Also lastly, if you want to make this approximation better, then clamp the value between -1 and 1 with a min max. (programmer terms ew I know, but were dealing with floor, mod, etc already).

But if someone does want to get into the romantic world, then there a few things that can be done to at least decrease the chances of things going badly, and imo waiting a bit to have kids is one. A lot of people eg divorce because it turns out they can get along as friends, feel the romantic connection, but don't get along as roommates

And it's probably good to not have kids, which will complicate the decision to divorce, until after that emotional honeymoon fades and you're closer to seeing "the ordinary reality" of your marriage. If you can navigate that situation well and the marriage is strong, it's safer to look at kids

If things fall apart after that then... Yeah you know what life is bad to you sometimes and this is one of those times
