After I added the score it crashes everytime the ball touches the sides

Always post the code when asking. You posted some of def update_score in the video, though.

Every instance method in a class needs a self parameter (look at your other methods). And also, what are you expecting the player if self.rect. . . passed to update_score to be used for? You also don't have a parameter for that data.
