower in it
Ig more accurately, it moves 1.5x faster in a vacuum than it does in the material
ok yeah i get it, but what unit at the end of 1.111
Refractive indices have no units, note that the units in both the numerator and denominator are m/s
So they cancel out
I mean you can write that yeah
k
so the next one is about light travelling throw a liquid
im thinking it's water, but im starting to doubt that real quick
yeah it's wrong
is it crown glass? Sure as seems to me like it

Is the graph on the right y= f(x)
The intercept turns into -9
Idk
How would i know if the
Intercept is -9
If the graph is absolute
It looks like the graph is of 1/f(x)
So all the inputs are the same we just take the reciprocals of all the outputs
Does that make sense
Input is 1/9?
The inputs are the x axis

my teacher gives that this function is a concave function when x∈ (-infinity,0),(0,1/2)
convex when ∈ (1/2, infinity)
where did he get the 0 from?
did I do something wrong?
the task was to: find the inflection points of the function and the intervals of concavity and convexity
