y’all I have a math assignment due tomorrow and I have no time tomorrow to do it and I’m so stressed. It’s markups/markdowns/percentages.
One question im struggling with is;
A medical insurance policy requires Ana to pu the first $100 of her hospital expense. The insurance company will pay 70% of the remaining expense. Ana is expecting a short surgical stay in the hospital for what she estimates the total bill to be about $4,300. How much, in $, of the total bill will Ana owe?
Hello.
Find the outstanding payment left after her initial payment of 100
Since the qn stated " The insurance company will pay 70% of the remaining expense. " , how much percentage will ana have to pay ?
30% of 4.2k
isnt it 30% of 4.2k then add 100
no
i will have to see if this helps in a bit as I am now incredibly sick on top of the 3 assignments I have to do before I can sleep
its 30 percent of 4.3k
oh wait
u have to subtract
the total bill by 100
So in total anna have to pay [100 + 30 percent of remaining

Find the surface area of a sphere whose volume is 97440mm³.
I ne3d help on this.
Do you know the formula for volume of a sphere?
Yeah
So you should be able to plug in your known volume to solve for the radius
Then once you have the radius, you should be able to solve for surface area
Must I convert the mm to cm or I should leave it be? @chilly condor
Sorry for ping 😅
I'd think leaving it in mm would be more appropriate
May I ask you one more question? @chilly condor
Sure thing
Find the volume of a cone if it's height is 7m and the perimeter of its base is 11m.
The base of a cone would be a circle, right?
It is a circle
It is 🙂 So it's a similar problem as the last one
If you know the formula for the perimeter (circumference) or a circle, you can put in your known value then solve for the radius
Then once you have the radius, you can use it to calculate the volume of the cone
I see
I'll try it 🙂
Ohhh I get it now
Tysmmm
But I have 1 last question
This is the final question I promise 😅
The circumference of a solid circular cylinder is 24cm, and its length is 44cm. Find its volume.
Is this question similar to the previous questions I had asked? @chilly condor
Sorry for ping again 😅😅
Hehe all good. Yep 🙂 Same thing

Have I done something wrong here?
Bc it says x-2 is a factor but when I substitute it for factorisation, it doesn't equal 0
Then you most likely have gotten a or b wrong, that would be my guess at least. Perhaps try solving it again? I’d also solve it, but can’t atm, unfortunately. But anyways, if x-2 is a factor without a remainder, f(2) must equal 0.
so if it doesn’t equal 0, you probably have done something incorrectly along the way
Yeah thanks. I'll try it again.
Alright, np!
Ah
I see what you got wrong
It was a tiny mistake…
a is meant to be +2, not -2…
so it was a tiny mistake at the very end, that’s sad…
@iron inlet
Ohhh thank you!!
Yeah, the main thing is that I get the process.

I'm confused
which part?
like I just forgot how to do this cause summer passed
what does it mean by finding intercepts
finding two points will be sufficient when graphing a straight line,
they want you to find and use the x and y intercepts
do you know what x and y intercepts are?
well yes
I'm just confused on how to find them idk
like what does the number 3 stand for
I just don't understand how they got this
thats the answer key
I just don't get it
how do I solve it to get to that
do you know what x and y intercepts are?
well yes
explain in your own words
ummm
like the point on the line
y interecept?
like the point on the line
IDK
yes, that would be the y-intercept
exactly so how do I find it then cause thats the answer key
do you know the equation of the y axis?
how on earth do I know x is 3 and y is 3 too
no
sooo
that's the slope intercept form of a non-vertical line
do you know the equation of the y axis?
try not to overthink
yes
to find the y-intercept, find the intersection point of
x=0 nd x+y=3
same idea
x = 0
and similarly, the equation of the x-axis is y=0, so use that for finding the x-intercept
can u like show me by texting me the step LOL
also why did you jump ahead to b) before even finishing a)
5(0)-3(0) = 15 ???
no
I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE HELP
oh.
or at least you haven't shown me that you were able to find the x and y intercepts algebraically here
ok
to find the y-intercept, find the intersection point of
x=0 nd x+y=3
yes
so then like how would i get x
your y intercept will be 3, giving the point (0,3)
and similarly, the equation of the x-axis is y=0, so use that for finding the x-intercept
ok
oh
so same thing but change a letter
x + 0 = 3
x = 3
ok got it
so can we do b) now
5x — 3y = 15
do i do same thing
wait let me try this
5(0) - 3y = 15
yes??
yes, so far that's ok
oh
continue
no
0-3y isn't 3y
so y = ?
what you want is for your equation to explicitly tell you what y is equal to
yes sooo
-y = 5
tells you what -y is, not y
🤣
it's like you didn't read what I said
don't overthink
I HAD BREAKDOWNS YESTERDAY
No y doesnt have to be positive
I UNDERSTAND BETTER WITH EXAMPLES / VISUAL STEPS
-y = 5
means
y = ?
Yes
yes. y = -5
don't overthink
same idea for the x-intercept
oh, edited
very good

hello can someone help me
can you put your question
is there a better image
Do you know the formula for the sum of a finite geometric series
What's your confusion
Do you think the sum is 80?
1-3 is -2
but I did mine positive 2
and I still got 400
so 3x3x3x3
-1
I divided it by 2
yes you're right
and then multiplied by 10
(a-b)/(c-d) = (b-a)/(d-c)
ohhhh thanks
If you multiply top and bottom by -1 you get that
It can be useful when manipulating an algebraic expression

hello, I need to verify if $\int_0^{\pi/2} \frac{f(\sin{x})}{f(\sin{x}) + f(\cos{x})}dx = \pi / 4$, and I am hinted that I should use the substitution $t = \pi /2 - x$, with which I got that the previous integral is equal to $-\int_0^{\pi/2} \frac{f(\cos{x})}{f(\sin{x}) + f(\cos{x})}dx$, but I'm not really sure what to do with that now
Spiwocoal
add the two integrals and you get 1

You can claim your own channel (see #❓how-to-get-help, people claim the help channels for themselves, not for them to be used by others)
- multiply numerator and denominator by the conjugate of the numberator in 2
- set h=0 prolly
it will become this
you should get $-\frac{2}{\sqrt{-2x+1}+\sqrt{-2x+1}}=-\frac{1}{\sqrt{-2x+1}}$, right?
lemme check that cause I don't trust my mental math lol
lol tyt
enclave wangedrocht
should work
No it would not because you're plugging in h = 0 into the 3rd expression
Not whatever expression that gave you -2/0
i did understand that part
but i dont get how did he do the algebra here tbh
OH
nvm i got it
Thank you both so much

H
Do you know what x intercepts mean?
yes
What?
when the line crosses the x axis
Yes
the 6,0 is a guess cuz I was utterly clueless
So you have a quadratic, hence you are given 2 intercepts.
ye
Sub the value of those intercepts, one at a time.
You should get 2 equations and 2 variables (a and q)
consider sum of roots

Hi
So i'm trying to figure out weather this is a function or not and the domain and range
for weather it's a function i have a feeling that weather or not in crosses the x axis has something to do with it but im not sure
also i'm trying to figure out how to see if its a function based off the eqaution alone
Do a vertical line test
i did
it's not a fucntion based off that
but how would i know from the equation
*it is a function i mean
I mean you just kinda know
facts
It stems from the parent function x^2
if it's raised to an exponent its a function?
Not necessarily
You just gotta recognize it's a function
Typically if only positive y can be isolated by itself, it's a function
But it's just a "just know" kinda thing
ok
Domain and range on those are also simple
what about the D and R?
Domain well
There's nothing that would make it go wrong
for X
For those.. domain would always be (-infinity,+infinity) if it goes on forever.
Umbraleviathan
Which is -infinity to infinity
-3
Is the quadratic opening up or down
up
Then the range is $y \geq -3$
Umbraleviathan
Pretty much yeah
ok thanks
Just make sure your R is boldfaced
ok

$(I-S)(I-S^{-1}S^{-1})(I+S)$
Maxerature
Where do I go from here? Simplifying down to the Identity matrix? S is skew-hermitian
I think if I'm doing this right, I can simplify to
$-(S^{-1})^{2}-S^{2}$
Maxerature
But I'm not sure how to get from here to the identity matrix

?
I had an open question then the bot randomly reopened the channel
How do I get from
$-(S^{-1})^{2}-S^{2}$
Maxerature
To the identity matrix
The bot closes when inactive
I posted less than a minute before it reopened it
opened it at 10:08, my last post was 10:07
regardless
I dont know whats that
:/
<@&286206848099549185>
Here's the original equation I'm trying to simplify btw
$[(I-S)^{-1}(I+S)]^{*}[(I-S)^{-1}(I+S)]$

What if it isn't indicated?
i dont think u have to

I need help with understanding this probability question
Im going to send it here
how do i answer 6ii?
How do I complete the q6
Or what topic can I revise to solve the q
venn diagram i think its called
I don’t think that is required for this q
Can I get someone who knows what to do to help?
No offence
oh..
What does that mean
U is union
Ok so instance where a and b are equal or something
Wait what’s the diff between two?
Ight nvm
still struglling with the q
i dont know whether to multiply the two or add them
the two probabilities
oh ok ill do tht
rectangle to indicate that is all probabilities
with universal symbol in corner of box
out it?
put*
ok so
how do i find the U
yes
ull notice what u get is
that part u have drawn
but the center part is counted twice right
so how will u account for that
what
the center part is the little pocket between a and b
how did u
if u multiply and b the value is0.3
so intersections are always dependen
no
it
depends on the Q
in this case they told u the probability of the intersection
so
u want to find
A U B
so
if u take the probability of A + the probability of B
which is known as the union?
u get this
yes
okokok
u get this, a and b bit, but with the centre bit counted twice
so how would u account for this center bit being counted twice
and maybe isnt rly
u kinda gave 2 answers
this is P(B)
this is P(A and B)
u want to find P(A or B)
'or' being the same as union
so i can minus the P(A) and P(b) from total union
huhhh
so i do P(A)+P(B)
then negative P(A) and P(B)which earlier i said was 0.3 for independent events but 0.4 for this case
oh ok
yep
thanks bro

how do i do 6ii
i know the notation is B given A right?
yea
so intersection 'over A
yes
so 6ii is 0.4/0.4?
oh my bad i meant to say 6iii
i got that for 6ii
but the remaining prob of B is 0.5
so it'll be union a and b divided by 0.4 which is A?
no im wrong
i think i have to redo the union of a and b as union of a and counter b
0.6+0.5=1.1-0.4
but that gives same value
yes
idk im lazy to calculate i hate those
yes
should just draw the table
so done
with drawing
i drew venn diagrams
just draw the diagram and find the region of P(~B) and then repeat for P(A) and see where they interesct
| A | A' |
--+-----+-----+----
B | 0.4 | ? | 0.5
--+-----+-----+----
B'| ? | ? | ?
--+-----+-----+----
| 0.6 | ? | ?
this table
makes life so much easier
whats pepega
| A | A' |
--+-----+-----+----
B | 0.4 | 0.1 | 0.5
--+-----+-----+----
B'| 0.2 | 0.3 | 0.5
--+-----+-----+----
| 0.6 | 0.4 | 1
B' is 0.5
last column second row
pretty sure if you have bot perms you can keep it open
@dark trail Has your question been resolved?
HAHA
SHOW MERCY ON THY
oooooo
It automatically closes if there is no activity in channel
Well so far from what I’ve seen is 1st it asks in 15 mins then 30 mins, 1hr, 2hrs
Also the amount of time it waits after it asks Has your question been resolved? keeps on increasing
@dark trail Has your question been resolved?
gods hand is back
Back
I calculated 6iii as .83333
So for 6iv it’s the union of A and alternate b
Which is .5
@keen plinth @trim wagon
?
just to get the questions
Multiply the two
Ahhh okok
Oh
So
I got that b’ was equal to .5
As b is .5 so the alternate must be the other half
yes
Ok so the formula for A|B’ is
whats P(A)
My bad .6
.4/.6
