#Volatility Tracker

items like aspect of the ends
wither armor
either
sa armor
aspect of the dragons
items that have held the same rough price for x amount of time
there r items that haven’t changed prices in months
and then there r items change prices overnight
obv this is probably a big ask
but u could compare average median prices over x amount of time
for example say price moves by around 15% up or down over a certain amount of time
it would be average volatility
but items that meta changes or extremely low volume and fluctuate frequently would be high volitilitu
it could just be % based on median price changing
this would be helpful asf
cs this way itd be easier to differentiate things thatd sell quickly with cofl
what stops you from using the volume for that?
i mean volatility tracker would allow u to find things that might be safer
to flip
so u dont get ur ass handed to you by snowman pets
true
etc
it could also be super helpful when buying items in general
if u r trying to buy something that lines up with median, but the volatility is super high it could save u from losing money
like the balloon snake lmao
n like ive used cofl for investments in general so having a volatility tracker would be nice, i could find a item that isnt volatile and then invest in that for the long term
very volatile ones = short term
etc etc
unless i’m mistaken i don’t think it would be very difficult to make for the majority of items..
rate of price change % wise against a certain amount of time
the amount of time could vary depending on volume
the median uses the last 80 sells, I don't see how some other thing would estimate that better
some items have very high volume but very high volatility
like snowman pets ^
a median could be super accurate but it could change in a short amount of time
if the item has high volume
thus
volatility feature !
items like high level nether armor also change median prices VERY often
and items that go up or down depending on mayor
certain slayer pets become super expensive before aatrox
and median moves with them as they go up cause a bunch of people r buying
it’s not like median would be way below the lbin in cases like that
what do you fear to happen?
buying items and then price returns to normal
or price tanks because the item was naturally inflated
natural inflation affects median price
volatility would detect that
also @sturdy plank , does the median vary in the amount of recent sells depending on certain items volume?
it doesn't drop as quickly if there are lots of sales in the same day
but items that have a much lower volume
do they use the last 80 sells
cause certain items have never even sold 80 times
all i’m saying is that volatility doesnt have to have anything to do with manip
median bottoms out at 0.1 volume
i see
it would just be super nice to players that don’t know EVERYTHING about skyblock economy/pricing
and that’s most players
mayors change the median price of items all the time
and certain items medians r super easy to change
i changed balloon snake median by over 100m in a couple minutes
and it instasold
please elaborate
i’m not an expert but idk if it has to do with volume of the way price is calculated when there is not a lot of other examples of items
but certain rare items can have the median changed very easily
for example the balloon snake
i’ve seen a lot
I don't think so
i changed median for balloon snake from 300m to like 195 in a couple minutes
when did you do that and what flip estimation was 100m higher after that?
on accident
downwards?
thats not a manipulation, thats value drop adjustment
if an items median jumps like that
i know
volatility could show that
or display it
any median change over x amount of time is volatility
if a median price changes by 20% in a certain amount of time that item could be labeled as a certain level of volatile
it could be other way around
but median change and time correlate to volatility yk
so one or two underlisting bump the volatility?
if the median price changes yes
for the exact same item
depending on volume as well
but median price for items changes fairly often
sometimes barely any
and sometimes a lot
like with ice spray wands
hypixel changed lbin for them
and everyone started selling for what they were actually worth
cause before u could only list for 32m
the median changed for that item relatively quickly
volatility value would show that

i just think it could be useful to config making if u want to filter out more volitile items, and for when you r making a purchase and price has recently changed
like when marina changes fishing items prices
or when paul lowers dungeon drops
they all increase in price pretty significantly
as well as their medians
due to aatrox
and then about 2 days later they returned to regular price
15m change tho
first message didnt send
wolf, eman, tara, ghoul
all increase well past their usual median
@sturdy plank
divans alloy median just went up almost 300m cause of cole being mayor
thats volatile
So +/-20% in a day?
around there ya
but you see what im saying
sum items medians can still be super volatile
depending on whats going on in the game
Well for that I would need to store medians and then be able to load them back quickly unless you want to wait a second or two for the descriptions to load
i see
i mean use ur best digression
ur the expert
if u think itll be more of a hassle then useful dw abt it
but it would be quite nice to be able to see if an items price is subject to volatility and shit
Let's say I store it like that.
Tomorrow it wouldn't be volatile anymore.
Is that an issue for you?
yes thats a good idea
because some items median price is changing by 20%+/- every few days
or maybe if an item is labelled volatile it keeps that label for 2 days or sum
to adjust for the way prices move in the game
it takes abt 2 days ish for most items to move back to orignial price after a mayor/event
But the mayor is 5 days, so it wouldn't be volatile for 4 days of the mayor
prices go up
volitility goes up
then prices come back down
and change by another 20%
making them volatile for another x amount of time
if you did 2days once something gets flagged as volatile for the first 2 days, then again as the price goes down quickly
and by the last day of mayor prices r back what they used to be
:D
Shouldn't I rather split references by mayors if an item is affected by it?
items are also affected by a lot more things
meta changes
update teases
manipulation
is this getting added or too much hassle?
rip volitility tracker
