1:3 means one is three times the other
so if sides "XY" and "YZ", say, are in the ratio 1:3::XY:YZ
that means YZ is 3 times the length of XY
one sec
oki
Yeah, 4:1
if it was AB/AM
Yes

Can somebody help me with the following question, I tried finding abs(a) and adding it to abs(b), abs(a) + abs(b) = abs(a + b). However I dont understand how to get a range from this.
Are you aware of the triangle inequality?
Also, abs(a+b) is not always equal to abs(a)+abs(b)
In general, abs(a+b)≠abs(a)+abs(b)
I am not
Please look it up
This one? a + b ≥ c
It states
abs(abs(a)-abs(b))≤abs(a+b)≤abs(a)+abs(b) for any vectors a and b
Writing 3 letters with a ≥ sign in the middle has no meaning
Try using this result here
for the middle part abs(a+b), how would i plug in the b if i dont have the vector for b and only the magnitude?
or acc wait
nvm
i got it
tyyyyy @restive niche
Don't plug in anything
We are trying to find the range of abs(a+b)

Ima be honest I gpt'd some of this and some of my friends think its wrong can someon check my shi 😭
Don't asky why its in canva
It's 19/2?
huh
Is this your answer?
It was
But my friends said
its 9/2
And I made it mixed
I have to make it mixed cause Im graphing it
In this exercise you have to use fractions?
Actually you could say that 1/2 is 0,5
And just add them
So 9+0,5 is 9,5
Or the teacher said you cannot do it?
No decimals
Why do you do that again when your adding fractions?
We can't add fractions when they have different denominators
So we multiplied by 2
9/1 so it's 18/2 and we add to 1/2 it will be 19/2
Is this understandable?
If so, you can redo all exercises
Last question
Mb bruv
So uh
Basically
Im tryna graph this linear function right
If I solve all these
And graph it
Would it be a straight lin
If my stuff isn't straight its wrong right
But if your teacher said to do it all, then do it...
Yea
Yeah sh did
Yeah suprisingly all gpt'
chat gpts and online stuff
Wer correct
Im trusting that instead of my dumbahh friends
We need a similar denominator to add
Oh
So thats why we
multiply numerator
And denominator
Cause

hii, how do i do part ii?
what does your sketch look like
so intuitively the inequality should be solved by intervals (-infinity, a) and then (b, infinity)
going off of the graph
so to find a and b you just need to solve the equality
huh a and b?
just names for some variables
because you can see on the graph, the function is positive from -infinity up to like -5/2
and it increases from basically 0 up to whatever you like
so at some point it'll be 5/6
call that point a
so from -infinity to a
it'll be between 0 and 5/6
then similarly on the other side, it goes down from infinity to 0, so at some point it'll be 5/6 again
call that point b
and then from b to infinity it'll be between 0 and 5/6
so that gives the solution
ah
well ok multiply everything in the inequality by 6
it's basically the same
oh wait i'm dumb
yeah i didn't notice the negative
that changes things
you can multiply everything by -1 but that changes the direction of the inequalities
so you'll have to modify the reasoning i used a bit

first we can draw the diagram like u did
then we can apply the rule of Z shapes to connect the vector arrows like this
now we have this vector diagram, now we can use trig to find the final velocity
im unfamliar with the rule of z shapes...so you added the angles?
oh mb
rule of z shapes states that the angle of mirrored sides of a Z shape with the lines being parallel are the same
i just drew the same line of the wind coming in connected to the vector line of the plane, to create a Z shape
then i matched the angles
ok so with that, how do I get the true coarse and speed
when you conenct the vectors together i think u can just use trig to find the final velocities
or wait actually
dont think u need to do the z thing
can just make it simpler
mb
we can just draw this diagram, use trig to change the velocities to be stricly up/down, left/right
hmm so since the wind is blowing the same direction the plane is headed its giving it a speed boost? so then the angles would be 105 that makes more sense
here's the horizontal and vertical velocities of the plane
the wind would blow the plane down, slowing it down in regards of up/down velocities, but yes it would give it a speed boost going to the right
and here is the vertical and horizontal velocities of wind
for the horizontal velocities, since it's going the same direction we will add it
for the vertical velocities, it is going the opposite direction so we will minus it
and this should be it
ahh ok, so I would leave in the form of a vector right?
i mean after adding them together u can turn it back to a velocity
here, u can just find the velocity from this
just make the 476. something number accurate, i just put a bunch of dots cuz honestly i cant bother writing 20 numbers every time
ok thanks gang!
np, honestly im not 100% sure of my answer but i hope it's right lol

Hello
Is the 5 in red the exponent of 10 or is it the question number?
i doubt its an exponent
it seems to be the question number of another column of questions to the right
Hmm
this doesnt look solvable
You can try finding the third side of the bigger triangle using Pythagorean theorem and then find out the height using the same thing
dont we need at least one more side length or one angle
to find the exact value of x
wait nevermind
this is harder than it looks though
We have three unknowns and three triangles to apply Pythagoras theorem on so it's prbly solvable
yea for some reason i didnt notice large triangle is right angle
also all 3 triangles are similar
so angles are same
therefore side ratios same
With this you'll have to solve a quadratic in the end though

What it means if a limit tend to a number and not to infinite
that means the limit exists and is finite
oh, you're talking about sequences ?
I’m just making guesses, they didn’t state it clear
lim an
n -> 0
In this came
Case*
It tends to 0
What is the difference
Lim an
n -> infinite
n gets very close to 0
its a finite value
just very close
n going to infinite is a very big number
Oh so the highest number is very close to 0

Hii, can someone help me? What am I supposed to do in cases where tg or ctg are not defined? (for example here ctg pi is not defined)
Also these are supposed to be addition and reduction formulas
@tame marsh Has your question been resolved?
<@&286206848099549185>
@tame marsh Has your question been resolved?
Hi, sorry bad Wifi. Basically I am doing a task that uses adition formulas. I dont understand what am I supposed to do when tg or ctg are not defined.
sorry i cant help you with that one
Like here where ctg is pi whoch is not ddfined
That's alright, thanks for trying.
ctg is cotangent?
Yes
well, isnt this just asking for you to simplify it in a way where it is solvable
not to find an exact number answer
what if u seperated it out into 2 parts
(correct me if im assumng the question wrong btw)
Thats also what I though but In the book it says that the correct answer is 7/24 which is what confuses me
oh wait
so ur finding t
ok
1st i assume u simplify it tho still
lemme get sm paper
So this is the full task
Neither actually😅
?
Wait
u said the answer is 24/7
Ill try to explain
So this is the adition formula for ctg
so ur trying to find ctg(pi+t)
yes
ctg pi itself is undefined
yes, and idk how to solve it when ctg is undefined
I knew how to solve the tasks before this because every function has its value, but idk how to solve this if its undefined
hmm
ok
let me play around with it
i haven had to d this in 3 yrs so sorry if i wont be able to help
but ill try
That's okayy, its honestly so nice of you to even try and help
Also I am gonna warn you, sometimes the answers thar are written in the book are wrong, so there is a chance of that happening, but usually its right
alright
Thank youu💕💕
i think we have to
eliminate the pi somehow
so in ur final answer the book provided
it says cot(t)=24/7
if we did have to find cot(pi+t), if we find cot(t) 1st, we find out what t is
and we can add it to pi to find wtv
this question is so ew...
one sec
ok im actually
sonfused
confused*
@tame marsh Has your question been resolved?
its prolly sm confusing trig rule ngl
Either that or the book really did provide a wrong answer
yh im not sure, but i can look into it with another friend tmrw if u still need help
Its alright, you dont need to, theres a low chance the professor will put it in the test
But thank youu<3
But literally thank you so much

The question was to find the domain, range, and all intercepts of the function below. My work is attached and I’m stuck on how to get everything
$\log_e(x) = \frac{3}{x^2 + 4}$
ColdTee
Is this right?
Yes that’s right
Oh but there’s not loge
ln(x)?
Just h(x)
Yes sorry my handwritings messy
why have you written $x^2 + 4 \geq 0$?
ColdTee
Can you not just tell the answer
you talkin to me ?
Yes
I did this for square root functions so I thought it would work the same for thse kinds too
you deal with it brooo i see the efforts
Well there is no square root here
Well you can't have the denominator 0
First
And it can have negative values
Because there is no square root here
Ah i see
The only value it can't have is 0
Yes
ColdTee
And the only way you can have it 0 is when x is imaginary
So this is defined for all real numbers
Domain is all real numbers in that case
Since you know the domain is all real numbers
You can find out the range yes?
Start with 0
What do you get when you put 0 as a value for x
You get 3/4
Yes and what about when x = 1
3/5
Notice that x = 1 and x = -1 will give the same result
Because of square term in denominator
Oh I see that
Now you have to see that
For all numbers greater than 0 as input
The result will be less than 3/4
Cause as the denominator gets very large and numerator remains same the number as a whole keeps getting smaller
Say x = 2
3/8
Which is less than 3/4
Okay yes I see
So what do you think the range will be
Yes it is
Ohh
Okay okay
So is there like a concrete method to find the domain and range for every function or does it change based on the function
Because I know for the square root ones I do the function > 0 to find the domain
Yeah cause square root is defined for positive real numbers
Actually
It is only > 0 when in the denominator
For instance $y = \sqrt{x}$
ColdTee
Can have $x\geq0$
ColdTee
Not just > 0
Ah right right
You can't have 0 in denominator ever remember that
Alright
And you can't have negative inside square root
Ever
And if there is square root in denominator then you can't have it negative nor 0 so > 0 in that particular case
Hope you understand
How about for problems like these?
What method would I use?
Mhm
You can't have 0 for denominator like I said
So that's the only condition
For this question
You have to watch out for absolute value questions
They are a pain
But I think that is not taught yet
For you
Okay okay
Got it
So for that problem is it possible to do x^2 + 4 > 0 ?
Because the only condition is to not have 0 in the denom
Well are you forgetting negative numbers
Ohh
So is that why its all real numbers then?
Yes
Ah okay
Sorry going back to this quesiton
How would I find the intercepts?
So (0,3/4) ?
Yes
I don't think it has any x-intercept
Equate y = 0
What do you get
We get very close to 0 but never 0
That's why the range was (0,3/4]
Not [0,3/4]
Yeah
Np

<@&286206848099549185>
they still make yall do that question
in maths
thanks ;>
im assuming it has to do with trig
duhh
of course
its a trigonometry question
rip
dont tell me ydk trig
Then will you help me pwease
pwweeaaaseee 🥹
A parachutist is descending vertically. How far does the parachutist fall as the angle of elevation changes from 50 degrees to 30 degrees which is observed from a point 100m away from the feet of the parachutist when he touches the ground.
let me think 💀
so would
tan(50)=x(1)/100
and tan(30)=x(2)/100
and x(1)-x(2)
work
x is the perpendicular?
yh
the distance from the ground to the parachute
so the 1st equation is at 50 degrees
from those 2 places right
so 1st u fnd the full height where he is
at then the full height where he is at at the 30 degree angle
the distance betweent he 2 is where he's falling
right?
like if he's 2000 feet high at 1, and 1000 at the other, he fell 1000 feet
Do we need to find the horizontal distance or the vertical distance?
i assume the horizontal
cuz he's falling downwards
and the dude watching is 100m away
so its js a triangle
x is the height
100 is the base
but x is pperpendicular distance
its verticalll
use sohcahtoa
whattt
no
x is js random
ass
variable
ok make it z
is that better
its js that side that u dk
js = just ??
yes
look
tan is equal perp/base
perp is perpendicular (duhh ofc)
now if we're finding x (or z whatsoever) , we're basically finging a vertical distance
but a horizontal distace is required in the question
help meeeeeeeeeeeee
you have don it like that 😭
aight bet bet
yes
very good job
that works too
tell me the solutionnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
idk how to rotate the img
,rotate
IGU
yeah okay let me see
yeah I'm just going to help
why 😿
but without sending a thousand messages
does this make sense tho
🤣
opposite over adjacent
blocked
goddan Alana is doing a good job tho
with the images
you should look at the image
i dont do well with words, more of a visual person
ly ya alana for the effort ❤️
ok but do u get what im saying
it makes complete sense
uh huh
you're like my lil bro
it's kinda funny
anyway if you look at alana's diagram
you want a relation between x, a and the angle of elevation
tbh i drew the same diagram after reading the question
there is a trig function that can help you here
tangent
but i doubt that we need to find x
okay give me $tan(\theta)$ where $\theta$ is the angle of elevation
nosqldb
NO U DONT
let's reread this question
A parachutist is descending vertically. How far does the parachutist fall as the angle of elevation changes from 50 degrees to 30 degrees which is observed from a point 100m away from the feet of the parachutist when he touches the ground.
so when he falls down to the ground
ezplain pls 😿
how far does he fall vertically
he is 100 m from the reference point
so thats the question??
good job mystic
no it's not
its the question makers fauly guys
no, its js u
that's just rude
mhm

it's the question makers fault
🤣
anyway let's continue solving the q
nah nah it aint rude im not that soft
lol
without sending a million messages
...
ok
tan of 50 or tan of 30??
just a general expression
that's why I included the variable theta
u have to find both, and find the difference. the full distance he is from the ground,a nd the end distance when he reaches the 30 degrees.
btw do you know mystic
like are they ur younger siblings or sm
nah this whole convo is odd
didn't want to assume gender
aight mystic I will give you the scaffolding
why do yall get offended on tiny things man
what?
the structure to solve this problem
basically for the first scenario
i mean i think i got it
alana did a very clean diagram
yeah she did a great job!
pls
explain to me
i also wanna see your perspective
so when you drop with a angle of elevation of 30 degrees
you drop tan(30) = x/100; x = 100 tan(30) meters
you can use the same logic with the other scenario
sine OR tan??
and just substract those two values!
tan my bad
we need to find the difference of both values??
mhm
mhm
thx
thank you @lean otter for helping in the process
I was really joking about the spamming messages
the distance is negative
mhm
howw
you subtracted the wrong ones lol
nah im telling you before subtracting
one of the valyues is -27.16
what did you plug in
but yeah mystic is doing well
idk why he thinks you my sis lol
^ and this
you guys just seem close anyway
what did you get when you change it to degrees

its cuz im being so nice 🥰
like the caring older sister none yall losers ever had
I had a loving sister who played me tswift
when I was a kid and kept me fed
she's married now 😦
the answer is 61.47
lolll
YES
oh my god guys
WAY TO GET ITTTT
you two are geniuses

its CORRECT
🥳
do u understand it
sure buddy
