What the hell am I doing here?
$\log_a{\frac{b}{c}}$
What the hell am I doing here?

Hello I have this question
@keen sandal how will you prove x is a real number
bud idk
It's a crime in the world of maths
exactly
I amn't doing that, just using simple algebra
If you cannot prove x is a real number, you simply cannot do normal algebra on it
you cant divide by zero in simple algebra
in fact in any corner of math you can't do that
If you can prove x is a real number then yes 0/0=0
What kind of normal algebra
And sadly I have been to jail 100 times coz of it
you are not alone my mate
wait he says he has a few question about iota aswell
So, i am just accompanying you in this crime
he asks is it legal to keep i in the denominator
@open mica @keen sandal so ur trying to prove 0/0=0 right?
not me ik thats something i should not waste my time on
it's fine
@alpine sable yes
1/i = -i
he asks how
But
hes too slow to type so i do
U didn't prove x is a real number
lmao
It is, x = 2x and the only solution to it is 0
That is why u can't do normal algebra on it
X is not a real number
normal algebra won't work
Just like in the case of imaginary numbers
are you trying to say there is a way still?
There is no way 0/0=0
tan(90) = undefined
so its useless?
U can't say so if ur a math enthusiastic like me it gets kind of fun
but u will either end up
With something
Very interesting
Or something
Pure nonsense
like 1+2+3+..............=-1/12?
When u will be working with intermedinant form
It's not nonsense
It is the ramanujan paradox
It's the analytic continuation of zeta function
It's done carefully
That's why it's interesting
But I once proved e=0 it was nonsense basically

you can't combine roots like that if one of the terms is negative, like from the 2nd bit to the 3rd bit
yes thats very interesting indeed
Imaginary numbers are nicely defined such that it doesn't contradict our original defintions.
he asks what you mean by bit?
Unlike 0/0
$\frac{\sqrt{1}}{\sqrt{-1}} \neq \sqrt{\frac{1}{-1}}$
iCaird
I asked the same question 1 week ago
About imaginary numbers
I remember
dang
Why is isn't it possible?
Imaginary have their own set of rules
By which we ** define ** them
Such that
We can get something
Actually usefull
$\sqrt {a}\sqrt {b} \neq \sqrt{ab}$
Frustrated Cat
In the imaginary world
It's their rule
Becauss without it
it won't be usefull
To us
iff both a and b are of oppositer signs
That's why i said " In the imaginary world"
man hes getting confused
If it is not possible then how are we able to find out the roots of negative numbers
We have a defined system for them
Complex and imaginary numbers
Which we don't have for 0/0
Because defining it won't be useful
To us
he says your profile pic looks scary

dw i wasted 7 hours of time arguing with a stranger on the internet
And finally understood it

if ab= ac = 10cm what is perimeter of ebf
but it's ba and bc =10
yeah
are you sure that ae=em
and by this you mean ae=5?
think like that
AE + EB = AB
but AE = EM
so, EM + EB = AB
no
similarily complete the other half of the triangle
so 10 + 10 will be your answer
but why ae=em
because they are originating from the same point and are both tangents to the circle
its a property
yes know i remember
so you understood?
you don't even need to know that
see this once again
this leads to em= ab-eb = 10-eb
okay, lets do this again...
tell me , do you understand that EB + EM is the same as EB + EA which is 10?
i understand eb=em since em=ae
EB != EM
then maybe you understood the whole solution?
but i'm extremly confused now
-_-
so this is it?
right
thanks a lot
welcome XD

How do I solve this
solve what?
the question?
In the following figure, angle GEF measures 70˚. What is the measure of the angle GHF?
^^
Yea thanks
Yay high school Spanish!
oh yeah, maybe i could lol. didn't even read before ranting
so imagine GF is a chord
Lmao - it be like that
and then by property angles at circumference from the same chord are equal
I'm kind of stupid but I don't really understand
I understand the chord part
?
Anyone know how to solve this?
Do you know?
Nvr mind thanks :)

help
You have to wait at least 15 minutes before pinging helpers
i did _))
No you didn't
Does it matter
Yes, because there are rules
Wtf is a kg wt
Follow the rules
Just kg
Sorry for that
A kg is a unit of mass
yea gooddd
A "kg wt" appears to be used as a unit of force
It really does
ok it's mentioned that they are 3 forces
so it's of course unit of force
can u solve it anyways
What can you say about R
According to this https://byjus.com/question-answer/what-is-the-meaning-of-the-notation-kgwt-please-give-an-example-too/, 1 kg wt is the force needed to give a mass of 1kg an acceleration of g m/s^2 where g is the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the earth, which is 9.80655 m/s^2
I know the damn answer
lol
and the explanation as well yet I don't understand why there was a 150 degree angle
Can someone explain
Because the 150 degree was given
It's in the diagram as given info
Blocking people who don't follow rules makes life way better
I said I was sorry
Uhmm in another website the diagram wasn't given
Still kinda bothers me that you can still see the blocked messages, as hidden
You get used to it after like 5
what question
uhmm
what a question
What an answer

Can u PLEASE answer the question 🥲
It's exactly 9 messages above my message
Probably one scroll would be enough to see it
how can someone answer the question 'Uhmm in another website the diagram wasn't given' like what do u want us to say
and you stated that you know the answer and the explanation
well
see
It's confusing
but in the other website the 150 degree angle is not mentioned
which means there could be a way to calculate it
I was just wondering if u know that way
what website
BYJUS
send link
What
send a screenshot of the question at that website
Thanks anyways, We live in a society😢 💔
I hope u don't answer the question anyways

P is a prime number, P≥5
"Prove that P≅1[3]"
It says I can use Fermat theorem, which says a^(p-1)≅1[p] {p doesn't divide a and p is prime}
I started with p²≅1[3]
Took that 1 to the left
It became p²-1≅0[3]
Then (p+1)(p-1)≅0[3]
So that means
p≅1[3] or p≅-1[3]
Idk how to get rid of second possibility
vin100
@proper tangle there's another condition i forgot to mention
Whatever n in N*
n²+n+1≅0[p]
Apologizes
no worries
what if n is a multiple of p
so $1 \equiv 0 \pmod{p}$ which doesnt make much sense...
Takumi
The condition applies on both ig
So if it is a multiple it doesn't account for that
well, ignoring that, we get that $p\mid (n-1)(n^2+n+1)=n^3-1$, so $n^3 \equiv 1 \pmod{p}$ so the order of n mod p must divide 3 but this means that it is either 1 or 3 but since this holds for all n, it must hold for an $n\not\equiv 1 \pmod{p}$ so for that $n$ we must have that the order of n mod p is 3 which implies that $3\mid p-1$ so $p\equiv 1 \pmod{3}$
Takumi
Why does "the order of n mod p must divide 3"
do you know what the order is?
No
the order of a mod p is defined to be the least integer n such that $a^n \equiv 1 \pmod{p}$
Takumi
Ohhh
Didn't study that
Makes it simpler
Takumi
this just comes from writing m=kn+r where r<n
I see
and by fermat's $a^{p-1} \equiv 1 \pmod{p}$ as you mentioned
Takumi
so the order of a mod p divides p-1

Hello. Does absolute value in integral affect integrating rules somehow or do I just take it into account when assigning values in definite integral? Like for example is integral of (1 - |y|)dy still y-|y^2/2|?
It does. In general you can't get rid of it unless you know the function's sign to know when to use + or -. An example of it mattering would be that of sin t dt over a large interval

How do I use substitution in this equation
u have to use subsitution?
yes
:/
lets get y on both sides
x = 3 + y
2x = -3 + y
x - 3 = y
2x + 3 = y
then u can sub
Substitution isn't typically setting them equal to each other
It's taking one equation and plugging it into the other
x = 3 + y
sub x into the second equation :
2(3+y) - y = -3
solve for y
once you find y solve for x
Don't do the work for people
ok sawri
hmm check that again
yes after you found y
use that to find x
yes now that you have y you can easily solve for x
then just 2x + 9 = -3
use the first equation since you have x already isolated
x + 9 = 3
ye carry on
so then x = - 6
yes

is there a mathematical formula/proof for this?
You don't know the formula of the variance ?
it's probability of something times( x - mean) squared
and added tgt
that's the summation formula righttt?
however for like var(3x+4) it becomes 9var(x) so is there like a formula for this?
shld I send the previous parts of the qn?
yes yes
$V(X^2 - 2) = E((X^2 - 2)^2) - (E(X^2 - 2))^2$
Herels
$V(X^2 - 2) = E(X^4 - 4X^2 + 4) -(E(X^2) - 2)^2$
Herels
$V(X^2 - 2) = E(X^4) - 4E(X^2) + 4 - (E(X^2))^2 + 4E(X^2) - 4$
Herels
$V(X^2 - 2) = E(X^4) - (E(X^2))^2$

I've been trying to form a neat compact binomial form, but
I'm just not sure how to go about it...
Yeah, probably better
And use that x+i=sqrt(x^2+1)e^(iθ)
Where θ=arccos(x/(sqrt(x^2+1))
So t_0-t_2+t_4…=(x^2+1)^(50)cos(100θ), t_1-t_3+t_5…=(x^2+1)^(50)sin(100θ). So what you are looking for is sum of their squares, which is (x^2+1)^(100)

if $0<x<\frac{1}{2}$, then $\floor{x}=0$
秋水
if $x<0$, then $\floor{x}+4x<0$
秋水
I still don't get it
you can simplify it in different intervals
if $0 \leq x < \frac{1}{2}$, then $\floor{x}=0$, $\floor{x}+4x=4x=1$, so $x=\frac{1}{4}$
秋水
if $x<0$, then $\floor{x}+4x<0$, so $\floor{x}+4x \neq 1$
秋水
do you get it now?
Yeah, I get it now. Also, I was kinda confused while writing both the cases.
Why did you write 0 <= x< 1/2 ?
because you wrote x<1/2 before
Is it wrong?
not wrong, because you want to simplify abs(2x-1)
I just don't understand why you wrote 0<=
because when 0<=x<1, floor(x)=0;
when -1<=x<0, floor(x)=-1;
......
then you don't have floor sign
Ahh I'm still confused 😀
In mathematics and computer science, the floor function is the function that takes as input a real number x, and gives as output the greatest integer less than or equal to x, denoted floor(x) or ⌊x⌋. Similarly, the ceiling function maps x to the least integer greater than or equal to x, denoted ceil(x) or ⌈x⌉.For example, ⌊2.4⌋ = 2, ⌊−2.4⌋ = −...
this is the plot of floor function, right? you can discuss it on [n,n+1)
I'm not sure what cases are to be made while considering |2x-1|
|2x-1| = 2x-1 (when x>=1/2), 1-2x (when x<1/2)
Why is there an = sign in the 1st case but not in the 2nd one?
Yeah, I got it now.
But I don't understand this.
On what basis are we writing this? Where did 0=<x<1/2 come from?😀
because I want to simplify floor(x), so I need discuss it on [0,1),[1,2),[2,3),...[-1,0),[-2,1)...like this
I still don't understand this but you've helped me more than enough so I'll just skip this question 😀

so i am solving this problem about rates of change and rectilinear motion in calculus. we are given the function s(t) where t is in hours and s(t) is in kilometers. do i have to convert it into seconds? or is it okay to be in hours?
I think you will have to judge it based on previous problems.

How can I write 13 (c) as a binomial distribution?
while would you want that ? Also I believe that in the binomial distribution, order must not matter, and here it clearly does, so that isn't appropriate
Oh ok because this question is in a worksheet specifically for binomial distribution so I was wondering if it’s even possible for question 13 (c)

I wouldn't be surprised. Usually exercises are centered around the topic of interest, but obviously not every question has to be related/use it. Having a few unrelated questions here and there isn't really surprising

I need help
The area
Do you know the formula
44m
go on
15m
ok cool
area = 1/2(44)(15)
just plugging those in
then simplify
so what would be the answer
Idk
solve this lol area = 1/2(44)(15)
How?
$$1/2(44)(15)$$
Chunkin
simplify this

i’m a bit lost on this problem
i’m also not sure if my drawing is correct
i know the corner on the bottom left is 30
and top left is 30 (given in the question)
show me
oh mb lol
all good
no?
hi cedric
nah the right angle should be 30
wait angle with the ground
not top one
mb
hello
and the top left is 60?
ye
use cosine to find the side at the ground
1/2*12=6 (using cos60)
yeah
well just use cos(30) * hypotenuse

Is 0 = 0 infinite solution or no solution (i forgot)
whats the context?
probably infinite
So is that infinite?
im guessing they mean that they have solved some simultaneous equations or something and ended up with 0=0 instead of a proper solution so they want to know if the equations have no solution or infinitely many
Yeah
Ok thanks
uhm not really, you can have like 2x + y = 3 and 4x + 2y = 6 which if you tried to solve would get you 0=0 or 6=6 or something similar which means they have infinite solutions
well ofc i am making the assumption that they didnt just multiply by 0 everywhere to come up with 0=0

Julian is a manager at a clothing store for teens. He is analyzing the order for next season. Data for the previous 10 years suggests that teens are willing to spend an average of $75 for a pair of designer jeans with a standard deviation of $5. However, Julian thinks the average may have changed due to a recession. He finds that the last three seasons of data show that teens spent an average of $68 on a pair of jeans. Therefore, he performed a hypothesis test to see if the recent average is the same. Julian used a significance level of 5% to perform the test. Which of the following statements is valid based on the results?
A. Julian’s data shows that the recent seasons’ average jean price is not $75.
B. Julian’s data shows that he should order fewer jeans than before.
C. Julian’s data shows that the recent seasons’ average jean price is still $75.
D. Julian’s data is inconclusive, so he should order the same number of jeans.

hey my work is in code but I'll try to explain it as much as I can:
I'm looking to rotate a 3D object around a pivot point , I'm currently testing this in the X axis but going wrong somewhere in my maths.
Step 1: I get my pivot point
Step 2: I get how much ill be rotating by
Step 3: I turn my rotation into a quaternion
Step 4: I take away the pivot point from the objects location
Step 5: I then create a matrix by translating to the pivot , then multiplying the rotation then finally translating by the value I got from minusing the point from the object location
when this is put together I just end up with all objects rotating on their own centre

idk how I can solve this
yes
use the pyta theorem on the 1st triangle of the row
and u will get the hypotenuse
oh so that would make that hypotenuse sqrt of 2
ok i'll solve that later. What about 17?
wait okay, for 16 I got x = root 17
is that correct
wait no nvm i did something wrong
root 5 is the answer
👍
for 17 what properties would I use to solve for AC

Are there easier way to do bii?
All minus none
We do not want the committee to contain:
(1) just one doctor + 4 others,
(2) just one dentist + 4 others,
(3) 5 others (no docs and dentists)
we find the number of ways of selecting these undesired committees
and subtract them from all the ways of selecting the committee
Ohh ok let me try
I don’t think I did it correctly

just to check its correct?
It’s not right, could someone show me the working ?
okay so i think id do like this
one doctor, one dentist, first off
so 3 slots left
then we can choose a remaining 5*2*6 possible members
there are 6*3 ways to choose this initial pair
dont suppose you have the answer?
,calc 65236
Result:
1080
alternatively
$\qty( \binom 6 1 \cdot \binom 3 1 ) \cdot \binom{ (6-1)+(3-1)+7 }{ (5-2) }$
jan Niku (@pomodoro role)
$\qty( \binom 6 1 \cdot \binom 3 1 ) \cdot \binom{ (6-1)+(3-1)+7 }{ (5-2) }$
@fossil mason does this help?
im not certain this is the correct answer but i believe it is
,w 6c1 * 3c1 * 14c3

this is incorrect
i believe this is the correct approach
I get 6552 on a calculator
6*3*14c3
Why 7*(5-2)?
the top line of the last binomial coefficient is like
its all the possible remaining members
The answer is 2850 tho

hmmm
OH
its at least one doctor and exactly one dentist
not at least one doctor and at least one dentist
this is not immediately clear
$\qty( \binom 6 1 \cdot \binom 3 1 ) \cdot \binom{ (6-1)+7 }{ (5-2) }$
jan Niku (@pomodoro role)
,calc 220*18
Result:
3960
