If you just want to make a big clock display you should be able to just wire up some smaller clocks and adders/counters for most of the work.

Each digit on the display is n modulo some value.

When you wrap around to 0 you want to increment the next adder/counter

Something vaguely like that

For ex a display for a minute/hour clock you just need two mod 60 counters. One for minutes one for seconds. Whenever the seconde clock adds from 59 back to 0 you want to increment the minute clock.

Once you rig up adders/counters like this in a way that works you ought to be able to use some kind of encoder/decoder type set up to flip the actual clock display segments in whatever arrangement you need

You can look up tutorials on building mod n counters online. For ex https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/design-mod-n-synchronous-counter/.
