Tuples are immutable, their contents cannot be changed, so you cannot sort them.

additionally, tup1 is a tuple because you use parenthesis when you define it
while tup is not a tuple, it's a list, since you are using square brackets when you define it

if you are mixing them this might be why things sometimes works and other time it doesn't, since tuples are immune, while lists are mutable
