It makes me happy
And that's enough for me

geometry dash 🗣️
What role do I need to be able to post pictures here
I am very trustworthy
Ok now that I sent this this sounds extremely untrustworthy
good q
I'm not sure but I think it's any coloured role
so the easiest one to get would be the active role, there's ofc the very active role too
if you get that last one you'd be terminally online here lol
don't end up like us pls
otherwise anyone can post in #chill
we just had a lot of trolls posting in the main two channels so that's why the rule was implemented
Oke thanks I'll try being more active then lol
be careful what you wish for though
good luck with that ig
I'm terminally online on other servers I might as well be on here
gg
hope you learn some maths while you're at it then
That would be great
hello Kepe
my definition of terminally online is me alone
Hi higher!
everyone else is not terminally online when compared to me
is the linear algebra linear algebraing?
of course

What about you, what courses are you taking now?
none, I'm on actual break
Ah
learning point set
I will take point set after my Abitur
Is that actually a seperate course?
Abitur is scary
Not in Germany I think
Or could you also jump into AT right away and learn point set in the first 20 pages or so
It's in anal II
You could jump right away to AT
sounds good
the point set course here does AT for the last third or so
but you can probably get away with less
You don't need too much topology for AT
Or algebra for that matter
You also know AT?
All what u are doing is algebra
How did you have the time to learn all these
how much point set do I need for DG though
I don't do anything else
I have no life
Depends on ur requirements
For how long have you been doing this?
What do u want to do with DG eventually
I have no idea lmao
too far ahead of me for me to think
Do u happen to know analytic number theory?
I started on 1 January 19pm 2023
I need the exact minute please
Idk any number theory
Wait I can give you that
Then I have no life. Not you
Deltoid you're also a high schooler right?
Number theory seems cool as fuck but most books on it start out boring
I just want to jump to the fun stuff
I mean that's the same deal with something cool like algebraic geometry
Deltoid finished his freshman year
Ah
True tbh
but he was doing AnaNT in hs too
But like

Alggeo is less so
Yeah Deltoid is the ANT guy
Because you need algebra so you're forced to learn it regardless of what you want
who is the other ANT person
Same with number theory
I don't know who does AlgNT here, now that I think about it
I need to check #advanced-number-theory more ig
What but he has postgrad as a role
door-to-door mormons but it's just deltoid with a copy of Apostol instead of a bible
You are forced to learn modular arithmetic, fermat theorems, Euler shenanigans etc
Yeah one can still get it
I count that as algebra
But yeah, he isn't a high schooler
The majority of people do algNT. I'm more of an outcast
some high schoolers have the postgrad role
There is CV who does AnalNT
I see. that makes sense I guess
illuminator comes to mind
Sadly he left
Also Andrei
illum is on other servers still
Doing research while in high school
Damn I have no idea who all these people are
Y'all need a lore channel
Yeah it's a thing because algNT is more common to be taught in uni than analNT (that's not the case in my uni at all they teach neither)
My main server has one
is that so?
Yea
we have a course for both here, but I don't know which one gets more attention
they're offered in alternating years iirc
he's still around
I saw him 2 days ago
could be, yeah
That was when I tried learning vector calculus with absolutely no knowledge of actual calculus and failed miserably
When I finally finished I googled "what comes after vector calculus" and some guy on quora said differential geometry
💀
I tried learning that and realized I should probably do analysis because differential geometry does NOT come after calculus
And that's how I got into math
morally correct though
Average stack exchange answer

Didn't you have some calculus at HS at that time?
Only derivatives at that time
And I also kinda knew what integrals were
Before that I watched random math videos on YouTube but I didn't know what actual math was like
@vernal token how did you get into math
@latent edge how did you get into math
I got interested in it at around 9th grade, then I started loving it
I should've started doing uni stuff earlier..
What made you finally decide you wanted to do a Frühstudium
I didn't know about it, my Schulleiter suggested it to me
What about you?
I used to talk to someone and she told me that a guy she knew did it in physics
So it though I should do it too
That was during the summer holidays last year right before the thing started
I actually handed in my CV thingy too late
I sent in my application really late because my school took very long to write the Empfehlungsschreiben, give me the permission and everything
I sent it in with Deutsche Post but apparently it didn't arrive and there were only two days left
My math teacher went to my school during the holidays to get me the Empfehlungsschreiben 💀
Luckily what I sent in was a copy so I had the original
I had to go there, on a Saturday
There was only someone from the Prüfungsausschuss
But he took it
Woah
Not really, around 30km from it
I don't know anyone from our course
Because Florian was really active in the beginning but idk where he is now
Pretty weird
Yeah, he also used to write his stuff up in LaTeX
Well probably he is doing schriftliches Abitur now
So he doesn't have time
Makes sense ig
What are your mündliche Prüfungen in
What are your mündliche Prüfungen in
German and Ethik
What are your mündliche Prüfungen in
Wby?
Same 💀🤯
German because I have no choice and Ethik because I can just yap
Exactly
Do you care about your other subjects, other than maths and physics?
I don't really
I don't study for school
It doesn't matter
There is no NC
Like my grades are still pretty good but in the end it doesn't matter
Yeah I'm thinking the same but who knows, maybe for some more prestigious unis like Bonn there will be one?
At least for the one I want to go to there isn't
I say this but I still feel shit when I actually do have a bad grade
I'd feel very bad if I didn't have a good grade in maths or physics, but I really don't care about all the other subjects
Well I mean we get a 15€ book voucher if we do good in school so ig there is one advantage
We don't
If you get this Preis der deutschen Mathematikervereinigung you get some book
But that'll be first-semester stuff

Apparently other schools give you even more
Also you get to be member of the deutsche Mathematikervereinigung for one year
But idk why that's good
(afterwards you have to pay
)
That would've been my next question
I don't go outside so I don't think being a member of a Mathematikvereinigung would benefit me in any way lol
I don't either
Do you do any competition math?
Not really
I did a competition a month ago
But that was the only one I ever did
I don't either but my school needed someone to go to the Mathe-Cup
Because my teacher asked me to
So of course, thinking competition math = math they sent me
Hehe that's what I always say
You have to know a bunch of random identities for compmath
We need teams of 4, now I'm in a team of two with another guy
I did some olympiad exercises for the entrance exam to our university
German olympiads were really helpful
Which ones do you mean?
And also Oxford MAT admissions tests
Trig identities mostly
Ah
I studied for a whole month for the admissions test and still only got 17/24 in the end
That one dumb problem
That drawing problem
You know which one I mean?
The one with the square?
Something with fitting something into a square
Yeah
There was a girl in front of me who cut something out and reconstructed it
Uh, I don't remember anymore, I think no
Did you?
I think I thought it was impossible to fit it in
But it was possible
Same
But yeah, after all comp math is very different from real math so really doing it isn't a very good time investment I think
Maybe it helps with problem-solving though but you get that when doing "real" math problems too
Yeah exactly
And real math actually helps you get used to new concepts
Olympiad math is always the same
(this is my excuse for being bad at olympiads)
I still have to finish my physics GFS, I will do that on the last school day before the Ausflugstag
It's 42 slides currently
💀
Whar
Mine was 13
But it was VERY dense
My math one was 30 I think
How long is that going to take to present 💀
I'll probably get it done in 90 minutes
I only do GFS in subjects I'm good in. That way I don't have to learn anything new
I do one in the subjects I'm not so good in but also not completely shit; otherwise I'll have no motivation of doing it
physics is an exception, I have 15 points but still do one in it
I ended my integrals presentation with "Riemann integrals are shit btw. Lebesgue better" 💀
Wait I still have my Ausarbeitung I can send it to you
Sure
In dms though I don't want to doxx myself
yeah
what's the utility of functional equations
Math olympiads
does algebra include ring theory
algebra + analysis > max{algebra, analysis}

i should learn both?
Analgebralysis
imo, yes, if it's basic undergrad algebra and analysis
i thought algebra was taught only in middle school and thats it
i thought we learn cal in college
I'm talking about basic abstract algebra
why do they have to come up with a bunch of math branches like this
everything is hard if you haven't learned it
i believe it

don't believe everything you see on the internet...
what Zan said is correct
everything is hard when you've never seen it before
Because they wanted to sell more books
i think believe it is easy then it will be
oh
no the idea was developed a long time ago
some confidence is good!
yeah
and my bf is a physicist too
so he can help me
do u guys have a roadmap for imo
from easy to hard
for IMO, the competition?
yeah
no, unfortunately
I don't do any competitive math
based
what's the free resouces to train
competitive math is quite different from much of math
bro it's higher level math man
for the superior
for the talented
what?
There's also a structure called an algebra. Mathematicians really don't like using new words
for the divinely blessed
but is it higher!
level math?
higher!
MAT Oxford entrance exams are pretty useful
higher!
ok
competition math is just not for me
ok any other resources
I don't find it really interesting
Mind your decisions on YouTube
That's the name
i want a hardcore book
Same
I don't have any of those sorry
same, I did it a lot when I was in school but it was not really interesting to me
youtube is the hotbed of deception and consolation
depending on what you're looking for, the AoPS books might be good
just say that u dont wanna share it to people
maybe that's your secret sauce
to math superiority
I did absolutely zero competition math or normal math in hs
oh, how I wish I got in faster
help the unfortunate
that's sooner than me
I did it once to practice for my university's entrance exam
i will hook u up with my talented romantic physicist
same buddy, same
You don't know how real you are for this
wdym
I mean that they are so real for this
:saul:

hey guys i wonder if we can achieve perfect randomness
that would catalyze for a perfect security machine innit
Classical computers follow finite instructions so no; Quantum computers yes
bazinga
Bazinga
Also if you can achieve perfect randomness on a quantum computer shouldn't you be able to on a classical as well since you can simulate a quantum computer on a classical (albeit at a loss of speed)?
O _ O
Aren't there uncomputable sequences
Which can be output by a quantum computer
No, quantum and classical computers can compute exactly the same sets
Computation is not random generation tho?
I'm unsure what framework people use to talk about random generation here tbh
Wdym did you switch majors?
Can you have a quantum program that randomly spits out an infinite sequence of 0s and 1s
If so then the infinite sequence is uncomputable with probability 1 right
So there are a bunch of randomness hierarchies in computability theory which depend on asymptotic initial segment Kolmogorov complexity of an infinite binary string (there is a constant c so that the Kolmogorov complexity of all initial segments is less than c away from the maximum Kolmogorov complexity), idk if you can use a bounded state quantum computer to achieve randomness in this sense
I was more into physics and computer science when I graduated from school and only saw math as a tool (not really interested in it as a subject in itself). I did a math major only because of a scholarship (that's specific to math) and end up loving it after the first year of my studies.

nono
I myself was much more into physics a year ago than now, but I took a risk by doing a bunch of math I thought I might as well try out
and I ended up liking math a lot
lol
I've never been too much into CSy stuff though
I got into math pretty early but I wouldn't count it as math because it was mostly popsci bullshit
And I've never really gotten into CS but I tried out Java once
my initial assumption would be that I would end up disliking math or finding it too challenging lol
and then return to physics
That's why I usually say I only got into math 1.5 years ago
Based
Applications are only good if they're to math

morning smay
It's literally 10pm
so true, and since your experiences are universal, it must be that time for me too
Exactly
Glad you understand
well, it still isn't the morning morning for you
but yes
,ti smayday
LMAO
The current time for smayday is 04:16 PM (EDT) on Sun, 14/07/2024, the same as higher___!

what kind of physics do you like?
GR, classical mechanics
geometry related stuff lmao
this is why my main mathematical interests lie in DG lol
these were my roots
same, same
have you done some classical mechanics?
I read Goldstein for classical mechanics
is it true that the first derivative of an injective function will never be negative? assuming my function goes upwards
I want to see if I understood the concepts properly
Yeah if the derivative changes its sign then it's not injective
but if the function converges even a little then that will show as negative in its second derivative no?
or rather than converge, just slows down for a moment
The second derivative shows you how much a function curves
But I don't think you can say anything about injectivity from that
u do NOT need to read big chonky grad mech books
L&L isn't chonky though
it's like
200 pages
the only thing that they offer is a depth in technicality
hi blo

Is there anything that you can measure that is not some amount(s) of: Angle, Electric Charge, Length, Mass, Probability, Temperature, Time
Force
are you restricting this to a physics context?
because what you've described are what the SI units measure, their purpose being the building block of other measurement
Money
good example
human happiness
my hopes and dreams
Population is unitless, as are angles, therefore we measure population in radians.
what do we measure my hopes and dreams in?
Whatever you want!

hello

hello
Hello
excuse me
i have a boyfriend
stop trying to grab my attention
omg
Me too!
Me too!
which kind of geometry is the non euclidian one
i thought it was the only type of geometry
It’s called ‘non Euclidean geometry’
“non-euclidean geometry” is typically not used to refer to a geometry, but a type of geometry, of which there are multiple
whatever the opposite of that is
Spherical geometry
elliptic geometry?
mhm
Oh
elliptic and spherical are not quite the same, but i’ve never come across an instance where i’ve had to consider the elliptic kind
so i just think of the non-euclidean geometries as hyperbolic or spherical
I see
apparently the real projective plane is elliptic
which makes sense, it's a sphere with antipodal points identified
is it worth investing time in non euclidian geo in the sense that does it come up often or?
elliptic geometry seems a bit specific
as in PR2 ?
yeah
Are you working with those stuff?
but i know PC has spherical geometry
I used to do IOAA so I had to study spherical geometry
what’s ioaa
depends on what you’re doing / is interested in
hi
or, it’s certainly possible to study geometry in its own right, though that is rather rare nowadays
hi welcome to the best channel
nice to meet u
im looking forward to find friends who'll help me with maths

I’d say no, unless you either (a) are intrinsically interested in it or (b) need it for some specific thing you’re studying (e.g. algebraic geometry). In the latter case, it’ll probably be introduced in whatever you’re reading for that subject
I'd say yes if there is way there is will
There seems to be an 1000 - 1500 years oversight at finding the basic geometrical design of telescopes
I tried to post to /r/math but the reddit I can access became a very blocked place lately
"Magnifying lenses are known since antiquity. The first practical telescope seems to have been invented, and the conceptual ideea discovered, in late renaissance, some years before the formalization of the law of refraction, and the development of geometrical optics mathematical area."
"It feels like missing for a very long time something relatively obvious if focusing with a scientific or engineering approach on lenses and image magnification subject. Eery!"
Hello. Has anyone done any of the problems from the mathematical reflection journal? Here is the link of the problems: https://www.awesomemath.org/wp-pdf-files/math-reflections/mr-2024-03/mr_3_2024_problems_2.pdf. I would really appreciate if one of you guys have solved or could solve one of the problems for me.
There is some relative feel in some high end technology border research contexts of the math person being more of a relative artist of pretty formulas for kids, ala KFG Gauss kid profile looks. KFG has a suspicious rhyme with the ZFC foundations.
The fishy funny looks of the mathematician of a more loose personality type in the high end technological development team, while mathematics is a preached rigor model.
Like mathematics relatively loose thing, mind high end high stakes engineering border research for upmost scientific model development rigurosity.
They also make the fine complex technological border tools for scientists to discover with.
WHAT IS BRO SAYING
who is bro?
mathematics today seems to still have some loose foundational problem noticed since the Hilbert's program and Godel's incompleteness
the problem also seems to confirm while trying to prove automatically with computers, where a different set of axiomatic foundations seem to work better than ZFC
ZFC seems to be preferred for friendliness to the historical mathematics and its kind of artistic sides or faces
What do you want
here and in the reddit link I want to discuss this and related matters
what foundational problems

I mean, the question of whether 0.9999....=1 is still not settled

properly relating to Godel's incompleteness problem area for highest reliability complex proofs
Wiles's proof of Fermat's last theorem (also notice the names poetry, "we les", "fermer - last") is suspicious of higher risk of rigorously connecting to trusted axiomatic foundations in a very complex long proof

does nature respect the parallel postulate? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_postulate
wile's proof seems harder to trust, maybe it could be machine checked like compiling a computer program, and in computer math check's area I've noticed without digging in that ZFC is practically problematic and they prefer a different axiomatic base
you have a most curious mix of some reasonable insight and at the same time highly cranky language and topics
go on go on what do you know about ZFC being "practically problematic" and "a different axiomatic base"

I suspect English isn't their native language and they have difficulty putting their point across because of that
hmm

pondering, imagining in mustache poetry context frame the resonances of "gauss bell", not obvious mentions which was the whole contributing team to the Gauss brand, there seems to be a history of even mafia like games
Gauss looks too crypto cool profile, very suspicious
a perplexing angle frame on the math person as relatively superficial person
what gives?
yes
great so listen this out...
amount 200
50 = bet 1 + specefic
50 - bet 2 + specefic
amount 100
-50
100+
amount 200
more like gambeling kinda thing...
so that "specefic"
can be this for example
chosen player 1 outcome = twice of input.
or if
player 2 is chossen then outcome can be 3 times of they input.
so...
is there a math possible way to do this ??
yes
im programer.... btw.
so, just to be sure i understand what you mean
okay
you want to randomly choose player 1 or player 2, right?
yes
okay
then you want the program to determine what to do depending on which player is chosen?
yes
goal is to get more then puten in !
sure.
for example its 200
i want to get 300
or higher
or higher then 200
but more then 220
if possible.....
well kinda yes.
i guess its more like input.
what do the 50s represent?
okay
that helps a log
lot
thanks
deep calculation on loose relatively too superficial base
or very long calculation, it is checked and overchecked accurate, but how about the nuanced attention to the fundamentals base
intresting....
higher!
im waiting. (:
alrighty
sure
besides the geometrical optics oversight, the more obvious mathematical one, the parallels postulate took millennia to sort out, while we were living on the surface of round Earth
what are we talking about here
seems a sin of math area at philosophical fundamentals
the weird funny contrast of shallow mathematicians
what...?
higher!
i have idea how to hack gambeling
and need a math stuff to hack it XD
cos maths more faster.
if you succeed, can you share some of it with me?

not saying 100%.
i mean its simple idea...

I think we're witnessing some kind of breakdown 😦
not my breakdown, I am pressing on some related mafia problems
under ungly pressure position
ugly
there is a breakdown in the air
⁉️
I am mostly ok with the wikipedia Gauss, worry of possibly more sinister things hidden
using the subject for related problems dizzy solution approaching
gauss seems very interesting to insist for some forms of corruption
the image contrasts ...
I was about to say "Gauss has been dead for a long time, he can't hurt you", but I suppose that's what they want us to think.
there is something hidden major behind some publishing brands
a problem of deception
and misleading assumptions
That is true
always has been
Disappointingly no, but my boyfriend's aunt does live at Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Straße in a German town
So I'm associated with the conspiracy

i want to hack they password itself !
guess it. very very fast. using math stuff.

can you elaborate on what you mean by that
how is your math level?
how did you try to improve?

what fishy games

Is this a language model?
for ga ga ga gauss chicks
Sadly I'm afraid it's a human
next they would defend the sin as a matter of political xenofobic race choice
next what are they really fighting for

Firemen
Adding 'shirtless' doesn't make them more effective at putting out fires, sadly.

Yes next time don't wait till end start preparations early and this time use max time for study
Also practice
Perfect makes practice
i think the textbook i have has some practice sections
better check that out
thanks!

help i just failed one of the most important test of my life, it was a scholrship test for the best schools in my area and would give extra ATAR if i passsed, but my dumbass failed and idk waht to do does anyone have any idea on what I should study for VCE
dude what shit are you on, going to a selective school doesn't guarantee you 'extra ATAR'
also are you in year 8 or something
anyways, it's all about the opportunities you use in your school
there's no guaranteed pathway to success, and you should define success on your own terms rather than blindly trusting what your parents have in mind for you
im on sum crack man
anyway I just felt a burning urge to correct you
you seem a bit lost and confused I guess
how did yk 🙏
experience
I'm in uni right now, well undergrad so like I'm definitely not old or anything
which uni
doxx
is that good idk
that's not a dox
well yeah profs are friendly, nice and close-knit
ok what are u gonna be?
UofAdelaide is ofc one of the group of 8 unis
Not that it matters too much
or planning
what would you do after graduating
how will you get food and shelter by studying math
ye
it's a miracle people get food and shelter in general
like just search up 'maths careers'
cold
Study skibidi theorem if you want to make money using math
What about Joe's theorem?
At what age do you guys think a wolf cut middle part is not suitable for a professional setting. Is there a certain point where long hair isn’t professional or does it not matter?
doesn't matter imo
plenty of older people also have that haircut, of course it's more with straight hair of course
just make sure your hair doesn't cover your eyes and you're fine
e.g you can style it like this
Aw hell nah
why nah ?
Thank you.
Personally, I don’t like the look of the way he styled it.
but like this is 100% acceptable
looks like his hairline is receding on the right side
just showing you lol
yeah it's definitely not a deliberate fashion choice I'd say
Honestly cause I’ve been thinking, although I’m in high school idk what hairstyles the way to go, I was thinking a low-mid taper middle part or a middle part wolf cut. But it’s hard to come to a decision.
I was just going to choose based off of what’s more mature
why are you choosing a haircut on what looks mature?
just go for what you suit
or just what you want
They both look good but I just opted for what’s more mature
why do you care about hair
You should not care about other people's opinion
that is the only path to achieve happiness and contentment
how do i remebr formuals
why do you want to remember them
for
maths
give example of formula you want to remember
Cacl formuals
Repetition
Exmaple?
Newton’s
method
trapezium rule
approximation
chain rule
product rule
like that stuff
@neat lintel
product rule easy
d(uv)=udv+vdu
Chain rule and product rule like things get into muscle memory after enough practice
ok
trapezium rule can be understood
why the need to memories it
ok
Maybe understanding why the formula are like that would make the need to memories it go away
ok
hello
haloo
yep

Pretty girl with tremulous eyes, if thou know the correct method of inversion, tell me, what is the number, which multiplied by three, and added to three quarters of the quotient, and divided by seven, and reduced by subtraction of a third part of the quotient, and then multipUed into itself, and having fifty-two subtracted from the product, and the square root of the remainder extracted, and eight added, and the sum divided by ten, yields two ?
pretty girl
Out of a swarm of bees, one-fifth part settled on a blossom of Cadamba; and one-third on a flower of Silindhri: three times the difference of those numbers flew to the bloom of a Cutaja. One bee, which remained, hovered and flew about in the air, allured at the same moment by the pleasing fragrance of a jasmin and pandanus. Tell me, charming woman, the number of bees.
oh this one is juicy…
Whilst making love a necklace broke. A row of pearls mislaid. One sixth fell to the floor. One fifth upon the bed. The young woman saved one third of them. One tenth were caught by her lover. If six pearls remained upon the string. How many pearls were there altogether?

$f(x) = x-\tan(x)\
\pi = \lim_{n\to\infty} f^n (x)$ for any $\frac{\pi}{2}<x<\frac{3\pi}{2}$.
neruguis
then tan(π) = 0
close to π/2
$f^n= \underbrace{f(f(f(...}_{\text{n times}}\
f(x)^n = (f(x))^n\
f^{(n)}(x)=\frac{d^n}{dx^n}f(x)$
neruguis
Then you have to apply many times
Oh
almost infinite
if you take x exactly like thst
sure
that’s why I said < and not <=
but 4.369≠π/2 or 3π/2
$f^n(4.369)=f^{n-1}(\pi/2)$
add bracket
grim reaper
yes now right
$f(4.369)=f^{-1}(\frac{\pi}{2})$
it becomes undefined
neruguis
$f(4.369)=f^{-1}\left(\frac{\pi}{2}\right)$
Kokichi
thats better
grim reaper
this is the qlequaiton
now take inverse function of f n-1 times to both sides
f(4.369) = pi/2
huh
no we have to find limit at n=infinity
4.36918237258
yeah
$f(x) = x-\tan(x)\
\pi = \lim_{n\to\infty} f^n (x)$ for any $1.95<x<4.38$.
neruguis
4 is approximately correct
