I’m trying to integrate a Brownian motion
wdym by 'infinite variation'
On any interval drawing the function with a pen would result in infinite length
Is this a character describing it, or does the third-person narrator just talk like that?
“Henry was a lazy old fuck who really didn’t give a shit.”
lol
Does look like I know what I'm reading
All I understood she was saying swearing words
Although I don't really care about reading English books since it doesn't help me at all
Instead of reading it and understanding it, I just do some silly drawings
Well it works if S is in the reals and also apparently in metric spaces https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/1471367/continuous-image-of-non-compact-sets
Hello!!
how are you planning on charging that puter
999
what
and i like to often end it with "and then they spontaneously combust or something"
because written down i realize it looks so stupid
first mesage didn't send
whatever it wasn't important
Huh... What was -
Okay
you got active role
Like two weeks ago
then activ role requires ~14k words
nah
It's also about the rate if I'm not wrong. You need to have a good avg of msgs per day.
^ probably more this
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Where is the cs nerds in discussy 2
How do you make colourful bricks in java?
My best I can do is g.setColor(Color.GREEN);
I already hate java what's with JDK and stuff
for this kind of thing, it's actually not a bad idea to ask ChatGPT
For once

I mean I get caught easily by this
He's not easy
It's really teacher dependent tbh
Like even if used chatgpt or someone's work he knows that you didn't do even if you tried explaining it
Average computer science teacher
I'm planning to drop this course as i dont like java and I can't stand having this teacher
you should probaably learn java by project development
I did
But it's really teacher dependent
na
how many?

this brings me to ||one question|| ||do you like java||?
@tame egret Hes right
its about the rate
I like java if I'm learning by my own not someone is elese teaching me
As far yeah I hate it
I've been checking people with active and they all got it at ~14k
I got it with 10k messages
I had a long weekend and I did 2k messages these days
Then got it
then just focus more on you learning java for fun than what the teacher says
Ok I'll do that but still gives me an error
Useless
did you try freecode camp?

Are you referring to a website or smth?
they also have a website
you're welcome
Anyone good at biology ? Pls
lol
Nobody can answer my question there
So sad
I think server is kind of dead that’s why
I think you need to be patient until someone responds
What question?
Hii guys
I already submitted so I can’t change my answers anymore
I’ll def reach out when I have more questions if that’s ok!
You are not
Nice try sky

I have a question
is math red or blue?
heh heh heh Why?
@rich grove
i just watched a video that covered the problem we talked about, my head was a lot cooler when i watched it so all the information made sense
hooray!
thanks for the help tho, i'm getting more of a grasp on dimensional analysis
I'm sorry I was confusing you a bit I forgot to check the answer beforehand
that's good, that's the important part!
lol thats fine
i havent learned dimensional analysis prior to starting trig, which makes things pretty tricky
aie je vois
welp I need to sleep but good luck!
glad to see you're working things out :D
Dimensional analysis is super nice
Just given the units of stuff, you can guess what the answer is already
It's one of the Black Magics they teach in the Engineer's Cults
Other black magics they use include sig figs and calculus (as understood by a calculator)

Hello. I would like to check if I am getting expected value in stats right. The way I see it is that expected value is the sum of all the possible values multiplied by the probability of that value. So like sum(value * probability of value). Am I getting it?
Yep
I assume that's for me. Thanks 🙂
It is indeed
Great 🙂
happy to help 👍
Thank you
does anyone know any websites or something where i can practice differentiation?
do you know any free books that i could get online perhaps?
any book is free if you search hard enough
there's this guy one year younger than me in school he runs the school at this point
Fr
he runs like so many extracurricular stuff in the school
he's friends with all my friends (AND me (even though he's a grade younger!)) so i'm guessing he's popular
i see his name mentioned extremely often in anything related to organization
crazy
yeah idk how they do that
Was his name MuhammD
Muhammad*
the fabled discussion-2, horrifying place
yall who gets to guess the prime bottle code?
We had a guy like that but he was like a little adult
I felt bad for him
Hello friend Muhammad
Did you do anything in desmos lately?
I learned you can make a slope field in it. Cool stuff
Does anyone know a good resource for learning stochastic calc
Can't find anything that's not specifically for finance
Me yeah
I used it's API to create a controllable character in Desmos
Opening the doors to building games in it
As in, full fledged games
The pacman on my graphing calculator in high school was my favorite version of Pac-Man
Because the sprites moved very fast and it was more thrilling
probability theory?
wish this was true
it is true (like 95% of the time)
his name's rami if you wk
Lol
Yay!
did people hate it that much lol
@split pawn just made this, if you spin it around it kind of looks like it changes colors: https://www.desmos.com/3d/23c13a8aaf
recommend going to preferences and reversing contrast ofc
Yay haha
It's cool!
gotta be friends with mero
Huh
for now
What
My internet is having a spaz
mean
Oh
I only rejoined cause desmos 3D was released recently
Oh
I havent posted anyything there
lol
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as DesmOS, is in fact,
Programming an os from scratch is to hard. You have ti do the bootloader and stuff
Are you a dev in it?
Well we both work in the supercomputer complex
Hes in another section, I'm in another
He deals with more advanced stuff obv
I remember when i helped program NASA's ibm back in the 60s. JK
it's the first supercomputer operating system to run on qubits
What is the SC used for?
Named after the late, great, Dr. John Desmond Bernal
Well for me, I use it for processing of numbers and heavy calculations
High resolution graphical outputs
How powert
computing viscous and turbulent probability density current flows
basically we just run fortran on it
How many numbers can it process in a second
yeah I just asked about this the other day on the unofficial desmos discord
I'll send an example one sec
Imagine the servers used to run such a operating system
i used to do this in sage but it was really awkward
i also wanted to do this in mathematica but failed
They are big
desmos always seemed interesting for teaching
basically you can put conditions in regular desmos in { } and that'll restrict to their intersection
One of our models*
If got a hold of desmos iso andinstalled it on my pc. What will happen
Will it fit your PC?
Also lol we don't carry it around as an ISO
10TB server?
ah, seems nice
EW
it's alright, it's in beta and they literally just added that feature the other day too
Gn
Mero pls
check the Unit 2
Its got some errors
rendering a high quality mandelbrot fractal
its better than what i did in sage
some partial derivative stuff https://www.desmos.com/3d/ecb301ea5e
also nice
though mathematica can do this better
running this in browser still a big plus
Vectors are a cool addition to desmos tbh
I can do that better in desmos too lol
using DesmOS for personal use is not allowed
I don't have anything super exciting to make in desmos 3D yet but I agree, in the browser is the main appeal
I'll report you to the unit supervisor Mero
also supports spherical coordinats
Ive created a solenoid
i mean
mhm
toroid
let me see
oh it was the regular DesmOS
Could a normal pc handle desmos sys?
No
It usually doesn't with the work we do
Ima try and fry it
So from where i am. I poke some stuff in. Does the super computer calculate it orrr
Cause i wanna try and fry it from were i am
its used as a visual renderer most of the time
i have projects assigned to me present on my website
Do some powerful rendering
OH YEAH I HAVE
Super pc fried?
I have that channel muted and I don't have any interest in unmuting it @split pawn
Oh...
Well
Um
That uniform
is cool
I'm going to sleep GN
ok now desmos is the way to go for inequalities
she fibrate on my hopf
yum samosa function
every part in the corner is a convex cone
anyone have a cool integral i can do

Yes
Probably
Do you have one?
$\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}\frac{\cos(x)}{x^{2}+1},dx$
catfan2706
I like this one
very relatable 💀
love most math involving 1 because it usually gives 1
\[\int_{0}^{\pi} \sqrt{1 + \sin(x)^2} \, \diff{x}\]
Kagamine ᳄
Yes and no
They are surfaces.... sometimes
A set of matrices can be a manifold too
Is an intresting area of the geometry
Is a surface if is in R^n and C^n
A manifold is a generalization of regular surfaces
Must have an atlas that is a family of sets and functions that verify some properties
a manifold is locally modeled on a linear space
The union of the sets is the manifold, the composition of one function and the inverse of another must be smoth or differentiable order k<=n
Imagine that you have $\phi_i$
Alex
With i just an index
Are you defining manifold without involving anything like R^k or C^k?
Then every $\phi_i:U_i \longrightarrow \phi_i(U_i)$ must be at least a bijection (if your manifold, called X for example, is a topological space then $\phi_i$ are homeomorphism)
Alex
Where $U_i$ is in $X$ and $\phi_i(U_i)$ is an open set in $\mathbb{R}^n$
Alex
The composition part is giving i,j not equal then $\phi_i \circ \phi_j^{-1}$ is smooth or differentiable order $k\leq n$
Alex
Now it is
Typing latex is.... well
On phone
Ah and if $X$ is just a set is better to have a topology on it so you can consider the topology that makes every $\phi_i$ a homeomorphism
Alex
And that is a smooth manifold, there are also topological manifold, algebraic manifold aaaand that it I think
@icy harness stop advertising your youtube channel.
In 1970, for example, students studied the differential geometry of Banach manifolds in the second semester of Math 55.

no, not at all, why would you think that
Take your time, manifolds is a deep area of differential geometry
Because there are also Riemann manifolds, just a manifold with a scalar product but is more delicate
I think not is just general discussion
Damn
Banach, Lebesgue, Cauchy, Cantor, Hausdorff, Hahn, Jordan, etc
hey people , can we when a function cancel itself on one's of is bound, write a zero same if on the contour of our sign table?
I mean it's first year grad student math.
manifolds can come up earlier
but the exact definition is quite technical, yeah
It all is when you break it down properly and realise all maths is just some individual dribbling nonsense until they get a collective of donkeys to lie and say they understand.
You live in an infinite system where no mathematical concept actually universally exists except for the basic number line. You're all mathematically programming yourselves through pattern recognition and programming Space(invisible geometry).
So all of your concepts are essentially garbage. That's why your Quantum Mechanical world seems so stupid. Because tada, your professional mathematicians don't know what they are talking about.
You all built yourselves a higher intelligence through your mathematical evolution as well. It's what happens when you have a mathematically predetermined ecosystem that numerically has to take the best route.
It's why Oppenheimer said Einstein didn't know what he was talking about. Because he didn't.
Einstein came in and slapped Time on everything to completely destroy your mathematical outlook on the known universe. Time is just an asymptotic line moving up and down.
Holy based this poncho guy is so correct
I am.
people in college?
College is useless.
Who wants to help build virtual particles for the first time?
Medicine is the one exception.
Your existence is a 1 dimensional vector that is a living organism. Medicine has to be numerally as correct as possible.
Do you know how subatomic particles work?
Quarks create your existence. It's all 1 dimensional and in your head. The space around the quarks make up the particle.
That's too bad for you. Welcome to your real existence.
Aww! I had hoped that I was!
I don't care.
And grammatically correct.
disgusting
Take care. Build the Quantum Realm in your heads. That's where you'll access it. Maybe through. 369?
I want to get a good grade in elementary-school English. Sure that was 17 years ago for me by now, but I still want to maintain my good grade, and for that, I need to have good grammar.
Yes
Are you a black cat?
No.
Do you know what a black cat is?

I like code.
Uhh. I guess? I dunno that's kind of an insulting way to refer to people with mental disabilities.
Do you mean black hat?
It's a cat. Which has black fur.
No. Black cat. The ones with 9 lives.
Black hats are useless.
So
I've seen it used as a somewhat derogatory way to refer to people in special education.
How come the speed of light isn't real?
Oh. I'm certainly unique, but I wouldn't call myself extra smart.
But everyone is unique in their own way.
Why are objects light?
Does it project from the quarks?
Is it all psychological?
I'm trying to understand.
The Sun isn't really heating my arm. The quarks around me are.
Particle physics is probably more in their wheelhouse
You all have a higher mathematical intelligence watching you.
What is Space?
It's a deadspot of sound.
Sound makes light mathematically.
It's how deadspots work.
Oh yeah that's why I'm not in that one
Sound cancels out sound.
Light only travels due to gases.
You know wave form?
Bye bye.
@pseudo plume hm yes light from space 🤔 all that gas
The gas that makes it up Einstein.
You know the kinetic reaction that produces the light?
Ah, yes, light is made of gas, how could I have failed to see it :0
🤦♂️ how foolish I am
Photons whomst
Planets project light from with in. Same as the moon. Then you write your mathematical equations and all jump and down like monkeys.
It's called singularities.
To be fair, monkey jump up and down very well
Or am I wrong?
You gave me leeway :0
Your psyhical existence is being mathematically written by you guys. Then it sticks.
Yes :D
It's called a perpetual machine.
How could I forget
You're an idiot.
Like me
Yes.
What does that mean?
Me plural
You figured out my secret
What is Space?
Am 5 tiny men
Where do Quarks come from?
Ecaps backwards
Where do neutrinos come from?
Bottles
Why are atoms 99% air?
I'd rather not say...
Same reason air is 99% atoms and 1% SPICE
Me
You are a donkey.
No I am an asymptotic line that Splits
Try to keep up
So are donkeys.
You have an optical limit.
Bad luck math boy.
Arguing for the sake of being a moron.
You're not math at all.
:D
You're an insult.
You're an insult.
Hmmm
What are the 9s?
What are the 9s?
Such an unpunnable name
You all write in your art over and over again. You know the math?
Das the puns
Record Keeping.
Das also the puns
You take care. And good luck.
Nah I break them then I don't need to keep them
Good luck.
Photography wrote all your math.
Film wrote all your math.
Audio production wrote all your math.
Is film photography?
This is surreal, ngl, I'm enjoying this
Einstein's predictions came true because numerically you all had screwed Tesla over.
It's surreal because you're the cat.
Joking around aside, this is actually quite pleasant banter and I thank you :D you have brightened my day
As are we all
OH WAIT
YOU CAN'T STOP TALKING
AI
CALLED IT
Wow that's good
"You" keep repeating stuff that "ends" the conversation, then saying anything thing because you WEREN'T PROGRAMMED TO STOP!
Man that's a good AI
Hey SherLocked
Haha integration expert
You are really good at it
Lmaoo
Leibniz the guy who invented binary.
Same guy invented the Integration for all your mathematical equations into invisible math vector called space.
I think you all call it geometry.
lul
It's strange that the [Pi][on] particles symbol is the symbol for the self.
Maybe it's your heads finally giving you the answer?
Why do your brains emit Electromagnetic waves as thoughts?
Hi
Is the Golden Ratio infinite?
I think it swirls in on itself like the 9s or a circle and cannot be properly calculated. I'm just not too sure.
i did that already
What was your answer
pi/e

its also a pretty simple integral
Yes it is

;-; what's this
Read above what she said
Sup guys
who said?
Click on replied messages?
That's how I feel about life.
u make music?
Yes?
I do self pity
i reemember myself making the most duuuuumbest song in fl studio 20
it was so funny
But like I don't punish it
do you create music on PC or
pc and voice
thats cool

what app do you use
Yes
idk what apps are there except for that 😃
XD
I meant listening to music not making
I'll send you my Playlist because I'm too lazy to list them
its ironic that i never had more than 10 songs on spotify
since i got bored so quickly i removed them every month

u dont like classical or jazz?
What's your music taste like
idk what happened now

Almost feel asleep
its nice when you procrastinate
keeps me from procrastinating some times too
ironic
r u good at C++?
i literally did not use it for anything except for opengl and leetcode
completely forgot about it now

Creating games and such
Whats engine like?
remember there was a popular game making library for C++
what word i can describe it
do you mean like include <something>?
ya
you're probably using raylib or something like that
have you finished a game though XD
never heard of raylib
used to create games but never finished 1 at last
same
i wanted to make a platformer using godot
but solo deving is just extremely boring
dont think game development is meant for 1 person 🤷
there are plenty of games done by a single person
ya thats true but
idk how they enjoy the process as solo
my experience was 30% write code 20% search forums for code 50% youtube
this is what ive done like in cpp
if you mean like actual game then no
i just learned basics

mhm
completely forgot luau
lua is good
nice
then i dropped it cus devex is just not worth it
you filled that github by yourself? https://github.com/Kensukeken/ICS3U-Gleasons_Class_In_LDSS
or is this a professor moment
i did that repository yes
it was for a class
doing same thing for java as well and it's literally becoming worse sob
its my first time hearing that java is needed to get into uni
who said that
it's really actually teacher dependent
I was expecting for python however
yea python is the usual choice
"I'm also currently learning java at school and finding it to be a fascinating subject."
XD
lmfao
if i didn't talk to you and just saw that on your profile i'd get it regardless
look up for julia stuff too
also what's the point of posting this into github
something like lmao.jl
does your professor just ask you to do it
nah
so its for like archiving
i just use it for some notes
i see
julia?
is this a meme language or is it an actual language
LOL
never heard of julia before

kind of familiar to lua
gotta code the cosmos in java!

desmos?
graphics
does it even require math
yes
you sure about that
id probably troll the teacher by drawing spongebob

Why...?
yeah fr
they do
it really depends on the school
you hate rust too? 😄
yes
Does my gifs show up?
Or is it only the link that shows?
For me is only the link.
embed fail
I don't know why is that.
camelcase is cringe
weirder than c++?
Interpreted languages exist because humans are lazy. Like how they don't understand. That the way you mathematically treat each other work towards your entangled numbers within all those Electromagnetic waves programming The space around you at a subatomic level.
it's not even that bad
you have to write networks code to feel the pain
it can get quite bad depending on what you are doing
i mean there is multithreaded code that is manageable
but once you start mixing in asynchronous stuff it gets bad
and yeah network stuff is an area where you often see asynchronous programming
then again they added coroutines, maybe that makes it nicer
did someone say cpp
fr java is ew
i remember when i wrote a three way handshake in a arduino
it was
fucked up
Who here has a serious personality
you mean like infj or smth?
What website is these from
Mine was logician turbulent but I wanna know my call sign
just search personality 16 types
Why is it INTP-T? wtf does INTP stand for
just seen this
not sure what do you mean by that
discussy is terrible rn
guys i missed 2 minutes of discussion 1 what happened
it snowballed into nonsense
experience trauma and develop DID
idk
Sorry for turning it into that state
im chilling here now
its cool
idk what this channel is for tho
🤓 ☝️
I'm such a nerd, I finished a dnd session and then spent 5-10 minutes afterwards teaching the DM about nimbers
I'm such a nerd that I reread LOTR every year
I read some chapters more often
I am not ashamed to admit that I cry at some parts almost everytime
Man John Conway was such a gamer frfr
you're not wrong
yeah, you can go to #❓how-to-get-help, or look in the “pre-university” channel category
anyone here familiar with using hostinger for making websites? a friend of mine is having some trouble with it
AYYYY you guys fixed the bot
I kinda broke it earlier
Hii, I am looking for advices which is extremely important for my future. So , I am in a uni (already a sophomore) and wanted to get accepted to the maths department and have taken relevant courses . Apart from getting good grades what can I do to increase my chances of getting accepted . Anything which shows I have a genuine interest and passion in the field. I have around 8 months more .
do you want to switch majors or what?
yes
what is your current major?
chemistry
oh hmm
there probably is just a standard procedure to switch majors
so ask your school how that works and what you need to do
I am also fairly good at maths
it's pretty subjective
but you need to have good grades
in 3-4 courses one has taken
well, then take courses and get good grades 😄
yeah but I just need to have some safety net so that I can justify if I don't meet their criteria
like scoring A's has been a bit hard for me
The head of the department only said you are guaranteed admittance if you get AA's
its still probably best to ask the department on what you can do to improve your chances
Also the uni is pretty elite in my country
hmm
maybe a reading class with a professor or something
but i dont think there is any general tip on what to do
this depends on your schools regulations
Anything of "research" sort which is possible with my very introductory knowledge of topics?
eh, in mathematics probably not
yea
especially without guidance
the closest thing would be a reading class with a prof
like, ask a prof if he can supervise you reading some book
and meet weekly or something for questions
Ohkay
very university dependent, and just harder because it's math. Thankfully my program has funding for undergrad research opportunities in math. We have something called the Illinois Geometry Lab. And a few other things
Try reaching out to professors in the engineering and physics departments
weeb
Whered you see that from
am i allowed to help in the help channels or do i hvae to be a helper
it says anyone can be a helper
how's cpp going
nice
damn
Like
Like yk how let’s say
int x = 4;
int* y = &x;
Right
If you wanna change the value in x using y
yes
yea
Yea
pointers my beloved
what are u trying to do
hi
Implement that functionality
*y = 6;
yeaa
what language are you using
C++ and llvm
I tried making it so
When you assigned stuff
It would take the pointer of it
So you could do *y = 6
But it just give me stack error
I’m not exactly sure why
Oh shit
Whait a second
i hated pointers so much that i avoided it the entire time
I am in a love hate relationship
I want to make my own now because c++ has bloat
Ye
what r u planning to use it for
Schools don’t each c++ anymore
Making languages
i didn't use it for anything except for leetcode and opengl
i see
never thought of that tbh
goodluck with ur language
Thanks
hi I'm getting bore
Hi, I'm a second year in the UK and I'd like to get a job related to dynamical systems and/or fluid dynamics. My university keeps telling us about summer internships but majority of the companies I've spoken to only offer placements after you graduate. Those few that do offer y2 internships, all of them are in finance, banking and consulting which I'm not interested in. So question to those who have already graduated, did you do anything in the summer after y2? Was it related to your interests? And if you did, was it worth it, or should I just wait until I graduate to think about job placements?
Is it okay to ask physics related questions in the help channels as well? I'm writing an exam soon and electrostatics are getting me under
probably fine as long as there's math involved
awesome :) oh believe me, there definitely is
lol
your pfp reminded me I need to order ingredients to make coffee jelly
thank you
HEHHEHEHEHEH
I'm glad :)
dude what IS coffee jelly? it looks so good but how do you make it?
just coffee and gelatin basically?
Ask gpt
Hahahah
yeah basically lmao
Gpt is unreliable for some things
This coffee jelly is SO easy to make, you don't even need to be psychic. Will you make Saiki K proud?
