I want to capture the first character of input with sys.stdin.read(1). This works, however every character inputted after the first remains in buffer and is used for subsequent inputs. I do not want this behavior. How can I flush the input buffer? I am on linux and do not need it to work anywhere else, though if possible it would be ideal for it to not be OS specific.

show code so i can understand what u mean
cause if you just need tje first character and not using the sys.stdin.read again.. just assign that statement to a variable and be done with it.. use the variable.
