#πŸ”’ Readline completion doesn't work within `bazel run` of a `py_binary` target

I'm trying to drop into an interactive interpreter from my app that is built with bazel. With the following code snippet, I can get an interactive prompt if I paste it into foo.py file and run python foo.py, but if I invoke it from my file which is invoked via bazel run, there is no completion. Are there init steps I can poke at to see what's missing? Do I need some environment variable?

import code
import readline
import rlcompleter

vars = globals()
vars.update(locals())

readline.set_completer(rlcompleter.Completer(vars).complete)
readline.parse_and_bind("tab: complete")
code.interact(local=vars)

Remember to:

  • Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
  • Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
  • Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.

:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.
