the only stress balls I have are B_r(x) = {y in X: d(x, y) < r} :/
Lmao
Idk bro you’ll find out pretty fast when you feel it happen
Alcohol is a direct cause of poorer driving ability.
this is like saying killshealters killing pets if they cant find a home is a steryotype
It’s not coincidentally correlated
@mint patio @thick lodge
People like you are why druggies like me can’t have nice things :(
maybe for you, ill stay in the portion of drivers that cause the minority of accidents
P(accident | drunk)
man
yas queen whip out the math that’ll convince em
what makes it not coincidentally correlated?
Biology lol
Because alcohol directly causes it
LMAO
Alcohol is a depressant
I love statistical fallacies
except alcohol makes me happy???
You can directly point out the cause
how do you know that?
I have something better than a stress ball
Clopen sets
Alcohol can make you happy and sad simultaneously
🤓
so true
Your testicle?
Just the one
hanging on by a thread
How muscly and veiny are your arms bro

Don’t worry lolsies
u never drink alcohol before little bro
makes me feel good fr
mmmm
i have, a little bit, on new years
how old are you
only when driving
joke
wishing the best for you señor dinghy
hope you do not cause an isolated accident that hurts no one but you and causes you to lose your license and permanently mars your record
nope 👍
this is why you should only drunk drive on motorcycles
less chance of killing others
ummm.... how can u actually know anything..... life is like.... just a random sequence of events.....
so true
patterns r like..., totally not real dude...
life is a random walk
just a time series
any Mandelbrot fans ⁉️
yall ever actually talk 2 epistemic nihilists 😭 😭
if u think about it.... if ur nice to people and dont assume theyre stupid because of how they look..... then ur actually being inconsistent unless ur chill with drunk drivers......
explain the random events that led me to your mom's room last night
i love philosophy bro......
broo
you are a homosexual tt
why do you wish pain upon me?
no i dont talk to people who use the word epistemic
It was a 2D random walk you returned father!
probably a good thing
and especially not people who use the word nihilist
why not say, I hope you have a great drive mister :3
But if I were to wish pain on you it would probably be because you’re an insensitive dick playing around with drinking and driving
even better
Based
i'm a homosexual but i can still bang someone's mother
.pin
how do I get in line

No appreciation for my line 😦
'that would be bisexual' - 🤓
LMAO
its not about sexual attraction..... its about proving a point
what
someone can have two dads and i can still bang their mother
what
,w epistemic
HAHA
yeah they could have two dads and a mother
TRUE!
why is everyone here either gay or autistic?
not what i meant daybroken

then you're an AI
how disappointing
so you are an AI?
If that gets me any brownie points

God I love topology

tell us some cool topo facts you know
what
i shared the alexandroff hausdorff the other day
I'm all out
all compact metric spaces are the image of a continuous surjection from the cantor set
This is good too
how cool
if you meme on you i will do weird things on you
that doesn't make sense
it literally does
whatever you say
that's good
I just woke up but this chat felt like a fever dream
zanzan put in the work on this one
I think that voice actress died
Anyone knows whether US army gave jorunalist locations of ajrstrik3s before the public know so they can get first hand view of the strikes?
I need sources for school
I remember someone said it on YouTube
Its was 2003 Iraq??
was this truly the best place you could ask
and now zanzan is putting in the work on me
Let E_n be a sequence of finite 1/2^n nets for your compact metric space. You can make a finite branching tree using the nets whose paths through the tree are cauchy sequences where the nth element in the sequence is in E_n. The set of paths through a finite branching tree is a cantor space, and you can define a function on the space of paths to the compact metric space which maps a sequence to its limit
Yo what this kinda sus .
😵💫
most likely to 😵💫
Nets and finite branching trees are good
what are finite branching trees
@rocky shuttle I actually forgot about this anime until you said the name
I think I watched a bit when I was younger
Imagine you have levels of the tree. A node at level n of the tree should be a sequence of n elements where the ith element is in E_i
it all makes sense now
You want to branch a node once for every element that's close to your node in E_{n+1}
So then the paths through your tree are going to be cauchy sequences
(once you've done the branching for all n)
I just learned about trees
I like this because it effectively puts a limit on the cardinality of a compact matric space. Which isn't entirely surprising I guess, because compact ==> totally bounded, but still interesting
Yeah the limit is Continuum
Unlike topological spaces, which have compact spaces for arbitrarily large cardinalities
Anyway do people understand this argument?
i don't 😭
The point is you want to represent every element of your compact metric space as a cauchy sequence of elements where the nth element in your sequence is in your nth net
And the cauchy sequence should converge 2^-n fast
And because it's totally bounded and complete, these will (1) converge since cauchy, and (2) approach every point in the metric space?
Yeah
And you can represent these sequences with a finite branching tree
And the set of paths through a finite branching tree is a cantor space
Multiple paths could represent the same point
So the function which takes a sequence to its limit is a continuous surjection onto the compact space
And this gives you the desired result
(btw an epsilon net is a finite list of points so that every point is within distance epsilon of one of the points in your list)
(Existence of epsilon nets for all epsilon+ completeness= compactness)
(if you cover a compact space with epsilon balls and take a finite subcover you get an epsilon net)
Yeah man I saw some shit
It’s where the voices come from
Yoinking a quick lil discussion from silly dms
Heine-Borel property seems to be equivalent to *X_fin = *X_ns
What does this mean?
Shit I'm running late to the talk I'm supposed to go to
On discretizing fluid flow and Markov modeling of the discretized model
*X_fin are the elements x such that d(*a, x) is finite for some a in X
*X_ns are the elements which are nearstandard
That's neat actually
Right, so that it doesn’t depend on your model of *X is nifty
This implies heine borel since closed ball of radius r has only ns elements, so it’s compact
Wtf
Oh I read this as ns elements meaning you have an infinite bound on number of elements

Like 2 line proof of equivalence
Not near standard elements
Nah ns as in nearstandard
Yeah I understand now
Idk how you got that lol
What do you mean by infinite bound
I meant like you're literally counting the number of elements in the ball
lmfao
Using infinite elements in your standard model
Well I mean you do have your aforementioned cantor space line
Does it actually exist?
Lol
In particular that’s also an open ball
I should leave now
We know heine borel holds on X, so uhh
I wonder if you can transfer that to compactness on closed ball of infinite size
Or something

Probably not because it's a second order statement
Well we’d probably be using V(S) type stuff
Yeah you'll need to use a lot of *'s in your transfer
So we can reason about iterated power set elements first order
At least it’s certainly s-compact for uhh open cover by standard opens
Closed is second order, bounded is first order with parameters from N, compact is second order
I think
Well you can get some wacky things once you’re doing nonstandard universes hmm

Anything you’d get extra in B_N(*a) would be things that aren’t normal looking anyway
Anyway this would always be larger than you’d care for when using ultrafilters that have saturation
As in, larger than you have saturation

did you
you did
🙀
what do you do when you have existential crisis
when you don't have one but feel like it

idk
please request a new nickname
but shouldn't it be
$$ \abs{a} = \sqrt{a_x^2 + a_y^2}$$
please request a new nickname
tldr
same
Anyone who wants to watch a movie from the Bible with me, through watchtogether link, maybe you will like it
(I know overarrow is prob not a tex command but idk the real one)
$$\vec{d}$$
please request a new nickname
Anyway it seems a is the magnitude of \vec{d}
a is the magnitude
a vector is an instance of the villain in Despicable Me

Uhm, would anyone know of a transformation of the whole R²-plane that collapses two points to a given third one, and leaves the rest relatively unchanged?
This happens inside a disk, the neighborhood gets altered but at infinity it doesn't do anything
So it basically collapses a V-shape of the plane into the tip of the V
I managed to do it in 1D, but it's easy x')
^
Here it collapses the points x=+/-a to the origin
such an overcomplicated way to write max(0, |x|-a) * sgn(x)
Lemme check!
That doesn't work
No that does I'm stupid
Thanks for that xD
But yeah, now I'd like this on the plane
Even something that resembles vaguely this, and collapses three points to a common fourth one is fine!
Okay I'm gonna do something crude:
- map a triangle to a disk
- apply the map z->z*|z|^n for larger and larger n, except do id outside the disk
- profit?
just do it
?
for some a,b,c let f : R² → R²
f(a) = f(b) = c
for x ≠ a,b : f(x) = x
Yeah well I didn't say it but I'd like something continuous obviously...
I'm not dumb enough to not have thought of this
oh you don't mean completely unchanged?
What I'm searching for is some (continuous) transformation that 'pinches' three points together
They seem to want it to be closer to normal as you get further out
Yes!
But certainly not in the disk itself
.
Their 1d one is asymptotically the identity tho
let D be the closed disc with a,b,c on the boundary, let k be its centre, and let r be its radius
define f as such
for x in D, f(x) = 0
for x not in D, f(x) = (x-k)*(d(x,k) - r)
basically squeezes a disk to the origin
@hard oasis
Yeah, it works x') I mean, it's a discussion channel so I didn't go into details, but I'd need something less crude
It's okay though, I'm trying to make this method work, I think I'm onto something!
my one is just the generalisation of your original one
for 1d
kinda
modulo some translation
I was about to say if treating points as vectors is ok I think $f(x) = x +(p-x)*max(e^{-||x-x1||},e^{-||x-x2||})$ works, but I'm not sure that's continuous
Where p is the point you want to converge to, and x1,x2 are the points you want to move to p

make sure no one else gets there before you
what would like
be the opposite of a circle?
instead of each point being like
the same distance away
the set of points not equidistant from a point?
so just the set of points not on the circle
yes but the mathematical opposite
i guess im looking for something abstracty
I mean that seems fairly mathematical to me
opposite of set X = the set of things not in X
what other definitions for a circle exist
like there are 2 explanations for exponents and stuff
which ends up making the paradox of 0^0
ball
ball is 3d circle
ball
maybe like psuedosphere or gabriels horn?
the 2d curve with constant curvature?
or some sort of fractal
maybe
to be honest i dont know what answer im looking for
I mean those aren't really related to circles but uhhhh
both are
well
a psuedo sphere is like
a reverse circle
what does that mean
no it’s like a reverse sphere
because it has negative constant curvature I guess?
well you can’t even have negative curvature in 2d apparently
actually you can
but a curve of negative constant curvature in 2d is still a circle
Dot prouct = number
cross product = vector
?
Does anyoen understand any of this
right-hand rule. Place the vectors a→ and b
→ tail to tail without altering their
orientations, and imagine a line that is perpendicular to their plane where they
meet. Pretend to place your right hand around that line in such a way that your
fingers would sweep a→ into b
→ through the smaller angle between them. Your out-
stretched thumb points in the direction of c→
why are they using right handi n one and left hand in other?
oh wait
no, both look like right hand to me
bro i got a scientific calculator and its stuck in sci math idk what that is. For example when i do 9 x 3 i get 2.70000000000x10^1
Go to setup, then number format and pick normal.
I have a Casio fx-991EX and that's what I do.
i found out
for me its
shift + mode setup
then
normal
and number 2
You got 991ES?
I see.

Anyone know the difference between How to Prove It 2e and 3e? Looks like 3e adds some number theory stuff but I’m scared it’ll have less problems
?
Oh the book?
Im sure they write about differences between editions at the beginning
If you want to preview the book use google books
do you guys ever experience this: rarely while falling asleep or before waking up, i hallucinate the stuff i would be seeing. it doesn't exactly come into vision, i just have a strong awareness of those objects in my field of view. i know it's not me actually seeing those stuff because sometimes i open my eyes and it turns out some stuff was in the wrong place.
Yes
Im not sure how common this is but it happens to people
Happens all the time to me
Like last night
I think you have to be somewhat aware of this happening to recognize it
Because id say it happens to me everytine im falling asleep
But sometimes im too tired to become conscious again and snap out of it, so i fall asleep
These are called hypnagogic(while falling asleep) and hypnopompic(while waking up) hallucinations.
They aren't too uncommon
ye
Useless names damn
its prob. useful to people who need to talk about it over and over
That used to happen to me when it's dark
i looked it up and im not concerned now, but i am still impressed by the sensation
"Went away" when I just stopped thinking about it and focused on something else
Of course they are useless, O arbiter of usefulness of names
I get the same feeling randomly sometimes
Sometimes I am thinking about something rly hard and it happens
But its not as vivid
no color, no brightness, just depth
if i had to make an artistic representation of it i'd use a black background and each object would have faint blue edges
Maybe those are just imaginations
how hard do you think lol
This is rare tho
I can’t remember last time it happened
When I was rock climbing it would happen sometimes
I wouldnt climb but I would think about what I would need to do without moving but im p sure its just an imagination
Not hallucination if there is difference
lol the wikipedia page for hypnagogia mentions rock climbing by coincidence
Wtf?
For example, Robert Stickgold recounts having experienced the touch of rocks while falling asleep after mountain climbing.
Oh okay then this happens to me too often
It is rarely cohesive though
Im talking about while awake but tired/not moving
How would you describe yourself in 3 words
i really don't know how to answer this question tbh
if its just like looking at a specific section of my life it'd be answerable, but not on the whole
Oo these are positive ones! I am glad
Hmm, it’s more like about the personality as a whole. Or what section would you recommend
“I demand bread”
What kind of bread
how i view myself at school? uh funny, and now i realize i literally cannot come up with any other personality trait (not just limting myself to positive ones) that you can't argue for either side
I feel like I might be, but not sure
The first question wasn’t why but which kind
Oh that’s a good example. At school. Do you mean you would say the 3 as you already said?
Exactly… you can mean so much by a bread, it might not even be a bread
another seems to be "indecisive"
Oh, about particular things or overall
the "smart, beautiful, talented, and humble" was a joke
Oh no, why does it have to be a joke
Furthermore it’s a demand
cause its four words, and the person who said the joke is presumably not humble because they had to go over the three word limit just to fit in humble in there
People usually don’t demand a bread so that’s why I thought you mean something deeper by the statement
Oh haha, yeah. Why are you not humble
also "talented" seems to work pretty nonambiguously
funny, indecisive, talented; i have gathered enough words
never said im not humble
to the person who just so trued me
yum yum, plus demanding tribute
may God forgive you 🙏
Mhmm
David, David and ||David||
lol
Oh you must like your name
yes
I just texted that because nothing came to my mind
lol
Haha, why don’t you think of your characteristic traits
oh um laziness?
Maybe like in a family, how do you behave there
Haha, yeah, could be
lazily
Haha.
Oh, that’s interesting. Yes it certainly does
You hate to eat fish ?
You hate economics at school?
No I hate learning about fish 🐟 I'd rather learn phishing
partly
Hmm, why don’t you find interest to learn about fish, are they boring to you?
yes
Maybe you learn just about the ones that live in ponds? If you search on YouTube about the most interesting fish, you will be surprised how amazing they are
maybe but i doubt 🤷♂️
Yeah I hear you. I like to watch documentaries of the sea world! So I have some confident you would find at least one enjoyable to learn about
r u indian?
just asking
Hmm I am not, are you
no
Why Indian
Did you mean fishing cause phising is a criminal offence?
name ig
Oh, no I am from Europe.
However David is common in Europe too, in Asia like Israel too, in America I guess as well. So I don’t know
Maybe he knows some
oh
Mhm
discussy is dead xb
ok
Why do you have time to be here
I read from twelve to six and use discord.py from 6-9 while I chat
Oh what do you read? What’s discord.py
I study math physics chemistry english geometry biology
discord.py is package in python (discontinued) used in aking discord bots
Wow, how could you call yourself lazy when you have such a great time management
Thank you for explanation
because I am
np
I thought lazy people can’t get to work, or learn
But you read from twelve to six..
there are grades of laziness from 0 to richard waterson
Haha. Do you watch animated movies ?
YEAH somtimes
Is the one on your profile important to you
yes
That’s nice… because of his character ?
yeah
Is he positive or negative character
middle
@glad phoenix his name is senku
That’s not a bad name. What do you appreciate the most about his character
his Intelligence
Mhm. That’s actually a nice thing to “desire”. How can one become intelligent?
acqusition of knowledge
Yes that’s actually true! What’s the best source of knowledge
Mhm yeah, that’s a good answer. Do animated characters believe in God
Idk they do not exist in the real world so I ... Idk
Yeah.. I saw many people trying to wear clothes like them. Can be dangerous to watch too much of it?
yeah
Yeah I also think so
Once I watched an anime, I did not know it before, but I was too emotional because the way it’s done is just interesting so I had to stop
oh
Yeah..
Dr.stone is nice tho
Oh I don’t know that one!
What time do you usually go to sleep
why did you ask?
not to be rude just asking
Oh because soon I go sleep haha and wondered what time other people can be falling asleep
oh 11pm
,ti
The current time for ishigamisenku_ is 08:54 PM (WAT) on Wed, 16/08/2023.
2+ hrs left
Ooh, yeah me too, but now it’s 10pm and I am always feeling sleepy
Oh you can use discord “password” well
nah i just saw someone doing that L
Oh haha, wonderful!
gn then
Thank you! Gn to you too
U mean cosplay? Yeah, it's a thing
@split pawn how do i draw vectors in desmos?
would it just use point slope formula and limit the domain?
?
I have a thing for it

had anybody have heard off AMC 8?
I use parametric equations and limit the domain
But both work
AMC theaters?
Like
the 8th AMC theater

use like A+t(B-A)
How does one stick to a schedule? I have lost all resemblance of a schedule in my daily life over the summer and I ought to get that shit together before uni starts again lol
is position always notated as $$\vec{r}$$ when talking about vectors?
One person
do you wake up and go to sleep at roughly the same time?
Give or take 2 hours yeah
I color the days in my excel calendar in which I was roughly following my schedule
makes me feel bad seeing a streak of uncolored days
I would also like to know
idk u guys were in school longer than me lol
but at the beginning of the semester I’d print out my class schedule, and plan out what time to wake up and eat, as well some important activities like studying
it doesn’t all have to be scheduled but like
as long as you have a skeleton for your day I guess. that’s how I did it
but that’s also slightly pertaining to “academic planning” which I’m not sure whether or not that’s your goal
hello humans
Yeah that's what I was thinking of doing roughly, like planning which books/classes I'll work on throughout each day
Otherwise there's no chance I'll be able to keep up with everything I'd like to do next year lmao
I have gotten this far by just winging it and that will not work going forward lmao, I need structure
Hey, how are you?
in high school?
no I dropped out of college in the middle of undergrad and they are in grad school or preparing for it
oh I see
Hm I see
I guess there is kind of a spectrum when it comes to winging it. Some classes i never studied, some classes I just needed to make sure to plan to review it for 15 or 30 minutes on the same day before class. but that was for easy stuff like undergrad humanities where you just have to memorize a bit. for more in depth classes I guess you really need to plan out blocks of time to “study”, like for real
for me, because I studied music in undergrad, the closest thing I had to that was practice sessions and music analysis, which was something I definitely had to plan to make time for every day. but I didn’t necessarily plan every last detail. at the beginning of practice I would just look at my upcoming deadlines and see what needed to be ready by next Thursday etc.
trying to plan out every last detail in advance could potentially be tiresome, and you might not even know what you need to study before next week. Idk how grad school works or how structured it is though. I assume some of it is a bit more open ended than undergrad?
that’s like more of a last resort to me
of course there are long term projects and you need to think about that more on a rolling basis though
Yeah that's fair that it definitely is case by case for the class. I guess I'm just concerned that my poor habits will catch up to me or that I'l laze out of doing stuff
I definitely will not keep up with it if I micromanage, I just need to figure out the right balance that (a) is productive and (b) not overbearing
indeed, I sort of wonder if it’s worse to overshoot or undershoot here lol
probably overshooting a bit is better
I laze about too much
I can no longer talent my way through classes
what’s the hardest math class you talented through in undergrad?
uhh I mostly talented through real analysis 2. Complex analysis 2 was a bit less talent, that shit confused me for a while lmao
actually what year are you in, are you just starting grad school?
and there are 2 analysis classes for each of real and complex? damn
last year of UG
yeah mine had RA1 just real functions, RA2 general metric spaces. CA1 mostly basic holomorphic functions and CA2 stuff like harmonic functions, univalent functions, montel/schawrz/riemann mapping theorems, etc
man @fringe summit was making fun of me cuz I didn’t know darboux’s theorem
I only took up to linalg in college
I did like 3 chapters of baby rudin on my own time
I havent taken a good CA class
which is to say, you took CA but it was bad?
No I took baby intro class
ah
consequences of talent lol
I say this and then I see HS students doing p-adics and quadratic forms and shit
i hate theorem names
real
(------)'s theorem
Ilum doing p-adic analysis but couldn't handle a determinant
I'm not thinking of Ilum lmao, I'm thinking of someone I've actually met like that
But also Ilum
I'd say plas but
Hey no making fun of users
friendly jestering. We all have our moments
we just bein a lil silly, theyre gonna be way more successful than I ever could
that’s cuz u study cursed set theory instead of interstellar travel

guess who else would have been in last year ug rn
honestly yeah

I think I did CA more than RA
I'm a CA addict
real analysis can’t hurt me
See, I thought I liked analysis because of my RA2 class, but now I think I just liked the topology aspect lmao
I guess I'll see in functional analysis and measure theory
topology was indeed my favorite part of baby rudin, at least the little of it that I did (though I think it was mostly metric spaces?)
functional analysis is based tho. I mean how cool is it to just take a holomorphic function and apply it to a linear operator like the derivative
(I don’t have the knowledge to prove that that’s valid but apparently that’s a thing)
hey! can sb help me with calculating arcsech(x)?! i have calculated:
ln(1/x +-((1-x^2)^0.5)/x)
but the solution says only + is true.... may sb say why? i have same problem for calculating arccsch(x).
thx a billion!!

i had a dream once where i was pregnant but had to hide this from the hospital because they'd be mad at me if they found out
that was pretty weird
i've also had the "oh fuck i forgot to go to class for an entire semester" dream more than once including fairly recently and i haven't been a student for over 25 years
i also had a dream onec where i managed to get a master's degree that felt so real that it took me a while to convince myself that i hadn't actually done so
oh sure i've skipped lots of classes, but that's not the same as "what? i signed up for that class? how?"
there was even one dream where i somehow managed to go to medical school for a whole year before th dream ended
which is wtf i never wanted to to go medical school
Guys I am going to run 5 km after leg day tommorow (Will I hurt my legs or can you still do it?)
5km is not a lot
lol
Our pe teacher made us run 6.5 km in 30 mins
No water
thats not much either lol
body is also surprisingly good at conserving water
just drink before and/or after
Not if you’re as unathletic as me
same i dont run often i suck at cardio
hmm
well, its not inhumane after all
though in the direct sun for long time might be bad unrelated to water consumption
its so hot this weekend and i want to walk 60km 😦

i am so happy for you
6.5km in 30 minutes is kind of difficult
I have a hard time believing that the average mathematician can do 6.5km in 30 minutes
Therefore, I don’t think loch would be able to do it(by statistics)
i actually dont know if i can
i dont really do running
i walk with weight of ~12kg and i do 7km/h on average for multiple hours
i extrapolate and say 6.5km in 30 mins is easy
the moment i started learning AG my hair is getting thinner
is this a sign
i am him

bro thinks he is him
Time to learn AG
@zealous garden
damn bro you're thin
I also walked home from school in HS
I forgot to mention im terminally ill
And walking is an olympic level feat due to my condition
sorry to hear that home slice, I can relate in some ways. hope it gets better
Based
Based!!
?
Did you not do that because you read my profile?
yes I pinged you because I read your profile
It was joke
To one up loch
._.
They said uphill both ways which is obviously a joke
PragerU
my act score is good enough
look at their math department websites
vanderbilt is like my school of choice, but its very… selective
see what classes they offer
how do i know its good tho?
pretty great for medicine
some colleges looked really good, but certain departments were lacking.
according to students
it's good if they offer a variety of electives
so many decisions
like for colleges not electives
and look at undegraduate math programs
alr
My college is okay at math but doesn't have a lot of programs for math ppl
Ik unis like Tufts has math modelling contests
You could try Boston Uni
They're great at comp sci and math
and i can do computer science but its fairly difficult
like literally mathematics lol
And concentrate in an area
yeah like there's a math major
which isn't applied or pure
Just math
UG generally you don't specify beyond maybe applied or pure
Yeah unless you're in waterloo
You may, of course, have specialized interests in the courses you take, but this distinction is not made in your degree usually
well that's a UW moment
they have a whole degree type called bachelors in math
none of this shit makes sense
I looked at their classes
Looks interesting but
the whole BMath degree is kinda bs
Like it was unnecessary
Upside is a huge set of classes to choose from
what can i do with a degree
work in the industry as a consultant or software engineering
Those are probably the popular routes for math majors
Or go to gradschoo
Get a masters in data science
but like
oh that
is that a good idea?
thats that one college in pennsylvania right
maybe i could get a dual major with something math related
idk if i can afford a masters unless i get like a full ride
C in athletics B in math

Nice
what GPA would be good?
3.5 or up is solid
aight i got like a 4.1 aiming for a 4.2
3.9 if you wanna get into competitive ones
wait unweighted
unweighted I meant

let me check it unweighted
ill have to check later
its probably like a 3.6
pr 3.7
but aight
if i can i might send an application
good idea
ok gn
gn
Ugh I've finally hit a math course where I don't understand a proof (HS Linear Algebra) and I've been trying to get it for probably about 2 hours now and I've tried to just like give up and move on but I can't stop thinking of the proof and just going back to it and staring at it
How do I just like move on from the problem, because I can't focus on my other homework without having finished the proof
damn I wish my high school taught linear algebra
did you make any progress or are you just staring at the page at this point
I've made like 3 steps in and have been staring at it
occasionally trying to do something different but it never goes anywhere
do u mind sharing the proof? I’m curious
Or the problem
Given 3 points (x_1,y_1) (x_2,y_2) and (x_3,y_3) that all lie on the parabola ax^2+bx+c. Show that the coefficients a, b, and c are solutions given that the augmented matrix is
Row 1: x_1^2 x_1 1 y_1
Row 2: x_2^2 x_2 1 y_2
Row 3 x_3^3 x_3 1 y_3
it wouldn't let me post an image but thats the problem
also i dont know latex so thats a rip lol
oh that’s neat
and its our first day so like we definetly are starting off running lol
do you know the relationship between an augmented matrix and a system of linear equations?
I mean, literally speaking, you do have that ax_1^2 + bx_1 + c = y_1
i know that its just the addition signs missing
Since they lie on the parabola right
yeah
So clearly they work as solutions
i have it in my proof where im at that the rows are equal to that represenation of y
In that plugging them in works
I don't know how to show that because they are coeffecients in the y represenation that it means they are solutions
