How do I have fun with linear algebra
I am looking for this rare thing called applications of mathematics
Depends on what is unfun with linalg for you
how do I have fun with linear algebra
I find it boring because of it's applications
there are plenty of applications of linear algebra
People find it interesting because of applications ...and you're saying opposite
diff ppl can have diff interests i hope you're not finding this out js now
linalg has a lot of theory if you just look at it that way
like
a lot
of theory
I like the theory lol, it was mostly sarcastic
learn it without applications
go read FIS/Axler
Let me know those applications,
I wanna actually use linear algebra so I don't forget everything I've read for the 4th time
within mathematics or outside of it
linear systems obviously have loads of uses
outside
i mean theres stats more broadly
sure i guess
linear regressions happen to use linear algebra
Graphics
That sounds like normal, even many mathematicians manage to forget them over and over
Has to have linear algebra textbook by side
inverse of what? Where
Abstract algebra but I’m unsure what level they’re asking it from
Like in what context
do you know about the additive and multiplicative identities
say in R
Like for 10th grade
So an additive identity in any set X is just that element for which adding any element x produces x itself. We denote this by 0 usually, so x+0=0+x=x given element x of X
0 has this property that if you add anything to it you get that back so 0 is the addictive identity of integers for example
Like it just gives the same value but different signs
this also works if you are working with real numbers as your set
what
this has nothing to do with signs
What !??
you are confusing identity with inverse
yeah like what real number has the property that if you add any other real number (say x) to it you get the same number x back
Can u give example
So always 0 is the identity
Id say we denote the additive identity by 0 normally but yes 0 is the identity if your set is reals, integers
Now, onto multiplicative idemtity
Ok
what should be that for real numbers?
same motivation as additive identity but for * instead of +
Tqs I got it
Like multiply with 0 ?
Multiply by 1
yea
so 1 is the multiplicative identity
So for any number x its additive inverse is that number such that adding it to x produces the additive identity
For any x, its additive inverse should be the numver y, such that x+y=0
what is the additive inverse of 5?
0
does 5+0 produce 0?
-5
What number do you need to add to 5 to get 0
Yeah
So for any x that would be -x
This is the one where the value remains same but sign changes yada yada whatever you said earlier
what should the multiplicative inverse of 5 be?
What's the difference between additive identify and additive inverse
what do you think is the difference
there is one identity that works for all
0
every number has its own inverse
7 has -7
0
0
no?
Idk
0.2
Yeah
1/5
So you learned that additive inverse just means put a - in front
and multiplicative inverse just means reciprocal
Ok
What's the additive inverse of -5?
5
Whats the multiplicative inverse of 1/17
0
-1/17
No?
17
yeah
Yes
What?
I feel so dumb okay bye tqs
probably shouldn't have introduced identities like that
but id expect 10th graders to be able to handle this
it was fine up until the last three messages
ure just trolling now
Yeah, u are right
💀
- who the heck uses # for the group operation
- no one writes (G, #) out
- why the fuck are you using i for the identity
What happened to star
i have so many questions
okay buddy
i bet you also write I for the integers
cuz Integers
algebra and reading aren't your best skills are they
identity functions are usually Id or Id_whatever set
or just 1
or 0
depending on the context
Wait I’m braindead Ncm
I can’t remember my textbook
Tu uses 1
Yeah
For some reason I thought it was I
It's not productive to go against norms because you like your version better
It's just annoying and confusing for others
I've never seen someone use i
How did a math department come up with a major electrical engineering application namely Transmission of symbols via free space and error correcting codes?
I mean these guys have little to no experience with voltages and currents but still came up with such great stuff.
what
Blud?
Peopel can be good at more than one thing?
sucks in general
takes forever to get anything done
they're getting more and more restrictive with undergraduates (limiting grad courses, reading courses)
but you're not an undergrad anymore, so does that affect you in any way?
they don't listen to student complaints (my experience in my third year with my mat357 instructor breaking the homework rules)
okay this is true lmfao
uh oh
i'm not confident they wouldn't try to pull the same shit on me if i were a masters student
same/similar
oh, fair enough
it left a bad taste in my mouth
literally most incompetent admin I have ever dealt with it's insane
stories?
i don't exactly know how they would, but i wouldn't put it past them
maybe nG can tell
other student of my advisor transfers there
admin: how much money is your advisor giving you
student: like $5k
admin: okay [deducts $5k from pay]
yikes
i am never going to see uoft admin in the same light again after this
my high school physics teacher told me "don't go to uoft, they don't give a shit about their students"
i went, and...
😬
got a good education tho
i literally went to visit my high school physics teacher today (we're on reading week), i watched her once again tell her class not to go to uoft lmao
maybe we had the same one
she must have told our grade 12 class this at least 30 times over the semester
crazy
possibly, but i'm not about to dox myself lmao
too late, i already have your full name and address and
i bumped into my grade 11 chemistry teacher a little while ago
i'm actually surprised she recognized me
small city...
i thought about going back and visiting my high school some time into my second year
but, uh, 2020, so...
ah
i've visited every chance i've gotten so far
thats 3 times this year alone (so far)
it helps that i can walk to my hs in 10 min though, vs commuting to uoft for 2hrs
doxxed!!!1!!
get the hose
2 hour commute? I could never 😭
i just learnt that a flight to montreal from toronto takes 1 hr 15 min
lmao
i might as well go to mcgill ig
Lolol
Actually I remember this story of a student that actually took the plane to commute
oh from vancouver to uoft?
Nah some berkeley student
demenage a montreal si tu veux aller a mcgill
there was some insane story like that i once saw on the uoft subreddit
Apparently it was more affordable than rent
toronto
checks out
(ignore my lack of reading comprehension)
i wish i was better at french sometimes tbh
i dont know what the first word means
move (in the context of moving houses/apartments)
ah
Same, french classes in quebec always brought my average down 🥲
in the imperative. so i'm telling you to do that
okay that makes sense lol
i couldnt tell you, because i didnt do gr11/12 french
i have a feeling that they wouldn't have been pleasant though
my bf did all the french he could in his alberta high school. they don't go far according to him
although maybe an albertan high school has less reason to teach french than one in ontario
true
the first year french class at uoft was way too big for me to take it
i refuse to take any languages course out of fear of looking like an idiot
in my second year i took the first year russian language courses. i recommend those, especially if barnabas is teaching any
Relatable
it can help you get that one breadth requirement out of the way
i'm almost done breadth actually
i have 1.0 credits to go

i'm doing an immunology course this semester for the biology requirements
i dont know why i signed up for this tbh
at least the class is somewhat interesting
Was your decision to learn russian math related?
not at all
but i'm getting cooked by the terminology
my friend and i needed to clear the same breadth requirement, so we were on the lookout for cool courses we could take together
he suggested russian language
we went for it
it was indeed a cool course
it was a small (< 25 people) course, and by the second semester maybe like 15 people were in
i got told soc100 would be easy and it was the most tedious garbage shit course i've ever taken
sounds nice actually
don't believe people who say xyz course is easy
uoft class sizes are enormous usually
That’s nice, personally I’m hoping to take a Japanese course next semester if my schedule allows for it
okay but, this was a very close friend (7+ years)
drop them NOW
discussion 2 is dead most of the time istg
i like a more paced chat
d1 is the equivalent of people in a crowded room yelling over each other
tell me a bit about yourselves?
how do I send images here bro tf
u cant its disabled by the mods
f
I wanted to share someone who is a math conspirationist
I never saw someone like that
I am so intrigued
@neat lintel what math topic do you intend to specialize in for grad school? Do you normally decide that by the time you finish undergrad?
you guys r grad or under grads ?
I’m undergrad
also where r u from just out of curiosity
Canada
so ryt now ur in uni ?
Ye
which course ?
first year undergradate student studying math and physics (hopefully); suffers from a major skill issue in both subjects
Aw, don't worry! I almost failed my first year, and I had to retake some courses
i intend to do something related to differential geometry, but i'm open to other things (especially anything related to mathematical physics, like classical or quantum mechanics maybe)
it's a process to adjust to the new workload
but I believe you can, the first year is literally the hardest to find your way around
oh damn, diff geo is probably the section of math i'm most interested in too (as of right now)
MATHEMATICAL PHYSICS MY BELOVED
I'm finishing my bachelor's this semester, and while it doesn't necessarily get strictly easier, you'll know your way around more i think ^^
do qft with me
i hope so
I don’t have a clue what those things are but that sounds cool af
Did you study physics as well in undergrad?
Just a random question, how common is to see people who claim that the big mainstream in math is trying to silence them because they solved some big problem like The Riemann hypothesis?
I never expected people like that to exist, but I guess they do.
in real life or on the internet?
internet
Very common
oh, then i see it quite often lol
oh ok
lol
there is a guy who claims he is the world's best mathematician and he discovered a new approach to calculus.
anyways, how y'all doin
Btw, I am going to be a freshman undergrad next year for math bs, what can I expect on my first classes?
proofs
i feel like i know a negative amount of math lmao
compared to whats out there
I am actually doing self study on some proofs rn.
what about like calculus
should I expect to take calc 1 and 2 in a year?
depends on where you are
like what university or what country?
both, but i'm referring more to the country
Cause is most likely Penn State
yeah, idk much about the system there, but i guess calc 1 and 2 sound reasonable for the first year
Sorry for this naive question, but what exactly is to get a pure mathmatics degree. Because I looked up and there is no such a thing as pure mathematics as a major. Is pure math an specilization or is it a tittle you get after grad school?
nope, just pure math. but i took quantum and classical mechanics in my last year
Last question, should I try to get some classes done over the breaks, after semesters? I am seriously thinking of taking 1 or 2 classes during the breaks primarily because I will have nowhere to go during breaks and I would rather just study more.
offered by the pure math department, but, of course, these ARE physics-inspired
in my uni you can actually do a Master's in pure math
i have some friends who're doing it
Arrgh that’s so cool, I wish I had courses like that
(and I'm doing pure math bachelor's)
I mean, if they're offering classes you're interested in, why not?
Depends on how busy you are preparing for exams or other things in your life
Personally I think that’s the kind of question that you want answer yourself instead of taking other people’s advice, since it depends entirely on your own priorities
And you can also test the waters, and opt out later maybe?
hi
my prof said no more homework over email ,but i am physically unable to go to class
is there another way to compensate for absence?
421/461?
but there should be like exceptions due to health reasons no?
yup, apm421 and mat461
mat461 was taught by boris khesin, who was a phd student of arnold (!!)
amazing professor. take a class with him if you can
i took that with mccann for like, two weeks. i hated it
oh what 😭
yes but mines are not life threating
is it prof dependent?
perhaps
im going to print it and email him
i don't really remember what i didn't like about the prof
or sneak into his office and put it on his desk
am i allowed to replace 426 with like phy483 then
how difficult is it to convince the department to allow for a course replacement for a program
How hard is it to send an email?
oh sending an email isnt the issue, i'd be far more concerned about actually convincing them that the course subsitution is valid
don't listen to that guy
i'm not sure. check in with the department(s)
i'd expect not, given their historical lack of lenience, but best way to find out is to ask em
i see
maybe look into it on the course listings or degree requirements or whatever, see if it's possible
do that before you email
it's definitely not in the degree requirements
emailing is probably a good idea though
i'll worry about it in a couple of years from now
i wouldn't know what to do about convincing them whether you can do it or not
tbh i dont either
maybe just beg
Toronto moment
course substitution seems to be on a departmental basis, from a quick google search
ah
looks like exactly what you want
What a cursed place
the Program Requirements Wavier Form just links to the fucking math department website
LOL
what is this about btw
there used to be one page with all the forms you'd ever need. i can't find it anymore
also hello tteppa
There are several requests that can be processed by the Undergraduate Office in the Department of Mathematics. Requests must be made as far in advance as possible and preferably before the start date of the courses. Forms submitted after the course start may not receive full consideration. Under normal circumstances, the department cannot proc...
probably has to do with first years getting brutally fucked by mat157 because they don't know proofs
hi moth
what're these "strategies" that they speak of though
no idea
i was just guessing
Think very hard
damn, i never would have guessed
i suppose i'll just think harder next time
and i'll get a 4.0
that's what i did
went from getting a 63 or whatever in mat157 to a 100 in mat327 the following year
the book says strategies for learning math not for getting good grades
100 wtf
i think for the latter the best idea is to transfer universities
lol tsimerman was teaching it, he's a very generous grader
will i get good next year
well, i know this isn't very useful
it was more like, oh fuck i did poorly in this class, what was i doing wrong
oh, playing apex legends for 8 hours a day is what i was doing wrong
not doing extra work outside of homework and class
etc.
i see
practice
also
just my mat157 mark probably isn't representative of how my first year went
i did well in mat240/247
i reaaaally got fucked by 157
there was still a bit of "oh fuck, i gotta turn it around"
my second semester was trash
hm
i need to up my game for both 157/247 tbh
240 could have went a lot better
247 is with meinrenken
THOSE NOTES
so i'm hoping that i wont do as badly
can you send me his class notes
i can DM them yes
i won't tell anyone i promise
(i say, saying it out loud)
alright @fresh comet
here's a fun little thing no one told me in my first year
in mat347 you're probably going to see all of this diagonalization, jordan form, rational canonical form stuff again
all under one general theorem
these are all special cases of a general structure theorem for finitely generated modules over principal ideal domains
In mathematics, in the field of abstract algebra, the structure theorem for finitely generated modules over a principal ideal domain is a generalization of the fundamental theorem of finitely generated abelian groups and roughly states that finitely generated modules over a principal ideal domain (PID) can be uniquely decomposed in much the same...
module = vector space over a ring
principal ideal domain = ring whose every "ideal" is principal (generated by a single element)
.
looks like i need to learn a lot of algebra
to understand anything you said or sent rn
if i'm gonna be honest though, there's a certain charm in not knowing wtf is going on in math
it never really goes away
i lurk the advanced channels sometimes and wonder how tf i'd ever study any of it (well enough to understand anything at all)
at least math is cool enough to make me want to keep studying it, despite knowing that i'll never know enough of it to contribute anything meaningful
despite knowing that i'll never know enough of it to contribute anything meaningful
how do you know that?

it's a good guess
probably a reasonable one too
but it never hurts to be optimistic i suppose
What is "meaningful" to you? Contributing to mathematical cannon? Serving your country? Prestige? Teaching others? I think we need better mathematical writing, a clearer understanding of what we DO know, but is abstruse at best to most people. There are a lot of really really good causes that are absolutely lost when it comes to math/stat. Math makes people nervous, and we seem to be trusting it less. What type of work do you imagine doing?
dam this is really deep
Can get you free chicken
Finally had the “non assessed just for feedback” homework marked for my algebra class, really really glad I did it. Literally received 0 feedback on it
can someone teach me integrals/trigonometrical equations(just the basic)
I do the exact same thing
That’s a terrible name choice for a theorem, way too long
I can’t believe it, I actually somewhat understand all these terms
Neither do I dw
ring theory with no rings
Basically rings without the distributive property
Is there any guide on what to do if stuck in learning Math, I have no idea what to do cause I can't understand some basic concepts and stuff
in a reduced row echlon form matrix whats the goal what are you trying to turn the matrix into
oh first non zero element has to be 1 in each row with all the once below it be 0
Lmfao
Should I attempt this?
Attempt to what
rref
Well you'll need at most 3! = 6 steps
how do you know that?
oh i see
nvm
Basically similar to the proof of gaussian elimination, first row scaled times the other three, then you have (1, 0, 0, 0)^T as first column
Wait
Because you need to scale the "first rows" too
Despair

There is WA
WolframAlpha
Aye but i cant use that during a test
Can you use a calculator?
Yes
Really? Such an "advanced" calculator?
It says we can't and at the same time says we can
So i'll use it and if they ask blame the teacher for no writing the syllabus correctly
It should take at most 4*4 operations**
Scale to make first entry 1, add multiples to three other rows
And that four times
Took me a little more for the first column because I didn't follow the procedure I wrote above strictly
Or else I would have had fractions
looks like torture ong on ong
Well now 63 is a multiple of 9
You can right away get one 0 there
I would make 63 to 0
Then add last row to first
Then we have -1
And we can use that to make the 58 to 0 without fractions
But the numbers will slowly get large
But that should just be because of this system
Probably in an exam you wouldn't get a randomly picked system but something that cancels more or less nicely?
Well I guess this one isn't a random one either because you can always create these 1s nicely
it did?
On mobile
huh. it hasnt changed on mobile for me yet
me neither
though i think i had the experimental ui turned on
maybe that became the new ui?
What is experimental ui?
i forgot, but there was an option to toggle it on
in the settings
it was just a redesign they were working on
For me, it has this huge search button that does not work (no response when clicked).
Why do i get redirected to a random help channel instead of the original channel i was on everytime i click back from another discord server to this math discord server and how do i turn this off
does this only happen for this server?
Yeah
that is ... very odd
seems like a discord issue, you might want to contact support
it happens to me sometimes too
it's probably just discord being bad
don't expect it to ever get fixed
you certainly cant expect it to get fixed, if you dont contact support
I'm on the verge of passing out but i must study math
Throw your books out the window
This happen to me too
matrics
we are doing that in out linear algebra and analytical geometry class
You gotta love matrix multiplication
You just failed the Turing test
What?
Only a computer could possibly enjoy matrix multiplication
Its relaxing
Wanna try 100x200 matrix?
Im afraid i havent gotten past 32. Sorry
This mans life will change when he learns about sage or matlab
Why relax when you can have MATLAB relax for you
Also if MATLAB is short for matrix laboratory then is it pronounced MateLab
mate
the higher you go the less you have to actually calculate matrix multiplications, and you just write them symbolically instead
though arguably the pain of computation in the intro course is needed to appreciate the convenience of the canonical forms
and the power of pure maths in general. linear algebra is a dividing line where people get to learn something from both the pure and applied perspective
\
Matrix multiplication is easy compared to what lies ahead 💀 ||when you have to solve them algebraically using expressions like 1 (transpose) * A||
I prefer the latter
A student wrote 26/13 =/=2, therefore contradiction
🤦♂️
I can't make this sht up
what the heck
yo
???
26/13 neq 2 IS a contradiction?
is this some inside joke
i think the student showed that 26/13 = 2, then said "but 26/13 =/= 2, so this is a contradiction, qed"
ah k
funny but not that weird
i would guess writing the proof involved keeping track of many stuff?
sounds like the kids I grade in my precalc class 😭
kids are stupid
wait do i count as a kid
judging by that name
nah biggus dickus is a boomer joke from monty python
boomer spotted
apparently monty python and the holy grail was not popular in the uk
but it was like, a huge hit in the us for some reason lol
life of brian is good
they are right tho
i mean did they ever prove that fractions are well defined? Might be onto something
Hey chat, I'm a computer science major.
Which one of these should I select?
nvm, they want me to write an essay. Can't do that
least lazy cs major
I know my strengths
Not tryna yap about how the color of my skin will be beneficial for everyone else

???
???
we see
Indeed
Can u teach me how to rizz
Pls
No
How does one rank a super duper fast growing function on the fast growing hierarchy
Google tree(3)
I have my own function im trying to rank
Its written in a programming language though since im not familiar with advanced math notation
function H(a,n,b)return n==0 and a+1 or n==1 and a+b or n==2 and a*b or b==0 and 1 or H(a,n-1,H(a,n,b-1))end function f(x)local function mt(c)if c==0 then return setmetatable({[0]=setmetatable({},{__index=function()return function(x)return H(x,x,x)end end})},{__index=function(t,n)local d=math.ceil(math.log(n,x))t[n]=setmetatable({[0]=function(x)for i=1,x^d do x=t[n-1][x](x)end return x end},{__index=function(a,i)return function(x)x=a[i-1](x)for j=2,x^d do x=a[i-1](x)end return x end end})return t[n]end})else return setmetatable({mt=mt(c-1)},{__index=function(t,n)t[n]=setmetatable({[0]=function(x)for i=1,H(x,c,c)do x=t.mt[x-1][x](x)end return x end},{__index=function(a,i)return function(x)x=a[i-1](x)for j=2,H(x,c,c)do x=a[i-1](x)end return x end end})return t[n]end})end end return mt(x)[x][x](x)end
LuaU
i see
unfortunately i am unfamiliar with the language so i'd have no clue how to parse this
yeah I was gonna say the same thing
lua is very similar to pseudocode so i can read it if its formatted sensibly
but this... is not lmao
yeah wtf is mteatable lmao
maybe you could try explaining what your function is doing in natural language?
this reminds me of when roblox programmers used to minify their code to try and obfuscate it
lmao
if this is minimized then luaU is a bulky-ass language lmao
this is literally roblox code lmao
they basically turn tables into things that work kinda like classes
im trying to send it via notepad
not exactly like classes but close enough
lua has no OOP so you need workarounds like this
But its gonna leak my identity so ima find smth else
anyway, my first impression is that this is nontrivial to compute anything useful about
like not mathematically, just intuitively
and would require a few weeks of mathematical analysis
i just wanted to see how fast of a growing function i could create
Yeah but how do you know that it even halts for f(2) or more
like what strategy were you using to make the function
Hyperoperation, infinite sequences (like mini FGH’s but much faster), recursion, and i want to say fixed point iteration but its really iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of…
oh yeah
its the concept of iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of iterating on the concept of…
how many layers these things go in are based on what input really
and it balloons really large first
and during
yeah
Do you know javascript, or c, or something other than this? I dont really feel like learning about metatable rn
And also, I would save this function, and start with a simpler one to analyze first
I can explain it really simply
oh sure i guess, thx
basically those metatable parts are the infinite structure
Sequence i mean
So fgh[0] is the base function
Then fgh[1] iterates on fgh[0]
Then 2 on 1
…
The function inside the __index is the base function
And then theres series’s of fgh’s
Ok
Here
__index will run the function its set to when you index a nil indice
Thats it
I used that to create ~recursive infinite structure
where you can index any indice
yeah im still not sure what's going on, sorry
Ill download the code to look at later maybe, but id really start simpler than that if this is the first time you've done something like this
Okay, dw its fine
I could walk you through it in a vc sometime if ur really that interested
but not atm
maybe at some point, yeah. Maybe look at Goodstein sequences https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodstein's_theorem , you might get a good idea of how to prove things about stuff like this
also can u open a new question in the same channel??
wow i hope you survive
I'm so fucked
whyd you change it
Shit of tea?
stop posting this, this is turning into spam
The flat earther being in second place is wild
Considering this is a joke poll, Vermin Supreme being on it is so insulting. They are actually a good candidate
wait so, @light needle
ok
what happened
weird
said that she just, casually revealed medical info about them
which are protected by law
yeah, isnt medical info a pretty big deal?
cant you get thrown in prison for leaking it
Wild 😭
medical team? idk really
mine were like "just dont be sad lmao"
the counselor was good though
oh we had none lol
i got called into his office an erm
no therapy, that is
incident... lets call it
Lmao
and he was good at the therapy thing
fr
oof
My school counselor tried his best
I got called a lot for therapy in my english classes cuz my english teacher was calling me mentally ill person every single time he sees me and in front of everyone...
Stopping work causes the issue at home lmaooooo
well to be fair my incident was a bit emberassing
my physics teacher had a lot of criticisms regarding our counselors, which i mostly agreed with
i was like, trying to make a meme in my english class
😭😭
and so on an essay i wrote like super edgy shit for fun
Bruh
lmfao
😔🥺😭
and the teacher was concerned something was wrong with me lmfao
LMFAO
I got called in 8th grade for analyzing a character of death in a book
And calling it too homicidal
💀💀
No shit it’s death
my english teacher would often say "slavery is good we should bring it back"
The fuck
wha-
Are you sure you lived in Ontario
yeah
And not like Alabama
I'm seriously not making these stuff up
yo
wow
deltoid
this is wild
for ontario specially
i wanna leave canada tbh
This sounds like southern US America
Hates math
Hates black people
💀💀
Hates education
Don’t come here it’s not worth it
america will be all that turned upto 20
The thing abt America is it’s so lopsided
canada sucks
us sucks
...
Like there are some amazing things and people and then you have so many actually like mentally ill people rolling around
EU!
Let me guess... ontario?
was a quip, but it is a partial concern too
yes
one of the reason I lefts was because of this
Idk maybe if you live in a big city
wo bu ai zhongguo i don't want to be detained forever
I had similar experience
ahh, pinying i can read for once lol
no i mean like, did you see the string of shootings that happened, where e.g. black guy knocks on wrong persons door by mistake, and gets shot
I’ve never felt at risk of anything like that (admittedly I live in rich land but still nowhere even close)
like the issue is that the right wing psychos have the guns
real
Give everyone guns for no reason
like we had a major hate crime here in waterloo a couple months ago
zao shang hao zhongguo
i live in a country with a high crime rate but ive never felt scared of getting shot
where some guy came into a gender studies class
I heard about that
Uh oh
the fuck
I was not expecting that
yea
if this were america it would have been a shooting
😭
@neat lintel LMAO
Nah, the guy isn't in jail. they became police chief
Probably because I’m mentally ill
its the same issue of right wing extremism, but in america the nutjobs have a gun
Home is home
hehe
Half the government is also the nutjobs
Lmao
as soon as i hit enter i realized i've already been dooming so much recently
the US terrifies me in many ways tbh
i should doom less
ever since i came to canada my dooming like
ceased
lol
Play doom the video game!
i've only been to Boston, and that was one time like 7 years ago
I was so mad and scared in america and I dont really feel that here
they shouldve retired. my grandpa cant even speak english anymore
Nice Canadian is wild
The myths are true
Canada makes you overly nice
I’ll never give up my American right to be angry!!
lol
Is that also an amendment?
TTC has had a lot of these types of incidents recently
oof
i'm always on edge now about being pushed onto the subway tracks
oh yeah i feel like its only developed countries that have hate crimes
Well they’re not crimes in other countries
That is definitely not true lmao
They’re just life
TTC is basically a mw2 lobby with all the slurs flying around
💀
actually though
yea
there's a lot of hate going around in the stations
i live in belize so i cant really say
this one time i was waiting in a nearly empty station and some guy at the end of the platform was just shouting the n word into the tunnel
not even at anyone
What
just... into the void
hello marlins
ello
Oop
yeah... thats quite bad
ain't the worst i've seen
Are you sureee this isn’t ameircs
canadians can be quite hateful too

Yes but this sounds like a murica story
Such a murica story

But a miserable pile of secrets
never seen more drug deals out in the open than in oshawa in broad daylight
Have at you fiend!
Hey maybe I should move there
Drugs 😋
my cousin told me that her high school has students bringing handguns in their backpacks and selling heroin in the washrooms
if i didn't have to worry about money or working then i'd probably live somewhere north of oshawa. sufficiently in the middle of nowhere
which is insane
Handguns in backpack is wild
i would actually like to live in rural alberta but... lol...
Drugs is more believable
lmao...
maybe northern ontario is equivalent
i cant verify the claims
but i see no reason why she'd lie
look i visited banff and all the other tourist places and got pilled
i got mega turbo pilled
well im going to alberta this summer
Of the kids in his wing
so lol

lol i see

u of alberta is in edmonton

Looks like prison
I have seen art museums in America that look more striking
happy birthday
thank you

Shit, the new ask pronouns is actually fire
Nice, He/Him doesn't overwrite ask pronouns!
goes apeshit
@everyone i hate math
you could begin with your lecture notes if you're studying
it hates you too
What’s that
Like you’re saying when I write something write lecture notes
And then adapt it into a book?
Yeah, maybe... if you think it's a good idea
There's many people doing that
I did it with a non maths subject last year. Now I'm doing it for Multivariate Calculus and I get to add beautiful stuff like 3d graphs while learning the subject
My professor is happy she'll have good notes to teach from, next session onwards
O THAYS cool
I’m not there yet tho
Yes... Looks beautiful
You should start with a small course or something!
Like algebra 1?
That should work... I would recommend a subject where you can sacrifice some interaction if you get what I mean. Because you'll be devoting more time to note taking than you usually do with pen and paper... And that's why I switched from Sequences and Series to Multivariate Calculus because I find the latter easier to cover up in case I miss parts of the lecture (or can't focus) while typing
