You can add this to your settings.json vscode file

- Ctrl + Shift + P to open the command palette
- Type
Open User Settingsand selectPreferences: Open User Settings (JSON) - Add
"editor.rulers": [80]and save
(you could also add this to your workspace-level settings.json file instead, to only add the vertical line to your current project rather than any project)
