Remember to:
- Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
- Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
- Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.
:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.
I have no idea how to make discrod bot
localhost is a special url
it's, literally, my house
discord is asking you where your house is, and you're saying my house, which obviously doesnt' work
But what url do i have to use ?
i just asked to chatgpt beacause i am new in coding im literally 12 years old
Well, if you want to use that auth method, any url you control...
okay well
keep in mind that learning from AI is a mistake because beginners can't tell when it's lying to them
You need to go to a different discord bot screen
to generate a login url
they changed it recently
I am learning from videos and i am buying some courses of python to learn i just said that i asked to chatgpt what url to use
this is my second bot my first bot was just with simple commands like !hello or something like this i am now just trying to do something more " hard "
When i did my first bot the url uri was not asked and and i don't know why now it ask me to have one and i don't know what is a uri
https://dev.to/falcao_g/how-to-create-a-discord-bot-with-javascript-f61#giving-your-bot-life this guide is probably up to date
They moved where you get the url
It's really annoying. It looks like discord is continuing to try and kill standard bots and push everyone to "Apps"
uri stands for "uniform resource locator" and is basically just a url
semantically they're a little different
you don't need one
But it ask me
There's a different screen/you need to tick the "bot" checkbox
yes, they moved the one you need and put this new annoying one there
did you tick the "bot" box above?
and what are the options under "integration type"
i don't find that
yeah
how did you get that link
It's just at the bottom of the page
when i put that link it sais the same error
but when i do that it gives me this error
What scopes have you selected?
bot and administrator
okay
I'm not seeing what you're seeing
try reloading the page
Also making sure you don't have things off in your installation tab
should look lik ethis
where is that
Okay.
now what
You should have seen the "discord provided url" option
are you sure you've created a bot application and not a general application?
Or, I don't know
Why is that missing
I have no idea why it's doing this
ok no problem anyways thanks for trying to help me
ima just try to create another one
i just created a new bot and now it works i am so sorry for wasting your time really ๐ญ
