okay, are you asking about a specific school of thought within christianity? Because there are many solutions to the problem of evil and christianity is not agreed on which is "best"

cunning juniper
#

What's the point of talking about anything if you cannot challenge anyone beliefs on anything? @true zinc

it's a very big religion. the beliefs within christianity have extraordinary variance

lmao ok

so what this demonstrates is that you don't know diddly shit about christianity and perhaps your "challenging of beliefs" here is in fact just your regular old run-of-the-mill "christianity is dumb and christians are dumb" atheism

burnt ledge
#

How could a religion with billions of followers across thousands of years and hundreds of countries have several answers to such a broad question as "why is there evil"

slate turret

There is a certain cultural default that people fall into for religion and politics based off the their exposures

i am quite composed - i am pointing out that you seem to claim to want a discussion about theology but thus far everything you have said points to the very obvious conclusion that you don't know the first thing about christianity

# cunning juniper Okay, what are you based of?

We obviously believe we’re congruent with scripture but Christ came and founded a community, a family united in faith, sacraments and love. In time this community wrote the New Testament, received those writings and interprets them as a community. We’re primarily based on the Apostles

But Catholics are doing something different than reading scripture with a fine tooth comb and then trying to reconstruct what we read like many modern paradigms

The church wrote the bible and determined the canon, and the church gets its authority from apostolic succession

Consider that

“1. if God exists, i would believe he exists. 2. i do not believe that God exists. 3. Thus God does not exist.”

is rather spurious, especially since premise 1 is false for every existing object you aren’t personally aware of

you thus need some argument for premise 1, such as a divine hiddenness argument

but yeh with fascism it was like; rapid industrialisation massively changed the wways in which work, capital, and the class structure all functioned. Capital suddenly started flowing upwards in ways that it never quite had before but also suddenly all of the workers were living in very close proximity to one another and this turned them from just individual workers per se but more into a genuine, large, political force. Combine this with the uprisings all across europe in the mid 1800s and you had the old monarchic/conservatist order up in a massive panic.

Meanwhile, the liberals (do not read this as being related whatsoever to the american word "liberal", I'm talking actual classical liberalism) were stuck in the middle of these two groups and sometimes backed workers reformist kinda movements but also sided with the conservative factions when revolution started looking like a genuine threat.

It is from this fuckin mess that fascism emerges: as a reactionary movement which sought to combine nationalism and populism with - perhaps kinda most importantly and most overlooked - a common foundational "myth" for the "nation". It promised to stop the violence in the streets from revolutions and stuff and just do away with this whole democracy business because it provided a vision for rebuilding The Nation according to its perfect shape.

THEN. world war one happened. all of this tension that had been building fucking exploded. millions of people were thrown into fuckin industrialised warfare on a scale and of a sort whose horrors the modern mind cannot even begin to fathom. all the economies were fuckin wrecked, empires colllapsed, and a whole generation of men came back from the war with three important things: (1) a LOT of trauma (2) a LOT of anger and (3) weapons and the ability to use em. In germany, the treaty of versaille was viewed (quite fairly) as being absolutely fucking outrageous in terms of reparations and all that; OTOH, Italy, despite being on the winning side did not get any of what it expected to get from its participation in the war and this was viewed with similar distain. Inflation and unemployment and bolshevik/communist uprisings and street violence and all of this made the liberal democratic order look weak and entirely ineffectual at doing the one thing that liberals claimed it would do. Importantly, in both instances (and in many other countries - fascist movements were poppin off EVERYWHERE), it was a matter of people feeling that they had been wronged by the powers that be. Anyway fascism is a fascinating* thing to study especially since so much of it just, like, isn't what you'd expect. For example, it isn't really until Hitler becomes a big player that racism and race science became a part of fascist ideology at all. The italian fascists didn't really give a shit about it until a while later when they adopted explicit nazi-adjacent racist ideas.

-# * surpisingly, despite fascism and fascinate looking extremely similar not only in english but ALSO in the latin terms whence they originate (fascis and fascinum, respectively), there is no known etymological link between the words. also a fascinum was a lil amulet shaped like a penis that you could wear around your neck to ward off witches**
-# ** suprisingly, it is not actually known if wearing a fascinum actually wards off witches or not.

For Germany the war ended in just, like, the worst possible way it could've ended. For starters, it was an armistice - this is very important, because the German people did not feel that they had been conquered. Then there's the fact that the armistice was signed by the kinda hastily thrown together liberal democratic government after the old imperial German system collapsed which made it extremely easy for anyone to blame the "parliamentarians" (I forget the correct term here) for, well, quite famously "stabbing the German people in the back".

Another thing was that it was just humiliating for any nation, but Germany was especially nationalistic already having only just actually formed as a nation in the first place so stuff like being forced to give away all of their overseas possessions was seen as just an ENORMOUS embarrassment.

All of this kinda poisoned the Wiemar republic the moment it was born, and the harshness of the reparations meant that the government didn't really have any kind of economic means to actually make lives of the German people any better - indeed, the republican government did some extraordinarily stupid shit like printing loads of money to devalue the currency on purpose to protest the reparations but obviously this caused inflation to go to the fuckin moon within Germany and all of this just fed into this core foundational myth that I alluded to earlier wherein the German people were betrayed. Then you get a guy with an outstanding ability to get a crowd into an uproarious righteous frenzy telling everyone it was the Jews and the Bolsheviks (who obviously were also controlled by the Jews) and the Liberals (Huh weird they're also Jews too) and the industrialist class (you get the idea). That guy is Hitler and he had a perfectly shaped solution to the most important problem that was plaguing the German zeitgeist. Didn't help that the conservatives thought they could control Hitler like they did with Mussolini (which didn't fuckin work like srsly how did they fall for it a second time) and also Von Hindenburg being the president (a) not giving a shit about politics at all he didn't have time for that he just wanted the kaiser back combined with (b) him going fuckin senile and yeah they kinda just... # teal lion I don’t want to rule such worldviews out, but I’m trying to figure out what one ...

I think worldviews are understandable, but not trivially explainable. That’s because they tend to “live” at a more “fundamental” level in your brain than verbal. So you can think you’re explaining your worldview, but instead inferring some sort of special rule from your intuitions that does not fit what your brain is actually running.

The metaphor I have in mind is the following: imagine a laptop with an “outsider module” that just looks at the computer’s output from the outside. You can ask it to give you a description of what the computer is doing based on its outputs, but it won’t necessarily match what the computer is actually doing under the hood, and their observations need not match what the computer would do in other situations.

(And if I’m being unclear, that only proves my point! 😂)

halcyon aurora

I literally have no concept of the perception here, others do I believe

glossy marlin
halcyon aurora
magic python
#

I wouldn't say i have trauma, no.

halcyon aurora
#

right, so let's not beat around the bush, let's just reckon a bit I guess

#

It's not trauma but there is a visual thing that's decidely not real, that Car believes is not real, and is something that is disturbing to Car and cannot always be stopped. That's all that we need to state today. But we keep having the same thread trying to figure that out everytime, at least I'm caught up now and can synthesize this better.

magic python
#

I mean the issue is I can't tell if it isn't real when it happens.

halcyon aurora
#

ok so you actually do have a temporary delusion then (I'm sorry I silenced that, it feels very vivid and real in the moment)

glossy marlin
#

-# delusions, hallucinations, something like that

halcyon aurora
#

actually the whole "it's real for a minute or two" is helpful

magic python
#

Or I guess I can tell it's not real in the sense the spot I am in I physically can't be (places I've never seen outside of the visions), but it feels real, feels nothing like how normally visualizing things myself used to feel, it feels like I am also there at the same time as being wherever I actually am

#

Back when it happened on consecutive days, when it would happen I sometimes "saw" both that and my real vision when I had my eyes opened, glad now that keeping my eyes open stops the visuals almost entirely

#

Except for the weird instances with sensation

halcyon aurora
#

That's very hard for me to perceive but that makes sense. Like it's literally like Split Fiction but it's your visual perception

glossy marlin
#

so it´s a hallucination but not as strong as the usual stimuli?

halcyon aurora
#

I'm not naming this, I'm asking questions

halcyon aurora
magic python
#

It's most often like a pressure, except for the one time it felt like an actually hand gripping me, but the pressure never feels "proper" in the sense that someone actually doing that would cause the same feeling, it's softer, less aggressive than the visions tend to show, and kinda just there, not doing anything, I never even realize when they stop fully

halcyon aurora

halcyon aurora
glossy marlin
magic python

It was mentioned the medical system calls plurality schizophrenia in some cases.

halcyon aurora
#

Plurality is not schizophrenia

#

Apparently plurality if you will is a "diagnosis" to many though

magic python
glossy marlin
magic python
halcyon aurora
#

true, true

#

the medical system is hard to work with, especially with psychiatry. Other conditions are more reasonable, just depends which system and all

#

That's another debate however

glossy marlin
# halcyon aurora Apparently plurality if you will is a "diagnosis" to many though

there are various somehow related diagnoses. if the plurality itself is disordered, there´s stuff like DID, OSDD-1a, OSDD-1b, etc., it can stem from various other problems including PTSD and schizophrenia.
plurality itself isn´t a diagnosis and doesn´t always need one. plurality just kind of is. it´s a lot of things, in a lot of people, with different relationships to it.
-# but there are of course the few that will only accept plurality if it´s a diagnosis. same as for trans people. you´ll only be accepted as a person or peer if you´re not just a freak, but a certified weirdo

magic python
#

I mean the fact people are trying to "prove DID is fake" using actual studies says enough i need to know about how hostile they are to that

#

Oh yeah the traumagenic vs endogenic debate

I find it interesting people think this isn't real

glossy marlin
halcyon aurora
#

THAT'S crazy town, like that's so rrpressive

it's really real yk?

magic python

It's something about how supposedly certain symptoms manifest more in places where that's how plurality is represented in media as being

#

tfw it can manifest far before media exposure

magic python
magic python
#

Or so I've heard at least

#

Then again, nowadays people are exposed to media far younger...

#

Idk I won't deny someone because I've heard even FDIS plurality or whatever can be horrible still, if someone says they experience it I won't deny it, not my place

#

I mean even of they were entirely faking everything, no struggles, it isn't my place to point that out.

glossy marlin
magic python
glossy marlin
magic python

It's actually related to a form of abuse iirc, fictitious disorder imposed on others

#

Basically forcing a disorder onto someone else for attention if I'm remembering the basics of it

ionic wraith
glossy marlin
glossy marlin
#

yeah...

magic python
#

this is also different from genuinely thinking someone has a disorder and trying to get them treatment, in this case you often do things to make the other person present symptoms of the disorder, which uh often is very abusive

#

Or at least that's how most famous cases happened iirc

glossy marlin
#

well, that´s some other famous cases

The recent outbreak has no obvious mutations, it's just the special strain, and there's been like 10 cases out of 150 ish people on board this ship.

#

It spreads through rats, and this strain mildly spreads occasionally through people ... the guy who brought it to the ship somehow transmitted it to his wife and the doctor, and those three are the only deaths, the rest got treated. In short, it's not a global risk, very low chances for a small group to have a mutation.

To be fair, this is more taken as a question of how much you like the president, as I don't think many Democrats actually think an 8 year old boy could take him.

I could take him. My wife is 5'3", and I'm not entirely sure she could take him just based on the difference in reach, but she does work out, so I'd give her the edge. But an 8 year old? That's just silly.

Such systems of numbers do exist, and we use them in our computers for certain tasks, such as encryption and data redundancy.

devout cliff
# red sleet Hi guys, im doing an undergrad in maths, i love it. I love the rigor i love ever...

Try to stack up some applied math or statistics electives, do projects/internships and network. Even if you don’t go the quant route there’s still a lot of analyst positions in business/finance. With stats/CS you can go the data route. Pretty much every degree now requires a lot of learning outside of your program, projects, internships and networking to break in and nothings guaranteed

When you go to an interview you’re essentially giving a sales pitch, you’ll have to put some thought into how you can craft a narrative on why your knowledge brings value and increased profit to their organization

#

Quant isn’t really a serious route for many, it’s like mechanical engineers wanting to work on a formula 1 team. Sure it happens but it’s probably similar success rates

my bad but i tried to hold back, yk ima transform to serious now

halcyon aurora
#

Ok, and you think that these rights are not denied to Trans people (the first part merely defined that?) There are also later rights defined, like social and economic rights broadly.

magic python
#

Okay I'll list the main ones by the article number in the Declaration

  1. (This discrimination is based on them being trans, violating this one)
3*. (Technically broken by hate crimes, but only asterisk due to that being a technicality and not well known to be done by institutions)
  2. (Transgender people were and still are ||trafficked|| heavily, though the most major case being ||Jeffery Epstien|| (tw: abuse+SA))
  3. (Basically the same as 4, but degrading punishment is also sort of normalized in some places, so...)
  4. (Do I even need to explain how trans people both now and historically in many places weren't recognized as people..?)
  5. (Transgender people don't get equal help with things violating 4 and at least anecdotally are discriminated against with protection)
9*. (ICE supposedly has been taking away transgender individuals visas. Plus the many stories of discriminatory arrest. Though it gets an asterisk because I cannot provide sources right now.)
  6. (Same as gay people both now and in the past, marriage is not exactly the easiest... plus, forced marriage is probably a thing based on 4.)
  7. (Look up the definition of transphobia)
  8. (Oh look! Rebranded 18)
23*. (Gender discrimination in the workforce exists, and minorities are discriminated against as well, so one can infer transgender being a minority they get discrimination here)
25*. (If we count mental health as well-being, transgender people often get denied or put through year long processes trying to "force them to be cis again" and this is not good mentally, but well-being is ambiguous, so not exactly 100% breaking this)
26*. (Last time I heard, minorities still get discrimination in education in some places, though I don't know for sure if trans people do, I can only assume this one)
#

27*. (Transgender people get hate despite the countless studies showing how safe it is, how little it is regretted, and so on, but tend to get "pushed out" from what I know, though this may not directly violate this)
30*. (Government's denying trans rights, though I guess they don't twist these rights to do it)

#

These are all the ones I know of being broken.

#

There are some I can't parse properly wo they may also be broken just without my knowledge

#
  1. Does not seem to be broken
halcyon aurora
#

nvm I just realized Jebson is new

magic python
#

Asterisks mean broken technically but you could reasonably argue it isn't broken

halcyon aurora
#

I didn't read all your arguments Car, but at a minimum being Trans is an expression, and freedom of expression should be allowed as a right. So that would be somewhere in 18-22

magic python
#
  1. Can be argued to happen with many people, but it's still a violation of the trans persons rights, and it also is due to fetishizing trans people as well

magic python

18 and 19 are about freedom of expression, that's why I just say "look up transphobia"

halcyon aurora
magic python

17 is about property....

#

It also added spaces between the one and the 6/7 so like

magic python
#

To be fair I mainly hear Americans being transphobic due to the content I consume, and the occasional less vocal transphobe from somewhere else, so it's just because I hear more from Americans so I get to hear the more stupid arguments

#

As there are only so many arguments transphobes can say before going to the 100% wrong from a single search arguments

#

(Now, saying trans rights aren't being taken away can also just be a lack of understanding and not blatant transphobiak but it is also something transphobes use, rather stupidly at that.)

#

I mean if you can legitimately tell me my example for 4. Isn't slavery I'll give it to you

#

Humans have the right to not be slaves, so...

#

4 is basically the main one there outside of 18 and 19 that are blatant (and 2, but 2 is based on the others being stripped because the person was trans)

#

That's a lot more violations than I thought though...

#

Didn't even know some of these were rights

#

||on the island|| trans people were also explicitly hurt. (Tw abuse)

#

Plus, just because other people get rights taken away more, doesn't mean trans people don't

Not that it isn't there

in absolute terms, cis women probably deal with more problems.
in relative terms, trans people have it about a dozen times worse with (child) (sexual) abuse, assault, harrassment, trafficking, etc. afaik

Trans people and "forcetransition" i believe are explicitly mentioned in ||the epstien files||, isn't it a shock many really big and famous transphobes are in said documents as well? (Tw: CSA)

Like Trump and JK Rowling

(Also the whole video linking a majority of transphobia to around 60 people)

At least modern transphobia

Yay... life is so safe as a trans person globally...

# glossy marlin in absolute terms, cis women probably deal with more problems. in relative terms...

as for committing crimes?
we put up with a LOT.
cishet white guys were involved in at least three thousand mass shootings in the US alone, in 2025 alone.
trans people? like two or three. not thousand, three. and we´re about a percent of the population, maybe more. our rates are a dozen times lower.
the same applies to abuse, SA, CA, CSA, etc.
we earn almost nothing if we have a job, so we would have to steal more. I´ve not heard about us stealing more.
our existence is classified as sexual offense or whatever in some places. when we can´t get money in other ways, some turn to working in that sector. that´s the one thing I know we do more. we´re criticized for it more.

anyways, what´s the "other side"

when in doubt, just ask no?

Yeah no the problem is that a whole bunch of the other side want trans people oppressed or forced to live as their assigned gender or just fuckin die

The thing is, it's not entirely impossible to pull it off. The Supreme court has managed to interpret the first amendment in such a way that there is certain speech that does not fall under free speech (even though the language is plain the in the constitution). So in my opinion, I think the Supreme court could pull some bull where they reinterpret the 22nd amendment in such a way where Trump can become the president again.
