@random sorrel
Remember to:
- Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
- Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
- Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.
:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.
@mighty marsh
heya
so 8 markers are kinda difficult
the ones where it asks for ethical problems and things like that
sup
A school asks its students to bring in their own electronic devices (e.g. tablets, laptops, mobile
phones) to use in lessons instead of purchasing new equipment.
Discuss the issues surrounding students bringing their own devices. Include in your discussion:
โข ethical issues
โข legal issues
โข privacy issues.
what are some ethical, legal and privacy issues you can see with this?
imagine if this was planned to happen at your school and you were in the headteacher's shoes
okay right
let me list them
Ethical:
- Some students may not have devices due to an unwealthy situation or household choice
Privacy:
- Students take photos of each other and post them publicly online without each others permission
Legal:
- Devices are stolen from students
whoops
yeah i cant think of legal ones
actually
okay you got 3
thats good
any others?
that is true
how about that the school may not be able to monitor what occurs on the student's devices?
i'm guessing your school has something like smoothwall
and also that if you were to enforce this, you'd basically be backdooring people's personal devices
yes and no
imagine leaving your back door open when you left your house
now someone doesn't need to break your windows
pick your lock
ohh so its unauthorised access due to a fault of your own
yes
in this case, say you installed some program to ensure something like a VPN doesn't let you skip over network restrictions
because they're enforced and logged locally
i didnt even know a vpn could skip over network restrictions
what happens if someone then uses that to publish an update (or the software gets hacked) and now all your devices are backdoored
also note that this says "include in your discussion", not "Only feature in your discussion"
so if you want to, you can include environmental effects of this policy
which would be?
there's another mark
also you could include in your ethics that students could have modified ("jailbroken") devices that can do things regular devices cant
well now they dont have to buy a bunch of laptops
ahhh yeah i see
indeed
just practice thinking of things like this
im in a bit of a predicament where my entire city has pretty much had a power outage
and my laptop is somewhat close to dying
hopefully it gets fixed by this evening
oh wow what the frick
is it perhaps norwich
pretty sure someone told me they had a power outage there
oh im not ready for science
i need a 6 in physics
im doing electronics at college
ooh
yeah its crazy
i think IT has a lot of things about databases and stuff
let me check
this is IT:
Cyber Security and Incident Management โ Types of cyber security attacks, the vulnerabilities in networked systems and how to plan and respond to attacks
Website Development โ The development tools, techniques and processes used in website development and how to test usability, functionality and fitness for purpose
Relational Database Development โ Structure of data, data design and database management systems (DBMS).
this is computer science:
An understanding of the organisation of computer systems including software, hardware, data, communication and people
Skills in project and time management
An awareness of the consequences of using computers and of emerging technologies, and an appreciation of their potential impact on society
A computer application for a real client

lemme finish my snack rq
i actually havent read it
ohhh i get it now
yeah its confusing
i did my work experience at an IT company
a small one
and oh my word it was so good
it was during the heatwave last summer
and me and the guys working there spent like 3 hours per day driving in vans to different places
to fix all sorts of different problems
i learnt so much about IPs and stuff

honestly that seems like such a fun job if you're with a friend
the guy who owns the company lives across the road from me so our families are close friends but the guys i was working with had never met me before, but honestly they were so kind and helped me so much
i even created a website on their domain about the Euros
using wordpress
honestly such a cool story to read
congrats man
