Ok so apparently
Pyright updated to 1.1.398 and is causing a lot of type issues
I downgraded Pylance (which includes Pyright) to the previous version before today and its working fine now
Loads of github bug reports for pyright for type inference stuff
Unfortunately, Python's type checking is entirely reliant on the third party tools that you use.
And many have issues.
Yeah, just glad I'm not alone. For the moment I'll just use the previous Pyright version
