for example 1,7,8 is different from 1,8,7
so you have to count more than once
but some cases like 2,7,7 is counted only once since it can be rotated to form all other permutations 7,2,7 and 7,7,2
so it's hard to count
So confusing cause the chapter from the textbook is about combinations but here the order matters

Well, we have 8 gaps to place 2 blue beads. Because the necklace is circular, and using stars and bars, we can say that 2 × 8 = 16 beads are evenly placed in every gap (since there must be at least 2 in each gap). So the problem really is to figure out how many different possibilities there are to choose the set of bars from n + k - 1, where n is the number of stars and k - 1 is the number of bars. Here, n = 32 - 16 = 16, and thus n + k - 1 = 16 + 8 - 1 = 23, and logically k - 1 = 7. Therefore, we have 23 choose 7.

i think this problem is particularly ugly because you have to account for not only the ordering of the groups, but also the 8-fold symmetry
like lets say we write out the number of excess beads (beads greater than 2) for each segment
some ways to distribute the blue beads include like
16-0-0-0-0-0-0-0
2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2
3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1

the first way can be rotated distinctly 8 ways, the second 1 way, and the last one 2 ways
so this problem probably has a lot of very dirty casework
to count everything that can be rotated 8 ways

No, no. I’m just interested in learning combinatorics by myself, and I’m in high school, so I haven’t learned group theory yet. Before this problem, there were only “pure” counting problems, maybe with the exception of some modular arithmetic, which isn’t that difficult.
not sure what you mean by "pure" counting problem but this can be tackled with probably something very close
but to answer your question in that case, its very easy to learn all of the tools needed for this problem

well u can use subsitution by saying b+c = 300-a a+c = 300-b and a+b=300-c

bc u can group the 2nd equation by doing a^2(b+c)+b^2(a+c)+c^2(a+b) = 60000000

u usually don't need calc iii unless the integral is testing that (line, surface, etc)

it's really the only method for extracting coefficients
so u need to know it to actually know "gen functions" imo
