$X$ is your matrix
elrichardo1337
it has to be a 2x2 matrix since that's the only way the dimensions line up for multiplication
you solve for each of the entries individually
(you're gonna need some linear systems)
then put them back together to get your final matrix $X$
elrichardo1337
So
Which math is this?
I was given it in algebra 2 after finishing cramers rule
But idk he gives my extra work
And Iโm like mad confused on how to solve it without using the inverse
Since idk what to do
Interesting, I've never seen that problem type before.
Itโs matrix equations but he wants me to solve it without inverse and use systems of equations
But thereโs no videos on how to do it
"without using the inverse" is a pointlessly tedious exercise unless you didn't already learn inverses
Have you used chatgpt?
!nogpt
Please do not trust ChatGPT or similar AI tools for mathematical tasks, as they often generate output which "sounds correct" but has numerous factual or logical errors. Use of these AI tools to answer other people's help questions is strictly against server rules (see #rules).
No
My other math teacher showed me how to do it no inverse
But it still doesnโt make sense
Since I keep getting it wrong
I end up with like 51x21=18
??????????????
you essentially get two 2-var linear systems which don't depend on each other
I figured it out
you should be able to solve them easily
Broooo
Wait
๐ญ
Iโm so slow
Ofc after I send this I figure it out
Thank you for the help
npnp
,texsp $\begin{bmatrix}-3&6\-7&7\end{bmatrix}$
bruh texit can't spoiler its images rip
coulda shown that a while ago ๐
so yeh its basically what i was thinking
I think itโs a 1x2
but thats horrible
๐ญ
๐คฃ
Wait
why?
Do I make x a 2x2?
you can use ,texsp at the start of the message
elrichardo1337
:O
why did your matrices change before you even did anything XD
im so confused
Bro
Wait
I mightโve sent
Oh
๐ญ๐
Wrong pic
This the right one
๐คฃ
do you know how to multiply two matrices btw
well the work above appears correct
wait really?
he swapped it and he needs a 2x1 matrix right
that first step looks a little suspicious
Wait what
besides your initial mistake of having X be 2x2 your work appears fine?
Wait no cause
generally you want your dimensions to match
he swapped the order tho?
I dropped the negative sign
am i trippin?
you have a 2x2 matrix being multiplied by another matrix of unknown dimension, and you want the product to be 2x1
-6
so X is 2x1
no
,calc -15 - (-8)
Result:
-7
lol
๐๐ญ
wait mb he never swapped th eorder i was looking at wrong problem ๐
wait even then he never swapped the order what am i on ๐
yea yea
you can distribute that into either matrix i believe
or you could do it after you multiply
yeaa
i mean
if you multiply a constant by a matrix
you can just multiply it by every term in the matrix
and you can do that for literally any of the three matrices there sorta lol
like - [a b] = [-a -b]
ignore my horrible notation ๐
A
So
It should turn into this
?๐ญ
It looks wrong
I think Iโm cooked
๐ฅฒ
Imma just have to ask him tomorrow I think
actually
i think thats right
i thought you said you dont know how to do matrix multiplication ๐
๐ญ๐
Guys I swear my algebra 2 is only a semester
Iโm in 10th grade
Okay but then what
turn it into system of equations
So
hold up
XD
So is gotta be right then right ๐ญ๐
yep im pretty sure XD
๐ฟ
Can someone help solve a trig problem?
What is it regarding?
Its sine and cosine law, i thought i was doing it but the textbook says otherwise
I will likely be able to help, I'm studying that as well
Idk where I went wrong in mine
I have this, solved x for 273
is this valid?
Im going to try it right now
K
someone help me ๐ญ
it aint workin
i think i can do (b) when I figure out (a) but idk how to do (a)
i gtg now - ping me if u reply so i can check back later thx ๐
i got 273 too
Textbook might be wrong than damn wasted an hour on that
what does the textbook say
299.8
What is the answer for #9?
Textbook says 299.8, i got 273
oh man
Whatd you get?
I got 97.6 lol, but maybe I visualized it wrong
ohh I see
Yea, hoffdog got 273 too, so i think the books wrong
I got 273 as well with your triangle visual
but isn't your 54 and 71 degree angles considered angles of elevation? not depression?
@worthy acorn
I thought they were depressions from the balloon because its looking down to each end
From the bridge thing they become elevations because of alternate angle pattern
I think the problem is the same formatting/mapping as 8, your visual is angles of elevation I believe
but I'm going to continue to look into it
if u format it like 8 where both ends of the aqueduct are on the same side of the balloon then wouldnt the aquaduct be even smaller
so def not 299
i get 97 too if i do it with both ends of the aqueduct on the same side
Gotcha, so it must be 273
ig
Suppose so
can someone check this ^
What class is this for?
How did you teach yourself to write proofs like that?
i spent 3 hours figuring it out yesterday. then i use chatgpt to help me write it all in latex today
Also, how did you learn to prove pythag?
Very cool
could u look it over and lmk if it makes sense
it can be both apparently
because the question is not specific enough there is no answer for sure, according to some deep dive google searchs
idk why the textbook says 299.8, but i continue to see 97.3 and 273
Yeah D1 is a right angle
But in order to prove it I have to either prove its a rhombus with interior right angles or its rhombus with equal diagonals
I dont know if its classified as proved because Im not sure its even proved as a rhombus
Or I need to prove its a parm with an interior rit angle and a pair of adjacent sides are equal
do you know the formula for arc length based on the angle and radius?
no
its s = r(theta)
where s is the arc length, r is the radius, theta is the angle
do you know how to do it now lol
no i dont ):
do you know what i said though
arc length = radius * angle
basically
for partial circles
do you know the radius?
no im really confused
do you know what a radius is?
not really
its the blue line
Its a line to anywhere on the vertex of the arc from the center point
105
no thats the angle
oh
3 units?
yep
the radius (the length of that line) is 3
so
arc length = 3 times the angle
first of all do you know the angle?
and also can you put it in radians?
actually do you know how to put it in radians?
lol
no now im lost
105
b and c?
how would i type that in
do you know pi
you mean into a calculator or just
yea
what kind of calculator do you have
im using desmos
i think i did it
to get the arc length
what did u get
how do i figure out that
the radius is 3
oooh i see
yeh
i got the answer thanks
๐
arc length = angle * radius
you have arc length
you have angle
how do you get radius
you'd actually divide it
because arc length = angle * radius
so radius = arc length/angle
oh i ran out of time for that question so im in a whole new thing now
oh lol
Yeah thatโs what I was thinking, the question was too ambiguous that it could be drawn either the way I did it or the way you did it.
Glad we got it all sorted out
AB is a radius, not a diameter
a diameter is a chord that passes through the center
oh its IJ then
yeh
ok ok the question confused me for a second
XD
me
yes
this?
yes
make the denominator same first
you can do that by writing tanx as 1-cotx and then lcm
it will turn to (tanx/1-cotx) - (cot^2x/1-cotx)
now (tanx-cot^2x/1-cotx)
write tanx as 1/cotx again
can u once do in a page and send me
okie
@lavish widget
alr leme check

nice answer btw
thx
bot guy he was trying to make me understand from his answer
understood man thanks!!

Hey guys do you think geometry should be taken as a full year course or is it too important to rush the whole class into a few weeks?
Iโm thinking of doing it over the summer
i think it depends which course ur taking in higher grades
different by cases
yeah
are you good at math?
Kind of
then it isn't bad choice to learn it with few weeks, I did it long time ago and it was pretty good choice
Okay thanks!
wow u guys have a lot of idea in mat hs
I like math
i joined this grp for doubt clearing and understanding caus im struggling with trignometry and linear equations
and i got bad in my trigonometry test....................
it's helpful to think trigonometry with circle and right triangle instead formulars
actually I was not good at trigonometry.. but it was very helpful
rather than depth of understanding
researching about trigonometry is better than problem solving
researching? i'm not good at english so i can't sure it's fitted
Anyone know how to get CH and UH?
its hard to see because my camera sucks but the degree next to H is 42.9
CUH is a right triangle
Yeah I know see the ? marks next to the sides i need to find those out
its hard to see sorry my camera is really bad
do you know basic trigonometry?
nope
...then how did you calculate the measurements for triangle CQU lol
anyway
This math video tutorial provides a basic introduction into trigonometry. It covers trigonometric ratios such as sine, cosine, and tangent. It explains how to evaluate it using right triangle trigonometry and SOHCAHTOA. In addition, it explains how to solve the missing sides of triangles and how to find the missing angles using inverse trig f...
right triangle side caluclator carried me
will that explain how to get the sides?
that video will get you up to speed on basic trig yes
alright thanks
guys why r vectors so hard
i dont know waht a vector is
its an ARROW!
and i have 3 weeks and i know nothing about them
bc to someone who hasnt done anything with them before they are highly unfamiliar territory
weve been doing them for 11 weeks
real bro we been doing trig for like 5 weeks and havn't learned anything
sine and cosine rule?
something like that
theres two triangles in one idk what im doing
well i have been telling you to look at triangle CUH since the start.
if it helps you, make a copy of your diagram but with point Q and segment UQ erased.
use sien ruel
idk what that is
sina/a=sinb/b=sinc/c
no you don't?
overkill!!!
he doesnt even know soh-cah-toa and you're trying to feed him the sine rule? come on!
what
@tidal shell did you watch the video y/n
SOH CAH TOA IS THE PREMISES OF TRIGERNOMETRY
some of it
this is a right triangle so sine rule is overkill ANYWAY.
i didnt even see the right angle
@tidal shell watch the vid in its entirety THEN come back here.
side, not site.
also it's spelled hypotenuse.
ENlgish no first
its not that deep
what is your first language?
Rust #1
find CH
oh yeah CH
CQ is known, so QH = CH - CQ.
nevr
never what
you're the ONLY one who knows what YOU need.
i will ask you once again
did you or did you not watch the vid
i think that instead of watching the vid you chatted in here
ok in that case let me reproduce the diagram...
this right though?
yes CQ + QH = CH is correct, it's literally a restatement of what i said.
uhguwharwk??
let me repeat myself
i am telling you that you should get CH FIRST, and from that get QH.
okay
okay
can you write down the relevant trig ratio based on this info?
if you can't then type these exact words: "No, I cannot do it myself. I want you to take me through it step by step in full detail."
so much for following my instructions exactly as stated.
ok.
look at the diagram.
yes
in this triangle there are two sides we care about:
- CU, because it is known
- CH, because it is sought
do you understand this? Y/N
yes
ok
look at angle H, which i have marked for you here with its size (47.1ยฐ).
which of the following three words:
- opposite
- adjacent
- hypotenuse
describes the position of side CU, relative to angle H?
adjacent?
wrong
oopp?
oh
what is your first language? maybe it will be easier if i translate.
ok nevermind that
ok
each angle lies between two sides
in a right triangle, each acute angle lies between the hypotenuse and one other side
that other side is its adjacent
okay
ok
so with all this in mind
which of the following three words:
- opposite
- adjacent
- hypotenuse
describes the position of side CH, relative to angle H?
adj
right.
so the two sides we care about are the opposite (CU) and adjacent (CH).
which part of the SOH-CAH-TOA mnemonic:
- SOH
- CAH
- TOA
will we need?
soh?
why?
i guessed
okoay
we're looking at the __O__pposite and __A__djacent sides
which part of SOH-CAH-TOA do we need?
i dont know
ok in that case
we're looking at the __O__pposite and __A__djacent sides
which part of SOH-CAH-TOA do we need?
wrong BOTH times.
i gave you a peg and 3 holes to put it in
the peg fits in one of those holes only
you went for BOTH wrong holes
pause
it is as if you actively try not to think
i just suck at math
which i really really hope is not reality
the math has not even begun
you are letting your math phobia stop you from accomplishing the simplest of tasks
so toa?
yes!
like
i highlighted the letters O and A
which stand for Opposite and Adjacent
TOA
it's right there!
$\tan(47.1\dg) = \frac{???}{???}$
|Annโฉ
replace the ???'s with the sides we have been talking about. DON'T try to put their values in for now -- ONLY write "CU" and "CH" in the respective places.
|Annโฉ
can you now solve this equation for CH?
yes probably but idk how
how can you say "yes" and "i don't know how" in the same breath?
because you haev 2 numbers up there
if you don't know how, then surely it would be more honest to say you can't?
ok
let's make a simpler equation
the structure is the same but all the numbers are different
$\frac{12}{z} = 8$
|Annโฉ
how do you find z here
why what wrong?
i don't like being called "bro".
anyway
96?
1.5?
how did you find this?
i don't know
so it is just another guess.
1.5 divide
bad.
from 12/z = 8,
multiply both sides by z to get 12 = 8z,
then
divide both sides by 8 to get z = 12/8.
do you understand this? Y/N.
which part of this do you not understand?
i didn't take algebra thing
for 9th grade and 8th
i was out of school for those years
how do you multiply by z
it equal nothing
well, it sounds like you need a review of algebra and not just geometry.
right now we are getting nowhere.
i can solve it just don't know how to tell u i did
that fine
fact of the matter is, you are unable to get from
tan(47.1) = 90.05/CH
to
CH = 90.05/tan(47.1)
so i need tan 47.1
find that number right
then divide by 90.005
or what
and that = CH
@dark sparrow sorry to interrupt.do you know what is maple?
in a math context that usually refers to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_(software)
Maple is a symbolic and numeric computing environment as well as a multi-paradigm programming language. It covers several areas of technical computing, such as symbolic mathematics, numerical analysis, data processing, visualization, and others. A toolbox, MapleSim, adds functionality for multidomain physical modeling and code generation.
Maple'...
what is the use of this?
so tan of 47 = 1.0724
what is the use of this software?
the article has examples of its usage
@dark sparrow did j get it?
significantly more features
you are writing division backwards
but yes
is it useful for calculus? @cunning lion
@dark sparrow why is it wrong?
it has calculus capabilities from what i've read
can you post a picture of the entire written instructions?
i think it is most likely some rounding bullshit.
,w 90.05/tan(47.1ยฐ)
if you post partial or incomplete or something else entirely then i can't help you.
i will be back in 10.
In the diagram:
- CU forms the altitude for CUQ and CUH
- QC = 44.4
- UQ = 100.4 yd
- CUH = 47.1
these what it said for instructions
USe the diagram to determine the measure of the sought sides and angles
ping me when u back please
i watch video again
do you guys think the unit circle tastes good
yeah
what's a unit circle?
Am I right if X is 48 and y is square root of 3?
hi
i solved this q but i need to confirm the answer cuz i cant find the markscheme for this
well itโs just the area of the equilateral triangle - the area of those 60 degree sectors
ya ok thanks
Yes 30-60-90 triangle
Help with no 17 plz i dont get it
It seems like evry answer is wrong
Letter A is correct cuz of the hinge theorem,
B is wrong cuz its true
C is wrong cuz theres no postulate that supports it
D is wrong cuz its not on the same triangle
So A is the true correct answer, but technically, C is also because it is false
What am i supposed to choose
i mean D is false right
so it is what you're looking for
you're looking for the false stmt
If $2sec2\alpha=Tan\beta+Cot\beta$, then value of $(\alpha+\beta)$ =
Nischal
no thats wrong
x=16sqrt(3), y=8sqrt(3)
when i use the vector projection does it still have i and j components
yea
Still stumped on how 9 is 299.8
I feel like I recognise that textbook.
Gr 11 Canadian math
Huh, whatโs the name of the textbook?
Btw you should try drawing the problem out if you are having difficulties with it.
Not sure, would have to check, thats just what grade you get it in
I drew this
TheLord26
I did, but still got the โwrongโ answer
Hmm
You try it rq
Ight
,w \frac{270}{\sin(\frac{54\pi}{180})}
,w \sin(\frac{55\pi}{180})\frac{270}{\sin(\frac{54\pi}{180})}
So the texbook was wrong
Hmm
Looks like it
Trying to see if Iโve done something wrong, but I think the textbook is wrong.
Oh good
How
pie is better
Can we determine the exact values of trig functions of every angle, and can we compute a cyclometric function for any argument inside its domain?
Wdym?
We can calculate that. Whether or not there is an exact value of it depends though.
without a calculator?
Yes
The simplest way to calculate sin and cos is to use the Taylor series of the functions.
There are other ways, like using the complex definitions.
Ofc thereโs also a geometric approach.
hyperbolic?
No. That is different.
Anyways, thereโs not really a use to doing it by hand, unless itโs an easy to compute angle, like 90, 45, 60, and 30. But if I was forced to calculate sin of 20 degrees by hand, I would use Taylor series approximations.
Idk if thatโs what you wanted, but thatโs my answer.
As for the inverses, there is also a Taylor series for them, not very good albeit.
$e^{iz} = \cos(z) + i \sin(z)$ and $e^{-iz} = \cos(z) - i \sin(z)$
|Annโฉ
solve for sin(z) and you will see that i go there
but from sin(x) = -isinh(ix) we get $\frac{-ie^{ix} + ie^{-ix}}{2}$
They are different things.
sin and sinh are different
I would recommend watching a video explaining how to derive the formula for each.
can you please use some parentheses and proper formatting
$\sin(x) = -i \sinh(ix)$, ok?
|Annโฉ
and anyway,
yes, we do. is that an issue?
Hollow Knight Addict
I dont even know anymore
you yourself don't know where the issue is, but you know for a fact that an issue exists.
and whats the geometric approach
Hello everyone!
I am not getting the point of how the sum of angles of n sided polygon was proved.
I understood everything besides how we get n - 2 triangles.
Guys
What's the difference
Between
Trigonometry
Geometry
And
Mensuration?
I did some research now, i feel stupid.
Anyways, what's the difference between trig and geo?
Yeah my question sounds stupid but I just wanted to know why exactly the formula of an n-sided polygon is 180 * (n-2).
But how can you prove that there will be n-2 triangles in the picture below?
or from this
if you pass out and have a heart attack you probably won't be able to call 911
whats the issue
i don't think "solve" would be the correct term but maybe
could you give me an example
if ur stuck on a problem or smthn
i have a project and im on computer right now can u please help me later
like in 40 minutse
i may not be here in 40 minutes but if you post ur problem here i bet someone would help
we have to plot points and i feel like im doing something wrong
then why does no one answer them
why does no one answer when
today
but thats the first thing you said today lol
i answered
because i lied of saying 911
oh
work harder not smarter
nobody answers to "hello"
they answer to a problem
๐
just post the problem
don't post "hello"
that tells us nothing
hello
lol
yeah
do you
if you just say hello i wouldn't expect ppl to respond lol
I have a feeling you play pixel gun 3d
i don't ๐
scummy.
??
โ ๏ธ
whats that
do you play snapchat games
we're here to do math, so if you say hello thats fine but don't expect ppl to respond they mostly just here to do math lol
scummy is not math
staging a heart attack with the express purpose of "just getting someone's attention" is scumbag behavior.
that is what i was saying.
it was obviously exaggerated lol
@celest wave the fuck are you on
very realistic
no, but the nearest thing to it ๐ ๐ฟ
I think pre-uni section mostly has Indian students ๐
so theres real ai humans
fuck you for calling me an AI.
do you have any reason for thinking that
i said fuck
do you wanna take this to #discussion and moralize at me about how i can't say fuck
uh not really?
Yup just answered some student and many question I see are from many coaching and school modules
ahh
hello
umm why is there a rude AI
@granite axle Help me solve an equation of rotations.
Um, the AI doesnt seem like it's working. Can someone help me with homework.
Hello yeah I help bro XD
Also it ai???? I think it real bro XD
???
are you also going to accuse me of being an AI?
wtf
uh
Are there bro??
very catastrophic indeed
@hexed kernel @grand turtle i'd like to hear an apology from at least one of y'all
cause again, for the record, i'm not an AI
Also I did not call ai
Dont tell me what to do.
ok, then it's from jezel specifically that i want an apology.
Wait dude what?
@granite axle Remove chat
guys who else dislikes... geometry๐ฅฐ
I love math friend
there is no AI here.
Dude since when are AI's are getting out of hand.
Elon musk created these crazy AI
<@&268886789983436800> can we do sth about this?
I not complete fruend lil
they dont even work?
Lol
what is jezel talking about bruh
I have no mind friend
ok i will just mute bc this seems super weird/in bad faith
why is there a minecraft player

Maybe mistake?
Hey friend
My friend yes bro
It look good!
Yes
What my friend

Uhh
Ok
Uh

๐ค
They're gone
this is from AOPS?
notice that the problem mentions centroids
there are three extremely critical theorems of centroids you should always remember:
the 2/3 one?
- the 2/3rds one yes
- centroids are formed by medians
- the medians divide the triangle into 6 smaller triangles of equal area
2 is definition-ish (collinearity needs to be rigorously proven)
1 and 3 should be pretty easy to prove
these facts about centroids will be important details in like 90% of all problems involving centroids
keep them in your pocket
lemme know if that helps
Help please
label all the sides that you know, and look at the angles of each triangle
like you see that you have two triangles right
one is inscribed in the other
look at those angles
Look at the smaller triangle in the big one
List all sides of AWV and ACB out
You're not given any angles, so use proportionality from both triangles to prove the SAS theorem
This is wrong
The triangles share a common angle (WAV)
so would it be not similar?
Figure it out yourself
||yes they arenโt similar||
Yes sin(2x) divided by sin(2x) is like 10/10 it equals 1
The 2 stays in the denominator
You forgot a really important thing here
Whatโs that?
The case when sin(2x) is 0
Yes this is true, thereโs two potential cases
This is because cosx = 1/2
On the unit circle, thereโs two points where cosx is 1/2
Pi/3 and 5pi/3
How do you get to this case?
By implying that x = 0
?
