I've never understood any solution and even proofs until I actually try my own method to solve and suppose their solution never existed. Most things worked that way for me. Even when I put the proof of the pythagorean theorem in front of my eyes, I still can't fully grasp the connection between the equation and the image. Beyond the question of "How did the person come up with this think?", just how I started to understand the derivative of sine when I proved it myself.The squeeze method is correct, but my brain didn't produce this method on its own so I don't have a good grasp of it or not be able to use this method effectively
