Think about properties of p -> q like how when p is false then the entire statement is true.
Another strategy is to just completely make up a guess and see where it fails. This may help you gain some inspiration on how to improve your guess until the truth tables completely match

After writing a lot of proofs (im in my 4th year of math major) you understand this more.

I donāt think that is true for most people. Sometimes people have rough foundations and fixing that can be harder than just learning from scratch.
I believe though if you use the right resources, have good teachers, and do things smart, almost anyone can get good at an undergraduate level of math.
I do have rough foundations, that's why I need to probably need to re do Calculus 1 but what foundations are needed for Discreet Math, it's a whole new Math starting fresh
