why can "pull" the root-locus plot more to the left

now the way you pick p and z depends on some design parameters, the idae is given some design parameters (the controller should respond this fast, the controller should achieve that steady state for this input, etc) you can pick some points in the complex plane that you want your RL plot to intersect, and then you pick p and z such that it does intersect that

and that's what I was trying to do

I kinda "pulled" the root-locus plot around them, as if they had their own gravitational field or something

so the difficult part of the problem is actually choosing p (pole) and z (zero) correctly to get the root locus to look how I want

which I clearly didn't do right

see how much it overshoots 180 degrees

then guesstimate a location for z, there's some heuristics for where to place it but at the end of the day it's purely an engineer's choice, there's no fixed or algorithmic way to select it

then you just solve for \angle p

It's heavily used for automation/automotive processes (as in automated, not cars)

Like think of a thermometer

The controller is what tells the thermometer what input it should send your AC system so it can reach the desired temperature you set

Hey there, pursuing a doctorate in psychology; loneliness induced by social anxiety is usually because your mind is bombarded with fearful thoughts concerning the scenarios or outcomes of situations or realities that have not happened.

It’s the fact of unpredictability that causes the anxiety, perhaps to cope either:
1.) Learn to appreciate loneliness as solitude (play chess, sudoku , read or listen to lofi).
